At this moment, Song Jinshi was hiding behind a pile of grass, his back against the haystack, curling up into a ball and pitifully hugging his legs.
“Assistant, I think I heard something.”
Song Jinshi whispered in his mind to the assistant.
Before the assistant could respond, he suddenly felt a cool, slimy touch.
“…Fish… Queen…”
A hoarse, terrifying voice echoed above his head.
The feeling of a fish tail brushing against his arm was particularly vivid.
Song Jinshi stiffly raised his head and looked up at the top of the haystack.
A fish monster, all green and oozing a viscous green liquid, was perched there.
Its tail dangled down, brushing against his soft, pale arm.
In an instant, Song Jinshi felt a shiver run down his spine, and goosebumps covered his entire body.
His body erupted with strength beyond instinct, and he ran desperately.
But before long, Song Jinshi found himself surrounded by fish monsters; he had nowhere to escape.
All the strength in his body suddenly faded, and he helplessly sank to the ground.
Tears streamed down uncontrollably.
Song Jinshi, terrified, closed his eyes, not wanting to face the impending scene of death.
After a long wait, he felt no pain as he had imagined.
Cautiously, Song Jinshi opened his eyes to find that the fish monsters had uniformly knelt before him, staring at him with their hands raised, looking ardently at him.
Song Jinshi stood up, wanting to escape this strange encirclement.
However, he noticed that their gaze followed him, and they seemed inclined to follow him wherever he went.
Thus, Song Jinshi had no choice but to stiffly stand still, locked in a stalemate with the fish monsters.
Eventually, the fish monster that had been sitting on the haystack came before Song Jinshi, extending its sharp and hideous hands towards him.
Song Jinshi didn’t understand what the fish monster meant, but seeing its claws made him instinctively shrink back in fear.
“Come… with… me…”
The fish monster struggled to spit out those three words.
Though terrified, Song Jinshi realized that these fish monsters wouldn’t kill him for now; it was just that if he didn’t comply with them, he couldn’t predict what might happen.
So, Song Jinshi followed the fish monster into the darkness.
He didn’t know how long they walked, but just as he felt he would collapse again, the leading fish monster finally stopped.
Song Jinshi lightly patted his aching legs to relieve the soreness.
“…Go… in…”
The fish monster pointed towards a house that seemed out of place in the environment.
Under the gaze of all the fish monsters, Song Jinshi stepped into the house.
The moment he entered, the door closed behind him, plunging the entire room into darkness.
Unable to see anything, Song Jinshi sat back against the door, appearing weak in the dark.
Drowsiness quickly overtook him, and he dozed off in that position.
When he woke again, the surroundings had changed dramatically.
The room was no longer dark; it was dimly lit enough for him to see, its decor and layout completely different from the room he had entered.
This new room was predominantly bright red, with large characters of “double happiness” pasted on the wall.
“Isn’t this the room I stayed in on the night of my wedding?”
Song Jinshi muttered, stunned.
“Darling, is this how you wait for me?”
“You couldn’t wait to meet your lover on our wedding night. How should I punish you?”
“I’ll punish you—by locking you in this room and only allowing you to see me from now on, is that okay?”
A familiar cold voice echoed in Song Jinshi’s ears.
He felt the frigid aura emanating from the man and shifted his body, wanting to distance himself.
But unexpectedly, he found he could barely move.
It was then that he saw the silver chain around his ankle.
Song Jinshi stared wide-eyed in disbelief, “You actually locked me up!”
His tone was heavy with accusation and dissatisfaction.
“Hmph.”
“Darling, you visited your lover on our wedding night. I let you off the hook by not making you get out of bed. And now you still blame me for locking you up?”
“Or do you mean—you want to choose the first option?”
Song Jinshi realized he was being unreasonable. However, he felt utterly aggrieved; none of this was from his own heart. All he wanted was to clear the level and return home.
Remembering this, Song Jinshi felt a sudden surge of grievance, and tears streamed down his face.
“You are all bad people, bullying me.”
“I was chased by those monsters; my feet hurt from running. You didn’t come to save me, and now you want to lock me up and scold me.”
The man was astonished that Song Jinshi had encountered those monsters.
“You saw the fish monsters?”
“Yeah.” Song Jinshi replied sulkily.
“They kept calling me Fish Queen and forced me into some strange house.”
The man suddenly grabbed Song Jinshi’s arms, “You went in?”
Song Jinshi winced at the man’s grip, not understanding why he reacted so strongly but obediently answered.
“I went in and then fell asleep. When I woke up, I was here.”
After speaking, he moved his arm slightly, realizing he couldn’t break free before he sadly said, “You’re hurting me.”
From the moment the man heard him say he went into the house, his mood had become slightly strange.
Eventually, it seemed like the man was jolted awake by his exclamation of pain and looked at Song Jinshi with an expression he couldn’t comprehend.
“What are you looking at?”
Song Jinshi said petulantly to the oddly behaving man.
The man suddenly chuckled softly and sighed.
“Darling, you won’t be able to withstand this.”
“I initially wanted to monopolize you, but since you’ve already gone in and completed the sacrificial ritual, you can only accept both of us now.”
