Suddenly, the door swung open, and a hand pulled Song Jincheng inside.
This all happened in an instant, and by the time Song Jincheng regained his senses, he was already surrounded by several students.
“Have the zombies outside been dealt with?”
The girl who had just spoken to him inside the door looked at Song Jincheng with excitement.
“No,” Song Jincheng shook his head.
The girl was taken aback for a moment. “Then are you sent by the base? How many of you are there? Can we safely reach the base?”
Song Jincheng did not answer the first question; after all, if he said no, his identity and purpose would be very suspicious.
“Only me.”
When the girl heard this, the light in her eyes dimmed.
“Then how are we supposed to get to the base? There are too many zombies outside. With just us, we can’t even leave the school.”
However, a boy suggested they follow him.
“Staying here will only lead to starvation; we might as well take a gamble and follow him!”
After the boy spoke, not one of the other four students responded to his idea.
Song Jincheng noticed their hesitance.
“Don’t worry, I will ensure you reach the base safely!”
“Let’s follow him.”
A boy who had been sitting silently throughout finally spoke up.
“Shixiong.”
The four other students looked at him in unison, not understanding why he would agree to follow someone who seemed to have no real abilities.
He did not explain further and walked up to Song Jincheng.
“Hello, my name is Bo Yanan.”
Song Jincheng did not expect him to come and talk, and for a moment, he was at a loss for words.
“Ah, hello, I’m Song Jincheng.”
He politely extended his hand for a handshake, but when he tried to pull back, Bo Yanan scratched his palm with his fingers.
He frowned in confusion, looking at Bo Yanan.
But Bo Yanan simply pulled his hand back as if nothing had happened.
However, Song Jincheng was a carefree person and did not dwell on this little episode.
In the end, Song Jincheng led the way, with the others following behind him.
They safely left the laboratory, but encountered trouble when exiting the building.
Although there were few zombies inside the school, that did not mean there were none.
The laboratory had almost no zombies due to the lack of students.
However, perhaps because their group was large, the zombies seemed to have sensed the presence of humans, and soon a whole horde from a nearby teaching building appeared.
A few girls in the group nervously asked Song Jincheng what to do.
At that moment, Song Jincheng also felt a bit anxious.
Although this body was a zombie, what if these zombies couldn’t recognize him?
“Host, don’t worry. You carry the aura of the Zombie King. Once they get close, they won’t dare to come any further.”
Indeed, those zombies suddenly stopped when they were ten meters away.
They looked at Song Jincheng with confusion, and then their expressions changed to one of respect.
They barked at Song Jincheng and then scattered away.
The others, who had been cowering in the corner, quickly rushed to Song Jincheng’s side, watching the departing zombies.
“Why did they run away?”
A girl asked, perplexed, looking in the direction the zombies had gone.
“I don’t know, but maybe they were intimidated by how powerful we looked. They must have been awed by our king-like aura, hahaha.”
“Wang Peng, even now, you still have the mood to joke around.”
A short-haired girl shot a glare at the grinning Wang Peng.
Wang Peng scratched his head, “Isn’t it about finding happiness in adversity?”
As Song Jincheng listened to their bickering, he couldn’t help but think about what the zombies had just said.
He did carry the aura of the Zombie King, but that didn’t mean he was the Queen!
And did he really look so intimidating?
Even when they left, they specifically told him that if his supplies ran low, he must come find them, and they would help him catch more humans.
“Song Jincheng, what are you thinking about?”
Bo Yanan noticed that since the appearance of the zombies, Song Jincheng had fallen into a trance.
“Ah? Nothing, let’s hurry up and leave.”
Song Jincheng avoided Bo Yanan’s gaze.
His eyes were too intense; if it weren’t for the fact that they had just met, he might have thought the guy liked him.
Song Jincheng leisurely led the group toward the base.
“Host, the disguise has a time limit of 24 hours. Once the time is up, you will revert to your zombie identity and won’t be able to speak.”
“So you must keep track of the time and definitely don’t exceed it at the base!”
The assistant emphasized the seriousness of this matter, prompting Song Jincheng to quicken his pace.
However, the school was not close to the base.
Their group had no mode of transportation and relied solely on walking, so even at their fastest pace, they couldn’t cover much distance.
Song Jincheng kept an eye on the time, planning to send them to the entrance of the base before leaving.
But a turn of events happened just then.
After he sent the group to the entrance of the base and said goodbye, indicating he had other matters to attend to, the others, except for Bo Yanan, expressed understanding and wished him a safe journey.
As he watched them enter the base, he noticed Bo Yanan stepping out, not knowing when he had done so.
“I want to go with you.”
Bo Yanan got straight to the point and stated his intent.
Before Song Jincheng could respond, the little meatball in his arms fluffed up in alarm.
But evidently, a small cat fluffing up could not deter Bo Yanan’s determination.
The meatball didn’t know what was happening and jumped right out of Song Jincheng’s arms.
