Shaichang gritted his teeth and said, “I won’t take a taxi; I have to prove to you that I’m not just capable, but very capable.”
His body swayed unsteadily, and Qisheng felt a wave of panic, fearing he might suddenly let go or fall. “I believe in you, Lu Mingshen, you’re exceptionally capable!”
“Wao~ Look what I just heard?”
A sleek black BMW stopped beside them, and the window rolled down to reveal a smiling face. The man had a buzz cut, and his eyes sparkled with energy. “Lu Mingshen, impressive! This is your what, fifth boyfriend who thinks so highly of you?”
“Xu Qi.” Seeing the face that Lu Mingshen could never forget, Shaichang was somewhat taken aback, and the strength in his arms slowly slackened, causing Qisheng to step down from him.
“Get in the car.” Xu Qi unlocked the back door.
Qisheng’s gaze bounced between Shaichang and Xu Qi. Shaichang opened the door to let him in first, but Qisheng remained still. “I can’t get into a stranger’s car.”
“Xu Qi is my childhood friend; it’s okay.” To appease Qisheng, Shaichang lied.
Xu Qi was indeed Lu Mingshen’s childhood friend, but he was also Lu Mingshen’s first love in his heart.
Lu Mingshen had harbored a one-sided crush on Xu Qi for ten years, from the age of sixteen to twenty-six. It was only when Xu Qi returned from the military with a girlfriend that Lu Mingshen began to indulge in casual relationships. It could be said that Xu Qi changed Lu Mingshen’s character; he should have been a stable and dedicated man, but heartbreak altered him drastically, making him lose faith in love.
Since Xu Qi got a girlfriend, Lu Mingshen buried himself in work, hiding his feelings for Xu Qi deep within. The two hadn’t seen each other for four years, and they hadn’t contacted each other on WeChat either. Lu Mingshen unilaterally declared a severance of their friendship, blocking Xu Qi on WeChat and his mobile phone.
Now that his soul had switched into Shaichang, Xu Qi, this beloved figure, lost his brilliance and became just a speck of rice stuck on him, insignificant in his eyes.
Lu Mingshen’s misfortune stemmed from himself; Qisheng’s misfortune began with Lu Mingshen, and Xu Qi could also be indirectly blamed for the tragedy.
Moreover, according to the information provided by the spirit group, Xu Qi wasn’t as innocent as he seemed; at the very least, he was aware of Lu Mingshen’s feelings for him but never made it clear for ten years. Now, he was approaching him willingly.
Once they got into the car, Xu Qi inquired about Lu Mingshen’s address, casually saying, “I’m not sure what I did to offend you; it’s been four years since you ignored me. Were you planning to never speak to me again?”
“I’ve already forgotten why I was angry.”
“Then how about taking me off your blacklist?” Xu Qi suggested.
Shaichang opened WeChat and looked for Xu Qi. Lu Mingshen had saved Xu Qi’s contact as ‘Baby’, and Shaichang hurriedly deleted the note, unblocking Xu Qi. The same procedure was followed for his phone contact.
Driving was much faster than walking, and with fewer people around at night, Xu Qi navigated smoothly and delivered them home in just seven minutes.
“Contact me if you need anything; thanks for today.”
Xu Qi smiled and replied, “We grew up together like brothers, no need for thanks.”
Qisheng crossed his arms and scrutinized the two, attempting to glean any clues from their interaction.
Xu Qi had been ignoring him since getting into the car, focusing solely on reminiscing with Lu Mingshen, his attitude a mystery. Although Lu Mingshen didn’t introduce him to Xu Qi, he talked openly with Xu Qi.
Whether they had a past that he was unaware of, Qisheng could establish that beyond being childhood friends, they wouldn’t have any other relationship from now on.
Shaichang told Qisheng to wait a moment, then exited the car first before turning around to carry Qisheng out.
Xu Qi leaned out of the window and said, “Let’s grab a meal together sometime.”
Shaichang nodded, “Sure, drive safely.”
After Xu Qi drove away, Shaichang settled Qisheng on the sofa in the living room, looking for the home first aid kit.
“Xiaosheng, come here, let me take a look at your foot.”
Shaichang lifted Qisheng’s right leg onto his knee, gently removing his shoe to find the white sock stained with blood, almost stuck to the flesh when pulled off.
Shaichang furrowed his brow with concern. “Tomorrow, just stay in bed; I’ll take a leave to be at home and help you with whatever you need.”
Qisheng didn’t oppose it, his eyes shimmering with warmth. “It’s just a small injury; it’ll be fine in two days. Asking for leave is too much.”
“It won’t be,” said Shaichang as he dipped a cotton swab in alcohol and carefully cleaned the wound. “Xiaosheng, you should have confidence in your charm; at least in this lifetime, I won’t stop loving you. Your pain is my pain.” Shaichang had said this more than once today.
His gaze mirrored Qisheng’s face, deep and warm.
“Mingshen…”
The two faces slowly drew closer, breaths mingling, the atmosphere growing intimate.
Shaichang lightly kissed Qisheng’s eyelashes. Qisheng, sensitive, blinked; his eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings. Shaichang slowly descended, kissing his delicate cheek and adorable nose tip before capturing his lips, sucking and nibbling.
“Mm…” Qisheng felt a tingling sensation on his lips, unable to resist parting them to push Shaichang away with his tongue.
Seizing the opportunity, Shaichang slid his tongue into Qisheng’s mouth, and Qisheng completely succumbed, his face flushed, soft moans escaping his lips.
