Shuai Chang chuckled, “Don’t worry, Cheng Ai’s first learned word will definitely be ‘dad,’ not ‘uncle.'”
“Bro, you haven’t told me why you needed to see me yet.”
On the other side of the screen, Mother Zhou heard this and said, “Since you two brothers have things to discuss, I’ll hang up first.”
Shuai Chang said, “What I want to talk about is related to Fan Shang. He sent me a direct message on Weibo today. Do you want to see it?”
Zhou Zhenfei’s smile faded from his face. “I don’t want to see it.”
A few minutes later, Zhou Zhenfei held Shuai Chang’s phone and began to study what Fan Shang meant.
“Bro, Fan Shang said there was an accident at his home and that he only just resolved it. Do you think it’s true?” Zhou Zhenfei asked.
Shuai Chang replied, “I don’t think Fan Shang has any reason to lie.”
“Should I go meet him then?” Zhou Zhenfei asked, troubled.
Shuai Chang said, “That’s something you have to ask yourself. Do you want to see him? Do you want to know why he deleted you from WeChat? Do you want to know about the ambiguous feelings he has with the movie queen? Do you want to know the inside story of his heartbreak?”
With tear-filled eyes, Zhou Zhenfei said, “I want to…”
Shuai Chang replied, “Then go; he can’t possibly eat you. If after an explanation, there’s still a chance for you both, then try dating and leave the matter of Cheng Ai being his son for later.”
Zhou Zhenfei nodded, determined, and said, “Bro, tell him to meet at the coffee shop downstairs from the company at eight on Friday morning; that way, it will be just in time for work.”
To still think about work at this time, Zhou Zhenfei was undoubtedly a Zen workaholic.
On Friday, Zhou Zhenfei got up early, dressed up, and drove to the company before seven. When Mother Zhou asked about Shuai Chang, he said there was an urgent matter at the company needing him.
Zhou Zhenfei arrived at the coffee shop half an hour early and immediately spotted Fan Shang inside.
As the familiar face suddenly appeared before him, Zhou Zhenfei felt a pinch in his nose, on the brink of tears.
He held back his tears, sitting across from Fan Shang with red-rimmed eyes.
“Long time no see.”
Fan Shang was momentarily taken aback upon seeing him, feeling something special in his heart. He remembered the last time they met in a coffee shop, Zhou Zhenfei had arrived half an hour early, so this time he arrived at seven, not wanting Zhou Zhenfei to wait.
“Long time no see. How have you been?” Fan Shang asked in a hoarse voice.
Zhou Zhenfei nodded. “Not bad, you should know, I have a son now.”
Fan Shang impulsively said, “The child’s mother…”
“The child has no mother, only me as the father.”
Zhou Zhenfei said, “Weren’t you going to explain things to me?”
“Wait a minute. What do you want to drink? I need to gather my thoughts.”
Zhou Zhenfei ordered a cappuccino and got Fan Shang an iced Americano.
“Order is done, you can talk now.”
Fan Shang recounted all the events of the past ten months to Zhou Zhenfei, anxiously awaiting the verdict.
Zhou Zhenfei asked, “Are you saying you deleted me as a friend because your phone was stolen, and the thief deleted your WeChat friends and contacts?”
Fan Shang nodded.
Zhou Zhenfei continued, “So the movie queen, Qu Qing’er, is married, and her husband is a good friend of yours? The affectionate look you had toward her was actually gratitude?”
Another nod from Fan Shang.
Zhou Zhenfei asked again, “Is your sister fully recovered now?”
A couple of nods.
Zhou Zhenfei pressed, “Why are you explaining all of this to me? Do you… like me?”
Fan Shang nodded repeatedly.
Zhou Zhenfei prompted, “Speak.”
Fan Shang said seriously, “I like you very much. I was very jealous and sad that you had a baby with someone else.”
Zhou Zhenfei thought: Then I won’t tell you that the child is yours.
