The man furrowed his brows gently as he observed Song Jinyin’s somewhat shabby appearance at this moment, feeling utmost displeasure inside.
In the past, he had never tolerated any hardship while under his care. Every piece of clothing he wore was made from materials he painstakingly sourced; the food and living conditions were always of the highest quality.
To his surprise, in this scenario, he was living so poorly.
“Is this what you wanted?”
Song Jinyin looked at the man with more confusion. “Did we really know each other before?”
The man said nothing more; instead, he abruptly pulled him into the car and shut the door.
After this little incident, the vehicle continued to move.
The man wanted to reach out and touch Song Jinyin’s face, which was specked with dust.
But just as he extended his hand, he hesitated.
He had spent great effort finding him among countless scenarios, and he wasn’t here to scare him.
Song Jinyin couldn’t figure out how things had developed to this point or why he found himself in this man’s car.
Since Song Jinyin got into the car, Suihan had closed his eyes and remained silent.
He could feel Song Jinyin’s scrutinizing gaze.
It was a gaze of unfamiliarity, mixed with some fear; wanting to say something but too scared to do so.
After Song Jinyin hesitated in silence for a moment, Suihan opened his eyes. “What do you want to say?”
Realizing he had been seen through, Song Jinyin smiled shyly. “Um, I want to know why you are looking for me. If there’s nothing important, I’ll be leaving. My husband is still waiting for me.”
Suhuan’s initial calm demeanor shattered.
He had planned to take things slow as he had promised, and now he had lost his memory and gained a husband.
Through gritted teeth, Suihan spoke. “Song Jinyin, you’ve really got some nerve.”
With that, he seized Song Jinyin’s wrist, and the two of them suddenly vanished from the car.
The others inside the vehicle seemed completely oblivious to this scene, or perhaps they noticed but were too afraid to speak.
In the blink of an eye, Song Jinyin found himself in a desolate area.
He hurriedly pushed Suihan’s hand away and stared in shock at the surrounding environment.
“What do you want to do?! Let me go back! I don’t even know you!”
As soon as those words left his mouth, Suihan’s expression was filled with fury.
He restrained Song Jinyin’s hands with one hand and grabbed his chin with the other, forcing his face to look at him.
“Oh really? You don’t know me? Let me help you remember our relationship.”
Suhuan’s cold and ambiguous voice echoed in Song Jinyin’s ear, sending chills down his spine.
Song Jinyin’s mind was racing with alarm signals.
Run! Run! If you can’t escape, surrender quickly! Don’t defy him!
But at this moment, his rationality shattered. The apocalypse had already been a struggle for him, and now this situation was overwhelming.
With a brittle voice tinged with sobs, Song Jinyin struggled madly.
“Let me go! I want my husband! I don’t know you!”
Suhuan laughed with rage. “Want your husband? Do you have other husbands besides me? Have you forgotten how you promised me all those years ago?”
At this moment, Song Jinyin could not absorb Suihan’s words; he just cried out the name Bo Yanan over and over.
Suhuan simply held his ground against him.
He didn’t know how long they stayed like this, but after Song Jinyin once again called out for Bo Yanan, Suihan suddenly released him, clutching his own chest.
“Are you really in love with him?”
Song Jinyin broke free and wanted to run.
But for some reason, seeing the painful expression on the man’s face made his heart ache.
Tears that hadn’t yet fallen lingered at the corners of his eyes.
He dazedly touched his own chest.
“Why does it hurt here too?”
The pain that had made Suihan’s face pale slightly flushed with color.
He reached out, tapping Song Jinyin’s heart.
“So, part of you still remembers me; otherwise, why would it hurt? People who don’t love do not feel pain.”
“Xiaoshi, you always do this, giving me hope just when I am about to give up. How can I let you go?”
Song Jinyin didn’t understand Suihan’s words; he stared blankly into the distance, lost in thought.
While he was distracted, Suihan’s other hand moved to caress the back of his neck.
Suddenly, Song Jinyin’s vision faded to black, and he lost consciousness.
Suhuan held Song Jinyin in his arms, remaining silent for a long time, almost like a statue, before finally moving again.
His hand rested at the back of Song Jinyin’s neck, sensing.
Then he frowned slightly, fingers gently slicing at the nape, as a completely black worm crawled out.
In the next instant, the worm was reduced to ashes.
An icy chill rose from the depths of Suihan’s eyes. “How dare they use such despicable means against Xiaoshi.”
At the same time, Bo Yanan, who was still in the car, suddenly spat out blood.
Seeing this, the person sitting next to him immediately looked at him with concern.
“Little Bo, what’s wrong with you? You have to take care of yourself! You are the hope for all humanity! The antidote for the zombie virus relies on you; if something happens to you, humanity is doomed!”
Bo Yanan wiped his blood-stained hands with a tissue, seemingly unfazed as he returned them.
He offered a perfunctory smile to those who were worried about him.
“I’m fine, thank you for your concern.”
But the feeling of unease within him swelled.
This blood—could it mean something happened to Song Jinyin?
Every passing second in the car felt like torture; he was desperate to reach the central base to see Song Jinyin.
If the worm was truly dead, then he needed to formulate a countermeasure immediately.
He knew Song Jinyin wouldn’t remember the last few moments, and even if they met, he wouldn’t show any reaction.
