Mu Chengguang looked at him in confusion. “What did you buy?”
Shuai Chang pointed to the clothes he was wearing and the bag in his hand. “Two shirts, they’re yours now.”
“Teacher Nan, you…” Mu Chengguang had never felt this excited in his twenty-plus years of life; he almost wanted to jump up and hug Nan Yu tightly without letting go.
This was the first time Nan Yu had bought him something! And he bought two!
Being looked at by Mu Chengguang with such an adoring and excited gaze was undeniably fulfilling.
Shuai Chang took Mu Chengguang’s hand and led him outside. “Let’s wander around some more and see if there’s anything else you want to buy.” The attendant in the distance began to glance over; their combination was too eye-catching, only suitable for private spaces, otherwise, they would easily be surrounded by various gazes.
Mu Chengguang obediently followed him, infatuated with Nan Yu’s charming profile. Suddenly, Nan Yu turned around, and Mu Chengguang felt like he was wrapped in gentle waters, floating on air. Shuai Chang saw him tiptoe toward him. “Watch the road, don’t look at me. When we get home, you can look all you want.”
Mu Chengguang snapped back to reality, biting his lip and giggling. “Got it, Teacher Nan.” After saying that, he hugged Nan Yu’s arm, hanging onto it as he walked lightly.
Shuai Chang, despite being strong and fit, could not carry Mu Chengguang’s hundred-plus pounds around the mall. He realized that a little sunlight made Mu Chengguang radiant, and he didn’t feel the slightest bit ashamed about being burdened by him.
“If you keep doing this, we won’t be able to attend the gathering today. I can’t even hold a wine glass when I drink.”
“I know, I know, I’ll let go right away.” Mu Chengguang reluctantly released him but immediately hugged him again. “I’ll walk by myself this time; I won’t cling to you.”
Shuai Chang gave him a helpless glance.
Mu Chengguang walked cheerfully and whispered before entering the specialty store, “If your arm gets tired, I can hold the wine glass for you.”
That would be too embarrassing; Shuai Chang decided to pretend he didn’t hear that.
Mu Chengguang was just joking around.
Today, Nan Yu had given him so many surprises that Mu Chengguang decided he would reward him well.
They entered a mid-range brand specialty store, where the attendant greeted them with a standard smile.
“Summer clothes; bring me all the sizes he can wear.” Mu Chengguang stated directly.
The attendant suppressed her excitement, maintaining her smile as she nodded. After telling the store manager, the manager called other attendants to help find clothes, and the previously idle staff sprang into action.
Shuai Chang wasn’t surprised; all of Nan Yu’s clothes, shoes, and accessories had been bought by Mu Chengguang. Of course, Mu Chengguang had never been so generous as to request all the clothes.
“I’m sure you haven’t thought about how the wardrobe would feel.”
“Then I’ll just buy another wardrobe.”
“…There’s no space for another wardrobe at home.”
Fortunately, Mu Chengguang didn’t mention moving to a more spacious place; after all, all his savings came from the pocket money given by Mu Feng. His allowance allowed him to buy many clothes but not enough to casually buy a large villa.
Shuai Chang tried on two pieces per Mu Chengguang’s wishes, and each time he came out of the fitting room, he saw Mu Chengguang propping up his chin, playing the role of an admiring fan. “Teacher Nan, you look handsome in anything you wear.” Luckily, he had decisively tied Mu Chengguang down legally, or he wouldn’t know how many rivals he would face now.
“Since I’m already handsome, there’s no need to try anymore. I’ll wear this outfit; pack up the rest and send them home.” Shuai Chang didn’t want to try each piece one by one.
Although Mu Chengguang would miss seeing Nan Yu’s fashion showdown, he disliked the way the attendant looked at Nan Yu, so upon hearing Nan Yu’s decision, Mu Chengguang directly nodded in agreement and told the attendant to wrap it up while he followed to pay at the front desk.
Shuai Chang didn’t rush to pay, even though the attendant’s gaze toward him included feelings of something else. His salary couldn’t cover his credit card bill for the month, and his credit card limit was only ten thousand.
Mu Chengguang left his phone number and address, paid half the deposit, and the remaining half would be collected when the staff delivered the items tomorrow.
“Are you satisfied?”
Mu Chengguang nodded. “Of course. Teacher Nan, I really regret not bringing you sunglasses when we went out. Let’s go buy a pair at Secret; I don’t like how others look at you.”
Shuai Chang stood out in the crowd like a glowing figure, and Mu Chengguang noticed several young girls pointing at him, guessing if he was a celebrity, wanting to come over for an autograph.
After buying sunglasses, Mu Chengguang was satisfied. “It’s getting late; we should head there now.” The gathering location was set at a farmhouse in the suburbs; they, who grew up in luxury, had long been bored with the city’s entertainment. Now, rich second-generation kids preferred to return to the countryside and enjoy the peace and warmth.
“I have three childhood friends from families similar to mine, all raised in a big compound. Yan Qinghe is a year older than me and comes from a family that runs a hospital. He works at the city hospital now and has already become a chief physician, the quintessential ‘other children.’ Liu Zhi and Qian Xiang are the same age as me, and their families are in business; they now work at their own companies.”
Shuai Chang nodded, a combination of three troublemakers and one top student.
By the time they arrived at the farmhouse in the suburbs, it was just before seven. Entering the hall, bright white LED lights illuminated the room softly. On the sofa sat a man and a woman. Shuai Chang looked at Mu Chengguang with a questioning gaze—why was there a woman? Coincidentally, Mu Chengguang looked back, transmitting the same message in their eyes.
“Liu Zhi, you arrived pretty early. Who’s this beautiful lady?” Mu Chengguang stepped forward and patted Liu Zhi on the back.
Wearing thin summer clothes, the sound of the slap was crisp; Liu Zhi was startled as he was talking to the girl. “Mu Chengguang, you scared me to death!”
Mu Chengguang shrugged innocently. “Who told you to be so engrossed in conversation with a beauty that you didn’t see me?”
Liu Zhi rubbed his shoulder with his other hand. “You little brat, that was way too hard; it really hurts.”
“Alright, I was wrong; is that okay? I’ll drink an extra cup later.”
