“Ah! My boss has become a governor! Hahaha! Boss, you are truly my boss!”
Shuai Chang remarked, “You’re getting so worked up over a minor governor position? If you knew he was the crown prince, wouldn’t you go mad from joy?” Shuai Chang figured it was better not to inform him too quickly.
“Governor! You must stand up for me!” Ayarlind grasped Shuai Chang’s hand, his gaze earnest.
“What do you want me to do for you?”
Ayarlind looked sadly at Xia Zuo: “Xia Zuo is in fifth grade this year…”
“So?”
Ayarlind replied, “The school rule states that only sixth graders and above can date. We can’t even talk without sneaking around. Boss, you have to convince the principal to abolish this ridiculous rule. I just don’t want to date Xia Zuo in secrecy anymore. We’re clearly in love. Why can’t we be together openly?”
After listening, Shuai Chang nodded reservedly: “I understand; you want to cling to Xia Zuo every day, but school rules don’t allow that.”
Ayarlind grew excited: “Exactly! Can you get the principal to eliminate this regulation?”
Shuai Chang replied, “I can, but…”
“But what?”
Shuai Chang continued, “The school is on summer break in a week, right? You said you wanted to enlist in the military this year. You and Xia Zuo will definitely get your certificate during the summer break, and on the first day of school, you can just participate in the selection and then drop out to join the military… With you no longer in school, what does this rule matter to you?”
Ayarlind was left speechless.
An Qiluo and Xia Zuo couldn’t help but chuckle.
After a while, Ayarlind finally grasped the situation. He awkwardly scratched his head and said, “Even though it won’t concern me anymore, I’m willing to be the first to point out the shortcomings of this rule for the younger students.”
Shuai Chang said, “Since you’re calling me boss…” he decided to help with this matter.
“Thank you, boss!” Ayarlind leaped up excitedly, “My boss is amazing, even better than the principal! Even if you’re not in the military, you can still take charge for me. Boss, my admiration for you flows like an endless river…”
“Stop right there; listening to your compliments gives me a headache.” Shuai Chang stood up, “Let’s go to the principal’s office together.”
“Let’s go!” Ayarlind confidently led the way, and the four of them became quite the focus as they walked through the campus.
They had a smooth journey and arrived at the principal’s office. Ayarlind raised his hand to knock, but he hesitated before actually knocking. He looked at Shuai Chang, who tilted his chin to encourage him not to be afraid. Gathering his courage, Ayarlind knocked three times on the door.
“Come in.” A dignified voice responded from inside.
Ayarlind twisted the doorknob, allowing Shuai Chang, An Qiluo, and Xia Zuo to enter first. He followed behind, closing the door once all four had entered.
“May I help you, students?” the principal, who was in his forties with noticeable lines at the corners of his eyes and mouth, asked sternly.
“Ayarlind, you speak.” Shuai Chang pulled the hesitant Ayarlind forward.
Xia Zuo had never seen Ayarlind so timid and couldn’t help but remember how adorable he looked when he was timid in his panda form.
Ayarlind made an effort to appear calm but ended up not knowing where to place his hands and feet when he stood before the principal.
“Principal…”
“Just call me Principal Stephen; there’s no need for the formalities.”
“Right, Principal Stephen. I’d like to introduce this student; his name is Adonis, and he entered the military department after passing the selection last year.”
The principal set down the documents he was holding: “Returning to study?”
“No,” Ayarlind said, his eyes darting around, not daring to look at Principal Stephen directly. He had already reported him to the principal, and now he was bringing him along. He felt like the worst student imaginable.
Principal Stephen patiently waited for him to finish.
Ayarlind continued, “It’s like this, Principal Stephen. Adonis is here today as a governor to discuss a matter with you.”
Principal Stephen didn’t immediately believe him, but he quickly stood, walked around the desk, and extended his hand to Adonis: “So, you are the governor. May I ask if you have an official seal?”
Shuai Chang retrieved a small golden seal from his ring, and Principal Stephen respectfully took it, scrutinizing it closely. Realizing it was genuine, he returned it to Shuai Chang and shook his hand briefly.
Principal Stephen smiled broadly: “I’ve heard that the governor endorsed by Caesar the Great is a promising young talent; I couldn’t have imagined that Lord Adonis left the school only a year ago. Hahaha, it seems you and the Beastman Academy share a special connection.”
“Indeed,” Shuai Chang said, appearing approachable, which made Principal Stephen feel more comfortable and not think he was here to cause trouble.
Principal Stephen asked, “What does the governor wish to discuss?”
“I’ll be straightforward. I’ve heard that the Beastman Academy has a new rule that students must be in sixth grade or above to date. Do you not find this slightly inhumane? When I left school, I was only in fifth grade. If the school doesn’t allow us to date, then prior to the military selection, Ayarlind and I wouldn’t have enough time to develop our feelings for marriage. If that were the case, I wouldn’t be standing here as a governor in front of Principal Stephen now… What do you think, Principal?”
Principal Stephen thought to himself, since you’re using your own example, what can I say? “As you said, Lord Governor, this regulation does need to be revised. How about changing it to allow dating from fourth grade onward? I truly don’t feel comfortable allowing younger students to date freely in third grade.”
Shuai Chang nodded in satisfaction: “Principal Stephen is very considerate; let’s change it as you suggested.”
“The matter is settled, and we shall take our leave now. I don’t want to disturb Principal Stephen’s work any longer.”
Principal Stephen escorted the four students out of his office and sincerely said, “Governor, how about I invite you for lunch in the cafeteria on the second floor today? Although the cafeteria is simple, the stir-fried dishes there are quite good.”
Shuai Chang shook his head: “No need to trouble you, Principal Stephen. An Qiluo and I have other matters to attend to and will be leaving soon.”
