He had already tidied the blanket, hugging the soft cotton pillow and adjusting the lace pillowcase.
The bright light of the gas lamp flickered, casting a small shadow on the handsome side of the young Asian man’s face.
His cheeks were pale, with black, soft hair hanging down, and his plump lips parted slightly, revealing a hint of distress.
“I don’t mind!”
Yashu immediately chimed in, grabbing the pillow from Yan Chuan’s hands and arranging it until not a single wrinkle remained.
His words were rapid, fearing that Yan Chuan would regret it, delivering them with a warmth that even the smoothest salesperson could not match: “I’m warm; you can cuddle up to me while you sleep…”
“My sleeping posture is great too, I won’t crowd you; there’s no need to move to another bed.”
【You little punk, just enjoy it quietly】
【Wife is so kind, even letting the little dog climb into bed; this used to be a privilege for husbands!】
【I think this bed is quite big; I can sleep in the middle (dog face)】
【Wife, you sleep; tonight I’ll keep watch, vowing to protect my beautiful wife’s purity!】
Yan Chuan nodded.
Just now, Yashu had seemed a bit silent; he thought Yashu might regret sharing the bed.
“Then we won’t move,” Yan Chuan decided, placing the vegetable soup he had brought into the room on the stove to heat it up, “Let’s sleep together.”
Yashu also came over to add more firewood: “Alright.”
After finishing the steaming vegetable soup and bread, Yan Chuan planned to go to bed.
It wasn’t even eight or nine in the evening yet; he glanced at the time but found no entertainment options in the script, so it was better to sleep early.
Outside, the rain was getting heavier, the strong winds from the forest pounded against the windows, producing a mournful howling sound.
“Shall I go to bed first?” Yan Chuan tentatively asked Yashu, “Do you think the rain will stop by tomorrow morning?”
Yashu nodded at first, then shook his head.
“Maybe,” he said as he walked to the window to listen to the sound of the rain, turning back to tell Yan Chuan, “If it lessens a bit, I could drive into town.”
Yan Chuan was not too sure about that.
“Let’s forget it…” He thought of the endless forest he had seen from a distance in the afternoon, completely obscuring the road conditions, “We’ll talk about it tomorrow.”
Whether the rain would stop in a short time was still uncertain.
Listening to the increasing sound of the rain, along with distant rumblings and the crackling noise from the stove, Yan Chuan lay down on the bed.
He handed Yashu another blanket.
“Sleep now,” he said, his soft black hair spread across the pure white pillow as he turned slightly to look at the green-eyed man beside him, “I’m a bit sleepy…”
The blanket was pulled up to cover his pointed chin, leaving only half of his pretty, pale face exposed.
His dark eyelashes fluttered gently, half-closed, with his cheeks slightly flushed.
Perhaps due to his lying position, his voice sounded even softer, like someone was blowing softly in his ear, making his heart itch.
“Mm.” Yashu lay down beside him.
The single bed was not wide; as soon as they lay down, the gap in the middle nearly disappeared, and they were almost sleeping head to head, shoulder to shoulder.
The posture was somewhat intimate.
However, on a cold, rainy night, huddling together for warmth was a good choice.
“Sleep now,” Yashu pulled the blanket over them and added another layer on top, “I’ll wake you up in the morning.”
The pretty Asian with black hair mumbled a vague response.
Yashu turned off the room lights.
With the windows shut tight, only darkness remained in the room.
***
A night of peaceful sleep.
When Yan Chuan woke up in the morning, he still felt a bit dazed.
It was Yashu who woke him; a little light was already filtering through the cracks in the window.
The light coming from the ventilation gap grew brighter, reminding him that it was the next morning.
As he woke up, Yan Chuan’s head was still fuzzy, not quite alert.
He was wrapped in a blanket, sitting up with his hair tousled.
His sleeping position had changed; originally, Yan Chuan lay flat with his hands on his abdomen. Now, he had curled up into a ball, being partially embraced by someone.
Through the blanket, a continuous warmth was coming from within.
Yan Chuan sluggishly realized he was hugging something.
He froze for a moment, and only when Yashu gently reminded him did he realize what it was—
He was holding Yashu’s right hand, mistaking it for a pillow to cuddle against.
He had even boldly burrowed into Yashu’s blanket, unceremoniously pushing closer.
Yashu moved his wrist slightly, seeming to have experienced some numbness.
Being used as a pillow for the whole night couldn’t have felt too comfortable.
Yan Chuan suddenly released his hold.
His face turned a bit red, feeling dazed as he apologized to Yashu.
“Sorry…” The pretty Asian’s cheeks were brushed with a layer of blush, showing a vague mark left by the pillow, while a strand of his hair on his forehead rebelliously stood up.
Earlier, he had claimed his sleeping posture was good, but in the end, he had ended up burrowing into someone else’s duvet.
Now that the initial grogginess had passed, Yan Chuan’s face flushed completely.
He had taken Yashu as some large hugging pillow, cuddling up to him for warmth.
【What great luck, the wife even cuddled with you to sleep at night!】
【So what if my wife is cold and uses you for warmth?】
【Ah, I see him showing a very happy expression, unable to continue acting… Did he scoop Yashu over when his wife was asleep?】
【Hurrying to get up, is he afraid of being caught in the act?】
Perhaps his sleeping position last night was even worse.
Thinking about that, Yan Chuan felt like covering his face and not daring to look at him, even though Yashu hadn’t said anything yet.
His sleeping posture was good… How could he lean against someone else while asleep?
Was it because the temperature was too cool at night, or was the bed just too small?
