Seeing the silhouette squatting at the end of the corridor by the stairs, Qu Fan casually approached and patted it. “Sir, it’s quite late; please don’t linger in the hallway.”
The figure paused for a moment, then a hoarse voice responded, “Who are you?”
Completely forgetting his scheme to deceive and trick others, Qu Fan was at a loss. Even if he hadn’t forgotten, he couldn’t detect anything wrong with the rules.
He cleared his throat and pretended to smooth his hair. “Sir, I am Qin Shi Huang. If you follow me, I can help you conquer the world, and you can be appointed as a general.”
– ‘I can’t believe it, this streamer is such a joke. I thought they had some skills, but this is just the same old trick.’
– ‘If this streamer can deceive me, I’ll eat dirt.’
The person squatting there asked another question, “Have you seen my pet?”
Qu Fan hadn’t expected this person to ask again, but he still replied gently, “Though I haven’t seen it, if you join me, I’ll search this entire hospital to help you find it.”
The person chuckled eerily upon hearing this. “Is that so?”
Qu Fan, feeling a bit impatient but reluctant to let go of his opportunity since this was the first ghost he had encountered, insisted, “Of course.”
Suddenly, the squatting individual stood up and slowly turned around.
Qu Fan instantaneously sensed a vast danger and immediately wanted to flee.
“Then come and feed my pet.”
With those words, the person quickly tackled Qu Fan to the ground, blood splattering everywhere.
At that moment, the audience finally saw the staircase entrance that had been obscured—a bloodied corpse of a dog, torn and mangled.
The corridor was eerily quiet, with only the sound of chewing echoing.
It was a long time before the dormitory residents noticed that one player was missing.
“Has anyone seen him?” Wang Ye asked impatiently, finding solo players to be the most annoying, as they only increased the difficulty for others.
Everyone else shook their heads, not knowing his whereabouts. Finally, a girl in the corner quietly spoke up, “I saw him go out, and then he never came back.”
As her words fell, everyone’s expressions turned grim because they were no longer new players; they all understood what it meant when someone went out and did not return in a mission.
At that moment, Yun Ye stood up and walked directly towards the door.
Wang Ye quickly followed, eager to be of use. “Boss, what are you planning to do?”
Yun Ye did not stop. “Doesn’t the rule say we’ll see different things after ten at night? The mission was not too dangerous in the previous days; we should explore the situation here thoroughly.”
Upon hearing this, Wang Ye was momentarily taken aback. Though this mission was challenging for them, it was a piece of cake for someone like Yun Ye. He could end it anytime, yet he said he wanted to explore like ordinary people. Wang Ye didn’t know what Yun Ye was thinking, but it never hurt to follow the superior.
A flattering smile immediately appeared on Wang Ye’s face as he opened the dormitory door for Yun Ye to go first.
“Did everyone hear that? Let’s all go explore the mission together.”
After Wang Ye’s words, everyone sprang into action, following behind Yun Ye in a grand procession.
They encountered no one along the way until they reached the staircase. A sharp-eyed man suddenly exclaimed, “That’s the corpse of the person who left!”
Everyone turned to look in the man’s direction, and sure enough, in a corner lay a body that appeared nearly torn apart, except for the face, which was unscathed, alongside the carcass of some hairy animal nearby.
Panic set in among the crowd. “There won’t be any man-eating monsters in this place, right?”
Wang Ye shot a disdainful glance at the speaker. “If it’s not a monster, could it possibly be him eating himself? It’s normal to have monsters in this game; there’s no need to be alarmed.”
The person wanted to say more but swallowed their words upon seeing the grim expression on Yun Ye, letting out a dissatisfied hum instead.
What was there to gloat about just because they had latched onto a big shot? It was really petty.
Yun Ye ignored the disputes and crossed over to wait for the elevator.
Others naturally followed him closely.
Yun Ye frowned, “Are you all sure you want to follow me?”
Wang Ye answered eagerly, “Of course, Boss. Following you gives us a better chance of safely clearing this mission.”
Yun Ye responded nonchalantly, “But I’m going to the top floor. Are you sure you’re willing to defy this rule?”
Wang Ye’s smile froze on his face, his earlier confidence turning into a joke. He genuinely didn’t dare to break the rules and risk his life betting on whether the big shot would save him.
Fortunately, having gone through so much, he had developed a thick skin. “Then you should be careful, Boss; we won’t follow you.”
With that, Wang Ye quickly turned to signal his team members, and they all left to explore on their own.
Others grouped up and set off to explore the hospital as well.
Yun Ye didn’t pay attention to their behavior; instead, he pondered the rules.
Why couldn’t they go to the top floor? Was there some prestigious identity there that shouldn’t be disturbed, or was there a treasure waiting for them up there?
Having entered the horror zone for so many years, if there was anything he was most interested in, it was snatching the treasures from those monsters and watching them go mad; that was one of his few sources of entertainment.
The elevator slowly ascended, and with a ding, it came to a stop. The doors opened before Yun Ye, but instead of the familiar layout of the hospital, a dark corridor filled with blood and a foul smell greeted him.
