Yarleng clenched his fist in excitement, “You’re right! It’s indeed our school’s rule!” If he could successfully report this and have the patrol officer abolish the rule, he and Xia Zuo could finally date properly for the next year.
The cold-faced man asked, “Does Yarleng have a boyfriend?”
Yarleng nodded with a blissful smile on his face. “Of course, as you say, I do have one.”
The cold-faced man pressed further, “Is he a female beastman in the sixth grade?”
Yarleng shook his head. The cold-faced man’s gaze intensified. “He’s in the fifth grade. We’ve been in love for two years, but because of this new rule, we had to hide and run around to meet each other.” Yarleng sighed.
“What’s his name?” the cold-faced man’s fists clenched tightly.
“His name is Xia Zuo. Isn’t it a nice name?” Yarleng was completely oblivious to the looming danger, cheerfully introducing his boyfriend. “He is so beautiful, with chestnut-colored hair, big eyes, and very fair skin. In my eyes, he is the best female. But because of that ridiculous rule, we…” As he spoke, he looked hopefully at the cold-faced man, hoping this ‘patrol officer’ would help him be with Xia Zuo in the end.
The icy gaze of the cold-faced man met Yarleng’s, causing him to shiver involuntarily. “What’s wrong with you?” The man seemed angry, not at the ridiculous rule but at him, carrying a deep resentment.
The cold-faced man didn’t answer and suddenly transformed into a beast and lunged at Yarleng.
The cold-faced man transformed into a horned deer, with sharp antlers capable of piercing through skin easily.
Yarleng had just upgraded to a seven-star level and immediately transformed into a giant panda to evade the deer’s attack.
In the split moment of transformation, he suddenly realized the cold-faced man was not a patrol officer but probably his enemy!
The cold-faced man attacked ruthlessly, igniting Yarleng’s anger. He reciprocated without holding back, quickly seizing the moment to trip the horned deer and sat on its belly.
The horned deer nearly spewed blood. Yarleng, despite being slender, couldn’t be too light as a panda. The horned deer rolled its eyes and reverted to human form.
Yarleng, worried about causing serious injury, noted that the cold-faced man had lost his fighting capability. He transformed back into his human form and dragged the cold-faced man over to a tree, pulling out a rope from his newly bought storage ring to tie him to the trunk. “You are suspected of murder; I will report you to the police.”
The cold-faced man held back a cough, furious but unable to speak.
“Yarleng, I’m here!” Xia Zuo’s cheerful voice broke the tense atmosphere as he bounced over.
Yarleng didn’t want Xia Zuo to worry. He took a couple of steps forward, wrapping his arm around him and turning. “Let’s go over there and take a look. I feel like the air isn’t good here; it’s a bit cold. What if you freeze?”
Xia Zuo, trusting him, smiled softly. “Alright, it’s fine as long as Yarleng is with me.”
Suddenly, a furious roar came from behind. “Xia En! You two, stop right there!”
Xia Zuo’s smile faltered, and Yarleng patted his slender back. “Just a bored person; there’s no need to pay him any mind.”
However, Xia Zuo didn’t seem comforted and looked at Yarleng with teary eyes, causing Yarleng to be perplexed. “What’s wrong, baby? Don’t cry.”
“He… he’s my brother.” After twenty years of hearing this voice, he couldn’t be mistaken.
Yarleng was taken aback, swallowing hard. “You mean that cold-faced man is your brother?”
Xia Zuo nodded decisively. His brother was known for maintaining a cold demeanor except around him.
Yarleng thought to himself: This is bad; I just sat on my brother-in-law, but what a relief!
Yarleng accompanied Xia Zuo in front of his brother-in-law, bowing apologetically as he untied him. The brother-in-law stood up, shaking off the rope, and Xia Zuo quickly added, “Brother, Yarleng didn’t do it on purpose.”
Xia Zuo tugged at Yarleng’s sleeve. “Yarleng, let me introduce you. This is my brother, whom I’ve mentioned multiple times. He has always cared for me since childhood; his name is Finchi.”
Yarleng took a couple of steps back and bowed deeply. “Hello, brother-in-law!”
Finchi’s face turned pale with anger. “Who is your brother-in-law! Xia En, I absolutely cannot allow you to be with this rogue violent man!”
Xia Zuo’s eyes turned red. “Brother, you just shouted at me…”
Finchi’s expression changed, adjusting it to a softer tone, “Xia En, I wasn’t talking about you. I was yelling at Yarleng.”
Xia Zuo sniffled, “I don’t care; Yarleng is my boyfriend, and you can’t yell at him. Otherwise, I’ll be mad!”
Finchi was willing to compromise on everything for Xia Zuo, except for Yarleng. “Even if you get angry, you cannot be with Yarleng.”
“Why not? Yarleng treats me so well.” Xia Zuo started to cry sadly.
Yarleng took Xia Zuo into his arms for comfort, insisting, “Xia En, don’t cry. I won’t give up on us. In this life, I will only love you.”
Finchi, rendered powerless, saw Yarleng hugging his precious younger brother and sneered sharply, “You’re a penniless fool. What will you offer to my treasured brother, raised in wealth and comfort? Do you want him to eat just the scraps with you?”
“Xia En, don’t be fooled by his sweet words. He’s only interested in our family’s money; you’re still young and don’t know how wicked those male beastmen can be.”
Xia En looked up from Yarleng’s embrace, tears still in his eyes. “Brother, it was my decision. I pursued Yarleng; please don’t say such things about him.”
Finchi was thunderstruck, unable to process the information. “How is that possible?!” His precious younger brother, who should be pursued by countless excellent male beastmen, was claiming to have chased after Yarleng, the poverty-stricken male beastman.
Finchi refused to accept reality. Gritting his teeth, he grabbed Xia Zuo’s hand and said, “Xia En, come home with me, or I’ll go report him to the head of the department for enticing you.”
“Brother?!” Xia Zuo looked at Finchi in disbelief.
Finchi coldly snorted, “Xia En, when you calm down, you’ll understand that I’m doing this for your own good.”
