“Li Hui, calm down, calm down. First, put down what you have in your hands!”
“If you put down what’s in your hands now, I can pretend nothing happened!”
The captain watched in horror as Li Hui frantically tore up Zhou Yan’s notice, his eyes filled with rage.
This madwoman!
“Zhou Yan, look at your so-called good friends, ha ha ha…”
The others just calmly observed Li Hui.
“Li Hui, we’ve given you chances, why don’t you cherish them?” Zhou Yan asked coldly, her face reflecting betrayal.
“You should see what you’re actually holding!”
“No way, no way! You must be deceiving me, it can’t be true…”
Li Hui realized something was off upon seeing everyone’s reactions. She collapsed to the ground, her hands scattering torn paper across the floor.
Ji Chen leaned against Ye Qiu, unable to believe such a thing could happen to him, and he was grateful that Ye Qiu and the others had warned him ahead of time.
Just the thought of his notice being ripped up without him knowing could drive anyone insane.
Captain: So I’m the only fool kept in the dark.
When the police came to take away Li Hui, she had already lost her mind.
“I’m innocent! I didn’t tear up the notice; I’m about to go to university! You can’t arrest me; I’m the pride of the village’s university students!”
“I will report Ji Chen for buying answers in advance; everyone who is close to him knows the answers to get accepted!”
“He must have pulled strings to get me dismissed because he dislikes me; it’s unfair!”
“Not to mention Ji Chen, he’s a pervert who likes men; he doesn’t deserve to go to college!”
Unfortunately, even if Li Hui exposed Ji Chen as gay, no one would believe her.
“Why would she do this? She clearly said she was determined to study hard for university!”
Zhou Yan watched Li Hui being taken away, feeling lost. Had Li Hui been deceiving her all this time?
Who could imagine that someone who lived and cared for her every day truly wanted to take her place?
Seeing Zhou Yan fall into the shadow of Li Hui, she sighed.
Ye Qiu picked up a notebook with Li Hui’s name on it, “Have you thought that she wanted to replace you in going to university?”
Zhou Yan opened it and felt a chill as she recognized her nearly identical handwriting.
This was her true motive: to take her place and go to college.
Ji Chen felt a wave of disgust.
After the distressing scene ended, the captain gathered several youths for a group photo, with Ye Qiu generously offering that everyone could have their own picture.
Cherishing their own photo, the youths regained their lively spirits.
In a corner, the photographer took pictures of Ye Qiu and Ji Chen separately.
Suddenly, a shout broke the calm.
“Ye Qiu, there’s a problem at home; two police officers have come!”
Just as one issue settled, another arose.
When a group returned to the Ye family, two uniformed officers stood at the door.
“Who is Ye Qiu? We received a report that you are illegally operating and selling substandard products. Please cooperate with our investigation now.”
The officers looked at the Ye family’s courtyard with a knowing expression; indeed, it looked just like what was described in the report.
How could products made in such a place be qualified?
What if ordinary people unknowingly ate unsafe food?
“Comrade police, there must be a misunderstanding; we are a legitimate factory! We’ve been running around for a week just for those certificates!” Ye Mu explained nervously.
“Yes, our products are sold at the train station and the supply and marketing cooperative; how could there be a problem!”
“Do you have certificates?”
A legitimate factory? What’s happening here?
The two officers were puzzled. The report clearly stated that the Ye family factory was just a family workshop using leftover kitchen scraps.
Ye Qiu held out the factory’s certificates, “Officer, our family is made up of honest villagers; how could we do something unethical!”
After looking at the certificates and seeing no issues, their minds were still full of questions. “Although all the documents are in order, we still need to inspect your factory environment!”
They moved to enter when the old lady blocked the doorway, and the officers’ expressions changed.
“This is my home, not a factory. If you want to check, you can visit the factory.”
They claimed there was no problem!
If there was truly no issue, how could they not let them in?
They had just seemed cooperative, but as soon as a check was mentioned, they refused entry; clearly, something was amiss.
There must be a problem!
“Today, if you say I can enter, then I will; if you say I can’t, I will still enter!”
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed villagers gathering behind him; were they starting to threaten them?
He didn’t care. As a glorious people’s police officer, one must bravely fight against evil forces!
With a determined spirit of sacrifice, everything was for the people.
“Why are those two police officers checking the factory instead of going there? Why come to someone’s house?”
“Could they be imposters? No way, they look quite convincing.”
“Did you hear that? Two fake police from the neighbouring village tricked people for food and drink!”
This is truly other people’s business!
Hearing the villagers’ conversation, the two young officers blushed. This wasn’t a factory!
Ye Qiu, seeing the officers’ faces turning red, kindly assured them that he wasn’t doing it on purpose, “Comrade police, this shows responsibility. Some unscrupulous factories react strongly during inspections and even assault officers; it’s because of officers like you that we can eat in peace.”
“That’s true.”
“Being a police officer is so hard and dangerous; it’s really not easy.”
Hearing the villagers, the two officers relaxed a bit. Following Ye Qiu’s words, they responded, “Sorry, comrades, we’re just used to our work.”
“Gentlemen, my family factory is at the back of the village; let me show you around.”
At the end of the village stood a house with light blue tiles.
