Axi Berne shook his head, “It’s alright.”
Shuai Chang’s face was cold, “Don’t take others’ kindness for granted; no one is obligated to save you. I hope I don’t hear such words again; otherwise, I will directly take His Highness the Saint Son away.”
Everyone stared at him fearfully, no one daring to make a sound.
Axi Berne tugged on Shuai Chang’s sleeve, whispering, “Let’s go.”
Shuai Chang swept his sharp gaze over everyone, snorting coldly as he supported the weak Axi Berne and left.
Once out of their sight, Shuai Chang picked up Axi Berne and carried him to the carriage, placing him gently inside.
“Doug, let’s go to the seaside,” Axi Berne said, exhausted, closing his eyes. It wasn’t just his body that was tired; his heart ached for the person he wanted to save.
Shuai Chang gently touched Axi Berne’s long hair and said, “Don’t mind them; the most important person is me. From now on, try to care only about me. If others want to help, fine. If they don’t, then that’s fine too. Don’t feel sad about it.”
Axi Berne nodded and slowly closed his eyes.
Shuai Chang knew that Axi Berne was no longer the person he healed at Newcomer Liusen Fishing Ground, which is why he wanted to go to the seaside outside the fishing ground.
Shuai Chang leisurely drove the carriage back to the spot where they had bathed in the sea breeze last night. There was a large, flat black rock there, where they could lie down and sleep without any issue.
He spread out a blanket on the rock and carried Axi Berne onto it. The salty, humid sea breeze tousled Axi Berne’s golden hair, and Shuai Chang used a ribbon to tie it back, preventing it from flying around.
He gently kissed the corner of Axi Berne’s lips, “Just sleep well, my dear.”
Axi Berne slept for a whole week, during which he relied entirely on Shuai Chang to feed him. When he finally woke up, it was morning, with the rising sun. He found himself in Shuai Chang’s embrace, the strong arms holding him tightly. When Axi Berne moved slightly, Shuai Chang immediately opened his eyes and exclaimed in surprise, “Axie, you finally woke up.”
Noticing Axi Berne looked uncomfortable, Shuai Chang released him, allowing him to lie comfortably.
Axi Berne’s skin had regained its luster, his gaze bright, resembling two emeralds, glistening in the sunlight.
“Doug, did you notice what’s different about me?”
Shuai Chang looked Axi Berne over from head to toe and reached a conclusion, “You’ve become more beautiful.”
Axi Berne blushed and shook his head, “No, feel my hand.”
Shuai Chang grasped Axi Berne’s tender little hand, “Is it very smooth?”
Axi Berne replied, “You need to feel it more attentively.”
As Shuai Chang stroked, he felt a little stirred and forced himself to remain calm, “I can’t figure it out.”
The collar of Axi Berne’s shirt was a bit loose; when he turned his body, a small patch of fair skin was exposed. Shuai Chang swallowed hard, his voice low and hoarse, “Can I feel it elsewhere?”
Shuai Chang took Axi Berne’s hand to a warm place, causing Axi Berne’s fingers to unconsciously curl, unwittingly touching…
In the vast open space, Axi Berne’s hand intimately brushed against Shuai Chang’s.
Axi Berne felt like he had wasted the past twenty years; it was only after meeting Doug that he realized there were so many delightful things in the world.
The sun rose high, pouring golden sunlight over the coast, covering the world with a thin layer of golden gauze.
Axi Berne tugged at Shuai Chang’s collar, breathlessly blushing, “Doug, this is too embarrassing; please don’t do this again.”
Shuai Chang kissed him, “Don’t like it?”
Axi Berne recalled the intense pleasure he had just experienced and, with a guilty conscience, replied, “I don’t like it.”
Shuai Chang chuckled, his teasing voice ringing in Axi Berne’s ears, “Who was it that just said they wanted more? And who was trembling and so excited they couldn’t even speak? Isn’t this a bit heartless?”
Axi Berne couldn’t argue back because what Shuai Chang said was all true.
He flushed and pushed Shuai Chang away to sit up, “Waking up to this kind of stuff wasted so much time.”
“Otherwise, what do you want to do? Go save people?” Shuai Chang sat up beside him.
Axi Berne straightened his clothes, basking in the warm sunlight, lazily saying, “You still haven’t guessed what changes I have; I’ll give you another chance.”
Standing against the wind on the black rock, Axi Berne’s long hair danced behind him, and his wide sleeves billowed in the breeze, his slender body seemingly ready to be blown away.
Shuai Chang reached out and grabbed his ankle. Axi Berne looked down at him curiously, and Shuai Chang sensed the pulsing power of light beneath Axi Berne’s skin. “Has your power of light grown stronger?”
From a magic apprentice to a Holy Archmage, the power of light within him had transitioned from a gaseous state to a liquid one. Now, Axi Berne’s power of light was thick and almost solidifying.
Axi Berne smiled brightly, “You’re right, but there’s no reward.”
“To be honest, I was startled when you woke up. No mage has ever had solidified magical power. But I think being the Son of the Light God means I might be able to break through the confines of a Holy Archmage and become a demigod.”
A demigod lacks divine status, gaining it through the power of faith. As long as faith exists, he would be an immortal being in Hughes Continent.
Shuai Chang felt enormous pressure; whatever level of mage, their lifespan is limited to just a hundred years. Now Axi Berne could soon become a demigod with infinite life; if he died early, Axi Berne would be devastated.
Axi Berne thought of this too, squatting down to hug Shuai Chang, “Doug, if there were no you in this world, there would be no meaning to my life.”
Shuai Chang stroked Axi Berne’s soft hair, “I know, Axie.”
Becoming a demigod was supposed to be a good thing, but due to fear and Shuai Chang’s potential departure, Axi Berne felt anxious, holding Shuai Chang’s hand tightly, unwilling to leave him even a step.
“Axie, I’m only in my twenties. We still have at least seventy years. We will definitely find a way, so don’t be afraid,” Shuai Chang said, feigning ease, “Don’t you want to happily be together with me?”
