Song Jinshi looked up and saw the zombie that had just mocked him. He had spent considerable effort climbing up, while it had already reached the top and was waiting to laugh at him. Angrily, Song Jinshi pushed it down and then climbed down the city wall himself, determined to prove that he was not weak by going to eat human flesh!
“Host, do you really want to eat human flesh?”
The system’s words snapped Song Jinshi back to reality. Indeed, even though he was currently a zombie, at his core, he was still human!
Realizing this, Song Jinshi halted. He couldn’t eat humans; why should he get angry because of that zombie? How infuriating!
He turned to find a place to hide, planning to wait until the zombie wave had passed before leaving with the main group. But as soon as he took a step, someone swept him off his feet and carried him away.
The person ran swiftly, and before long, they had moved away from the heart of the zombie horde to a house.
“Boss! You wanted a wife—no, you wanted a zombie!” the person gasped excitedly, addressing someone inside the house.
The person inside was momentarily surprised, as if they hadn’t expected him to bring back a zombie, let alone a living one.
“Where did you get this?”
The person glanced at Song Jinshi. After recognizing him, their eyes filled with intrigue.
The man carrying Song Jinshi seemed as excited as if he had discovered a new world. “Boss, you won’t believe it! I was just wandering by the city’s edge, thinking to see what was up with this zombie wave, and maybe bring back a live zombie for you to study.”
“But then I saw this zombie all alone, quarreling with another zombie. It seemed so upset that it ran off. I figured it was just one zombie, so I took it without hesitation.”
“However, I think this zombie might have some issues upstairs. Boss, that won’t hinder your research, right?”
At first, Song Jinshi was confused from being carried so fast. But as soon as he heard that, he snapped to attention.
What do you mean the zombie has issues?
His large eyes rolled around the room but didn’t detect any other zombies. But suddenly, he froze. Am I not a zombie myself? How could he say I have issues? Now, I’m really angry!
He opened his mouth, wanting to curse at the person who said he had problems.
But his little assistant interrupted him, “Host! You are a zombie! A zombie! You can’t speak human language!”
His anger turned into a scream as he bared his teeth and roared at the two men inside the house.
But the men clearly disregarded his fury. The one called “Boss” stepped closer, looking at Song Jinshi with keen interest.
He observed Song Jinshi’s slightly open mouth, leaned down, and raised an eyebrow. “Can your teeth really bite through human skin?”
He reached out and poked Song Jinshi’s mouth with two fingers, lightly scratching his teeth.
“Are you really a zombie?”
The man’s fingers continued to stir in Song Jinshi’s mouth. When they brushed against his tongue, the man’s gaze suddenly turned dark.
As he pinched Song Jinshi’s tongue between his fingers, gazing at the little zombie’s pitiful expression, an indescribable emotion began to swell in Pei Zhaoqing’s heart.
Song Jinshi didn’t notice the man’s turbulent thoughts.
He felt uncomfortable and wanted to bite him, but as a lone zombie, he knew he couldn’t fight against the two men in front of him, so he had to endure it.
Seeing the anger on Song Jinshi’s face, Pei Zhaoqing finally withdrew his hand. “So, Boss, should we keep this zombie? If not, I’ll just return him.”
Song Jinshi’s eyes lit up. “Roar!”
Yes! Quickly send me back!
But his hopes were ruthlessly shattered by Pei Zhaoqing. “Let’s keep him; even if he doesn’t help with research, he can serve as entertainment. Besides, he’s too dumb to bite anyone.”
“My little assistant! He insulted me! I can’t endure it any longer; I really want to bite him to death!”
Song Jinshi felt heavily insulted as the men continued to call him stupid and useless.
“Host, hang in there! Once we escape, we can find strong zombies to deal with them. You must not speak! Otherwise, if they discover you can talk, they’ll want to study you!”
“Think about it, Host: you’d be locked in a lab, tubes all over you, they’d be taking your blood daily, and you wouldn’t even get fed!”
Song Jinshi was scared by the little assistant’s words, though he still stubbornly refused to admit it.
“I just want to spare them; it’s definitely not out of fear!”
……
“Roar, roar, roar!”
Have you seen a particularly good-looking but weak little zombie?
The zombie that had been mocking Song Jinshi began searching through the horde when it noticed he was missing.
Every zombie he asked replied that they hadn’t seen him.
Feeling a bit angry, he roared once.
He was certain that he was captured by those humans. He was so foolish; there was no way he could outmatch them! I need to save him!
“Roar, roar, roar!”
Search every house to find him.
He commanded the group of zombies behind him.
Soon, a horde of zombies moved towards the center of the city.
It seemed that the people in this city had anticipated a wave of zombies because there were hardly any people left.
The group of zombies easily found the house where Pei Zhaoqing and the others were located.
When the door was crashed open by the zombies, one of them immediately spotted Song Jinshi, surrounded by two people inside the house.
