Why not cling to Yin Haidong’s leg? Of course, it’s because he is too domineering and indifferent for Lili to even consider it.
Fan Luojia appeared cheerful and approachable, much more gentle than the president, making him the first choice for support if one were to lean on someone.
Shuai Chang watched as Fan Luojia walked into the room before turning to help Yu Lili into the car.
Without Fan Luojia nearby, Yu Lili quickly regained her professional demeanor and clearly outlined the activities and meetings Yin Haidong needed to attend today in chronological order.
Shuai Chang nodded in response.
The opening ceremonies for the two dramas newly invested by Yin Entertainment were being held today, and as the boss, it was necessary for him to attend in person.
Upon arriving at the company, he first summoned the management team for a meeting to discuss the investment direction of Yin Entertainment in general.
A recent low-budget film performed surprisingly well at the box office, and the director won the Best Director award nationally. The main actors were all newcomers, and thanks to this film, they suddenly entered the ranks of third-tier actors. Yin Entertainment, being the primary investor, profited tremendously from it.
After the meeting, Shuai Chang swiftly headed to the opening ceremony of a Republican-era espionage drama, arriving just before the scheduled time. He followed the director and actors to light incense before continuing to the next production group.
The next group was shooting a rural romantic comedy in a charming village with a pleasant environment featuring water and trees.
The rocky and bumpy road leading to the village caused Shuai Chang to take a deep breath of fresh air once he stepped out of the car, his pale complexion cold as ice.
The director approached with a big smile, ready to chat, but Yin Haidong was car sick, his demeanor sending a clear message to keep his distance, leaving the director to wait awkwardly.
Yu Lili brought him a cup of hot water; Shuai Chang drank it slowly to soothe his churning stomach, his complexion slightly regaining its color.
The director quickly came over to introduce himself and provided a brief overview of the story.
The drama was titled “Men and Dogs,” telling a pure love story set in the countryside during the 1990s.
After listening to the director’s introduction, with half an hour left before the auspicious time, Shuai Chang decided to take a stroll, noticing the lush trees and clear river surrounding the site.
He declined Yu Lili’s offer to accompany him and walked along the riverbank alone, enjoying the gentle breeze, trees, and birdsong—it all felt so beautiful.
“Haidong.” A man stepped out from behind a tree trunk, slender and dressed in a white shirt and jeans, his simple attire exuding a unique charm.
It was Shen Yunqing.
Shuai Chang frowned. “What are you doing here?”
Shen Yunqing brushed off his coldness and approached with a smile, his captivating eyes sparkling with allure, resembling a walking snow lotus, breathtaking and ethereal.
“Sister Xixi helped me secure a small role in the production. You know I lack experience, so I can only start with minor roles,” he said softly, a hint of melancholy in his voice.
Shuai Chang nodded. “Mm.”
He continued walking.
Shen Yunqing looked at his carefree back in disbelief, “Haidong…” His petal-like lips trembled slightly.
Shuai Chang had little interest in Shen Yunqing, the object of Yin Haidong’s infatuation. A man born into a prestigious family, he had only been in the entertainment industry for a few days before learning to cling to the powerful, yet he stubbornly refused to do so.
After returning from his stroll, the director, actors, and crew had gathered, and Shuai Chang walked over, where the director personally ignited the incense and handed it to him.
Shen Yunqing, merely a minor character, stood at the back and could not approach, gazing longingly at Yin Haidong’s silhouette.
Everything had seemed fine yesterday… Why was Yin Haidong suddenly so cold towards him? He initially overlooked the hints from the previous day, thinking Yin Haidong was merely playing hard to get, only today to find his methods of getting closer futile, as Yin Haidong couldn’t even spare him a word.
Shen Yunqing, now alone in the entertainment industry, encountered a childhood companion but, sensing Yin Haidong’s keen interest, couldn’t say no but felt an unspoken allurement instead.
Though he looked like a girl with his striking beauty, inside he was undeniably very masculine. He put on a facade to navigate the industry, swallowing his discomfort, yet inadvertently provoking Yin Haidong, who might have discovered his true preference for women.
Once the incense was finished, Shuai Chang had little business left. He had a video conference to attend shortly and chose to complete it here before leaving.
“Haidong, please let me explain!”
Just as Shuai Chang was about to get in the car, he was suddenly pulled back by Shen Yunqing rushing over.
Shuai Chang’s demeanor was cold. “No need to explain.” I know your intent.
“No, no, that’s not it.” Shen Yunqing grasped his arm, shaking his head desperately, tears streaming down his porcelain-white cheeks, leaving trails of moisture.
“Haidong, please listen to me, I’m begging you.” Shen Yunqing closed his eyes, seemingly unable to bear the shock and unwilling to face reality.
Annoyed by the entanglement, Shuai Chang lost his composure. He yanked his arm free, signaling Yu Lili to pull Shen Yunqing away, and coldly got into the car.
Sitting down, Shuai Chang glanced at the creases in his sleeve caused by Shen Yunqing’s grasp, feeling quite displeased.
Yu Lili, having been stunned into silence earlier, realized her negligence and, seeing Yin Haidong’s signal, hurried to hug Shen Yunqing. “Yunqing, Mr. Yin is angry! Get a grip!” she whispered urgently in his ear.
Shen Yunqing’s struggle slowly ceased. His clear face was now fully drenched in tears as he raised his head, trying to hold back more tears, his lonely figure appearing so beautiful.
“Sister Lili, I…” Shen Yunqing choked on his words, unable to express himself.
Yu Lili gently stroked his thin back. “Don’t rush, take your time. You’ve just joined the company; be cautious not to anger Mr. Yin. If you get blacklisted, all your efforts will be for nothing.”
