They exchanged glances, and the plump chef quickly ducked his head, blending into the crowd. Lin Ya cast a fleeting glance at him but didn’t pay him any mind.
He fiddled with the only life-saving talisman he had managed to retrieve, his brow furrowing as he contemplated the difficulty of finding Shira among so many people. However, she should have restored her original appearance by now.
That meant he just needed to search for a woman with chestnut hair.
First, he would go look for Leiguang. Since they agreed to help him pass the level, he needed to inform Leiguang about the story line so he could submit it himself, and then Lin Ya would take care of Shira’s absolution, allowing them to exit this instance.
Lin Ya headed towards their original corner, jostled somewhat by the NPCs along the way, his expression darkening for the rare occasion. Even if they were NPCs, stepping on people’s feet was quite painful.
Sure enough, Leiguang and the others were waiting in the corner.
Lin Ya glanced at the other two, “You come with me.”
Leiguang’s eyes brightened, suppressing his inner excitement as he obediently followed Lin Ya. To be honest, it was slightly disturbing for a middle-aged man in his thirties or forties to exhibit such behavior.
“What do you think they’re talking about?” Wu Yun gazed at Lin Ya’s calm and handsome face, and Leiguang, who seemed genuinely happy even from behind, with a hint of envy and regret.
If only they had sought him out for an alliance first.
Su Ziyi narrowed his eyes but said nothing.
He didn’t know if they had really found the key to clearing the level.
Before Lin Ya could finish, the whole banquet hall was suddenly engulfed in darkness. He knew this was Shira’s doing; the ball had not yet ended, and even she could not leave.
He must find her today.
Darkness meant little to her. It was the same for him.
Lin Ya could see just as clearly at night as he could during the day.
The only problem was that there were indeed more NPCs here than usual.
He motioned for Leiguang to stay aside. Lin Ya looked up at the ceiling, where several ornate chandeliers hung, dazzling and relatively sturdy.
He kicked off from the wall, took two light steps, and clung to the edge of the chandelier. Using some skill, he flipped and crouched on top of it, the chandelier swaying slightly, almost unnoticed by anyone.
Except for Shira.
Lin Ya quickly found her near the candelabra, his wrist trembling as he conjured two dinner knives that swiftly flew towards her position. At the same time, he leaped slightly, stepping on an NPC’s head as he rushed towards Shira.
Shira’s resentful gaze landed on him, evading the attack of the two knives.
A white candle appeared in her hand, burning with a ghostly blue flame. As she tipped it over, the entire banquet hall was suddenly engulfed in flames.
“What the hell! Again?!”
“Ouch… so hot!” Wu Yun covered her burnt right hand, biting her lip. She had only one life-saving item left, and using it would mean it was gone.
“The NPCs are also being burned!” Unlike before, this time the flames seemed to be real and capable of harming their current bodies; all the NPCs instinctively showed fear, staring at the spreading blue flames.
Lin Ya couldn’t help but shift his gaze, his heart sinking. The NPC’s identification tags were no longer effective; it seemed she intended to burn them all alive here.
He had to finish this quickly.
No longer caring about anything else, he immediately grabbed at Shira, who was trying to escape, pulling out the talisman paper with his left hand, and as the fire spread to his feet, he drove the talisman onto her forehead directly.
“Ah!!!!” Shira let out a piercing scream, her entire face and body transforming back to her appearance before death.
At the same moment, a clear and crisp ringing of a bell echoed.
It was eight o’clock.
The doors of the banquet hall swung open instantly, the flames disappearing without a trace. All the NPCs flooded out like fleeing refugees, their expressions a mix of panic and relief.
Leiguang, holding onto his last life-saving item, sighed with relief and collapsed onto the sofa, only to fall onto the ash and charcoal-strewn floor.
The luxurious, soft sofa had vanished, and the splendid banquet hall was now pitch black, leaving behind only a pile of burnt debris.
Light filtered in through the cracked and broken doors and windows, vaguely illuminating the space.
Facing Lin Ya was Shira, radiating heavy resentment, as she looked stubbornly at the doorway, her figure gradually fading.
With a sigh as light as a feather, she murmured, “I didn’t get to see her…”
Bella, my beloved sister.
Lin Ya believed about 80% of what Shira said. If she truly hated her sister that much, why did she draw so many pictures of Bella in her room?
Also…
The language of lavender flowers is—waiting for hopeless love.
Perhaps Bella’s inheritance was real, and Shira’s desire to become Bella was as well.
But whether she truly wanted to burn her closest sister since childhood to death…
That was open to interpretation.
The instance “Lies,” truly lived up to its name.
“We cleared it?!!” Leiguang’s face flushed with excitement as he hurriedly pulled out the items Su Ziyi and Wu Yun had given him, handing them to Lin Ya, who showed little interest; these items held little significance for him.
He was too lazy to accept them.
Leiguang could only tuck them away himself, grinning widely as he faced the complicated gazes from Su Ziyi and Wu Yun, feeling quite pleased with himself.
Thanks to his keen eyes, boldness, and willingness to gamble, the sacrifices paid off with great rewards.
Soon, the other three vanished from sight.
And Lin Ya heard the survival system broadcasting its voice.
