“Brother knows he’s handsome, so stop staring at me,” Shui Chang said as he raised his hand to cover Fan Luojia’s eyes. The hooks within those eyes could pull at a person’s heart, making Shui Chang hesitant to look for too long. His palm was large enough to cover Fan Luojia’s entire face.
“Brother Haidong, didn’t you say if I was good today I would get a reward? What is the reward?” Fan Luojia asked softly, his eyelashes brushing Shui Chang’s palm as he blinked.
Shui Chang replied, “Do you like acting? The company is preparing a new film. How about letting you be the protagonist?” As his big hand left Fan Luojia’s face, it brushed against his nose.
“Acting? I would love to!” Fan Luojia exclaimed excitedly. “But I haven’t acted in a long time. Aren’t you worried I’ll mess up and cause losses for the company if I’m the main lead?” He looked up, his strikingly clear eyes showing a hint of disappointment as he gazed at Yin Haidong.
Shui Chang nodded with certainty, having confirmed Fan Luojia’s skills through a spiritual group. “I believe in you,” he said seriously.
“Brother Haidong,” Fan Luojia said as he threw himself into Shui Chang’s embrace, his eyes turning red. “I promise I won’t disappoint you.”
Having seen the person he wanted and touched the legs he dreamt of, Shui Chang left feeling delighted.
Yin Haidong’s entertainment company was indeed preparing a grand historical drama, with most of the supporting roles already cast. The main character… was originally meant to please Shen Yunqing, but now that Shui Chang occupied his shell, he naturally would no longer be ambiguous with Shen Yunqing.
Leaving the best for Fan Luojia was what he ought to do.
Back at the company, Shui Chang instructed Yu Lili to arrange for him to participate in next month’s audition for “A Long Song,” hoping to increase his weight as an investor among the interviewers.
Yu Lili replied, “Rest assured, General Manager Yin, I’ve already spoken with Director Song Qiu. He said as long as the acting is on point, he will respect your opinion on the main character.”
Shui Chang nodded in satisfaction.
That evening, he attended a banquet with his female companion—Yin’s company’s leading actress, Yan Shuo. In the midst of the toasts and exchanges, he unexpectedly spotted Shen Yunqing.
Surrounded by two or three spoiled rich young men, Shen Yunqing was forced to drink to the last drop before they filled his glass again. His cheeks were flushed, mingling with the haziness of the alcohol, and the young men were pulling him into a corner with malicious smiles.
Shui Chang was discussing a project with a partner when he saw this. His brows furrowed, and his face turned cold.
The president of the partnering company, Yin Jue, was about to apologize, thinking he might have said something wrong, but Shui Chang interrupted with a curt “Excuse me” and hurried away, leaving Yin Jue dumbfounded.
He approached, his expression icy as he saved the drunken Shen Yunqing, and called Yu Lili to send someone to pick him up.
Because of the incident with Shen Yunqing, Shui Chang had to abandon many networking opportunities and leave in a hurry.
Yu Lili rushed with the driver to the banquet hotel entrance, only to see her president disdainfully grabbing the collar of his scandalous boyfriend, Yunqing. Yu Lili was sure that if Yunqing hadn’t been swaying, her president would never have bothered to touch him.
Yu Lili ran over, and sure enough, Yin Haidong let go of his grip, pushing him toward her. “Take him back to the dormitory.”
As Yu Lili waited for the driver to support Yunqing, she quickly asked, “General Manager Yin, how will you get back?”
Shui Chang replied, “I have my own way; you all can go now.”
He had just texted Fan Luojia, who was currently on the road to pick him up.
As Yin Haidong was indeed wealthy, if something happened, no one could bear the responsibility. Yu Lili was unwilling to leave early, but Shui Chang nodded, instructing the driver to first take Shen Yunqing back before coming back for her.
In the pitch-black night, neon lights flickered, and a silver-grey car stopped in front of them. The window slowly rolled down, revealing a young, energetic, handsome face. Upon seeing the serious expression from her president, Yu Lili instantly smiled sweetly.
“The driver has other business and can only trouble you to pick me up,” he said in a gentle tone that was quite different from the domineering persona she remembered.
The young man in the car smiled, revealing two small tiger teeth. Yu Lili suddenly realized, “You’re Fan Luojia!”
Fan Luojia was highly regarded when he signed under Yin’s company, a rising star. Yu Lili had seen his brilliant smile and never forgotten it.
She hadn’t expected to see him again under such circumstances, and the thought of Fan Luojia and President Yin together… Yu Lili’s thoughts wandered, imagining a love-hate relationship among the three of them.
There was no doubt about Yin Haidong’s special attention toward Yunqing, but now that Fan Luojia appeared, he immediately showed disdain toward Yunqing… Yu Lili didn’t dare think much further and quickly controlled her expression to show a professional smile.
Fan Luojia looked at Yin Haidong with confusion. “Brother Haidong, who is this?”
The fact that he could call her name upon their first meeting couldn’t have come from Yin Haidong; perhaps she was a fan of his.
Yu Lili had been promoted to assistant to the president after Fan Luojia left the entertainment industry, so he did not recognize her.
Shui Chang didn’t mind the gazes from others as he gently brushed his hand across Fan Luojia’s cheek. “This is Yu Lili, my assistant.”
Introducing Yu Lili, he said, “Fan Luojia, you know her. She is currently my lover.”
“Assistant Yu, I didn’t expect you to recognize me,” Fan Luojia initiated a greeting.
“Mr. Fan.”
When introduced by Yin Haidong, Fan Luojia felt as if he were dreaming. Yin Haidong actually introduced him to his assistant and proclaimed him to be his lover… his face turned red.
“Brother Haidong, it’s a cool night; why don’t we get in the car and chat?” Fan Luojia, aware of his flushed face, shyly closed the window and opened the car door for the two.
Shui Chang opened the front passenger door, and before Yu Lili could refuse, she had to sit in the back with them.
With an outsider present, Fan Luojia couldn’t express his affection freely to Yin Haidong. He turned politely and asked, “Assistant Yu, where do you live? Let’s take you home first.”
“No need, no need,” Yu Lili waved her hand in refusal. “The driver will be back soon; no need to trouble you.” Earlier, the glare from President Yin had been laced with pressure, and Yu Lili wouldn’t dare become a third wheel to her superior.
