In May, the weather gradually turned warmer. The audition for *A Long Song* was held in the Yinshi Film and Television Building.
Fan Luojia ultimately signed with Yuejue Entertainment; his pre-debut and post-debut promotions were handled entirely by the company.
Yinshi Film and Television is a major player in the industry, while Yuejue Entertainment has top-tier resources. Shuai Chang informed Fan Luojia of the pros and cons of both companies so he could choose which to sign with. Fan Luojia bit his lip and quickly chose Yuejue Entertainment.
Shuai Chang respected his decision; now Yuejue Entertainment held 30% of his shares, meaning Fan Luojia could bring him considerable profits wherever he went.
He was supposed to act as an interviewer during the audition, but due to sudden issues with Yinshi’s business in the U.S., he had to fly out immediately, recommending Yin Jue to take his place.
Shuai Chang had mentioned to Yin Jue that Fan Luojia was an actor he was quite optimistic about, and at the time, Yin Jue had responded with a long “oh,” his expression very intriguing.
Shuai Chang calmly sipped his tea to resist the teasing gaze directed at him.
He wondered what the outcome would be now.
Standing by the window, holding a goblet and gently swirling the crimson liquid inside, he reflected.
It was deep into the night in New York. He had worked all day, and with Fan Luojia’s situation unresolved, he couldn’t fall asleep.
He couldn’t pinpoint when he had started caring so much about him. Initially, his good treatment of Fan Luojia stemmed from responsibility; even though Fan Luojia’s legs fascinated him, Shuai Chang was not a man easily swayed by external factors. He had always been calm when it came to self-control.
As they spent more time together later, he had grown accustomed to cherishing Fan Luojia, treating him like a younger brother. However, Fan Luojia’s occasional boundary-crossing actions left him at a loss.
Suddenly, the urgent ring of the presidential suite’s phone broke the silence. Shuai Chang picked up his phone—it was Fan Luojia.
“Hello? Luojia.”
“Brother Haidong…” Fan Luojia’s voice was hoarse.
Shuai Chang’s heart sank. “Who bullied you? Tell me, and Brother Haidong will help you deal with him.”
Fan Luojia sniffed. “No one bullied me. I just finished the audition, and my emotions haven’t fully detached from the script. Brother Haidong, I miss you.”
Shuai Chang couldn’t help but smile. He set down the goblet and sat on the sofa. “Behave yourself. I’ll be back in two days.”
“Two more days… Brother Haidong, do you miss me? Just like I miss you.”
Shuai Chang was well-practiced at skillfully avoiding ambiguous points while providing answers that pleased Fan Luojia. “Of course. Luojia, do you have anything else to do right now?”
“I’m waiting for Jue Ge to have lunch with me.”
“As long as you’re having a good time.” Shuai Chang originally thought to ask Fan Luojia for a video call since he hadn’t seen him for days and missed him, but since he had other matters, it was better to let him be.
After hanging up, Shuai Chang thought that if he were in C country now, the person dining with Fan Luojia would definitely not be Yin Jue.
He prepared to read a book to cultivate his sleepiness, selecting a dense and difficult economics text. Just after reading a line, his phone rang again.
It wasn’t an incoming call tone. Shuai Chang set down the book and picked up the phone, unable to suppress a smile, feeling as if someone had sprinkled sugar in his heart—it was a bit sweet.
He clicked to accept, and after a brief shake, Fan Luojia’s face appeared on the screen, his eyes fixed on him.
“Brother Haidong, aren’t you surprised? I specially found a quiet place to video chat with you. Since you miss me, I can’t let you not see me, right?”
Fan Luojia looked radiant, probably already out of character.
Shuai Chang held the phone closer to see Fan Luojia, who said, “Brother Haidong, move the phone further away; I can’t see your face.”
“Okay.” Shuai Chang awkwardly touched his nose, placing the phone on the coffee table to rest against a glass.
However, the camera was now shooting from below, capturing mostly Shuai Chang’s chin, and the image was unflattering.
“Ah, forget it. I really shouldn’t ask too much of you,” Fan Luojia said helplessly.
Shuai Chang: “…”
“How did the audition go today? Do you have a good feeling about it?” He thought for a moment and shifted the topic to something he was interested in.
“Of course!” Fan Luojia was very confident about acting; aside from seasoned veterans, there weren’t any actors his age with better skills than him.
“Then I’ll congratulate Luojia in advance. What gift do you want me to bring back?”
Fan Luojia said, “You coming back is the best gift.”
Shuai Chang waved his hand. “You really are a clever little piglet. I was going to get some information from you, but I didn’t expect you to see through it. Alright, I’ll just buy something for myself. Just so you know, whatever I bring you, you mustn’t reject.”
They chatted about mundane things for a while when suddenly Fan Luojia remembered something, anxiously saying, “You’re in America now, isn’t it the middle of the night? Hurry, I have to hang up; go to sleep!”
With a “thud,” the phone screen turned black, and Fan Luojia sent another message: “Hubby, go to sleep early. Mwah~”
Shuai Chang stood up, only then feeling the fatigue in his body. He stretched his shoulders and headed to wash up.
The next day, Shuai Chang personally picked a gift for Fan Luojia—a pair of sapphire cufflinks.
Fan Luojia would need accessories like these for various ceremonies to showcase his taste and enhance his image.
The results of the *A Long Song* audition were announced just as Shuai Chang returned to the country. He waited a long time before boarding the plane without receiving any news.
Once he got off the plane, he immediately turned on his phone, and Fan Luojia had sent him a WeChat message.
Jia: Didn’t disgrace your expectations ^O^
Shuai Chang felt elated.
He eagerly dialed Fan Luojia’s number, but it rang several times with no answer.
Seeing Yu Lili, who had come to pick him up, Shuai Chang walked over to ask about Fan Luojia.
“How is he? Why isn’t he answering my calls?”
Yu Lili followed him into the car, pondering, “Young Master Fan has already entered the set; he’s probably filming now…”
