Aside from watching the auburn-haired girl rolling on the ground and laughing with great delight, her gaze drifted slightly past Lin Ya, her eyes growing darker.
Seated in the corner of the sofa, Lin Ya looked at the tags in his hands representing Number 1 and Number 66, smiling faintly without paying attention to the screams coming from afar, placing them down safely.
What he had suspected had already been half-verified, and now all he could do was wait.
Having obtained the number tag representing the male lead, he had also gained an NPC identity. If nothing unexpected occurred, it seemed that a killing intent was soon to descend upon them.
The greatest source of danger in this instance stemmed from the ball; it would last for seven days, and the big fire on the first day would be reenacted on the last day. If he guessed correctly, on the seventh day, if they couldn’t escape, they would all perish in the reenactment of the raging inferno.
On the first day of the instance, the woman who appeared at the ball was the key.
The line between reality and lies had become increasingly apparent.
The stories in these two books were completely opposite.
The film was adapted from the book titled “Lies,” and its content was almost identical to the book. However, what was contained in “Reality” was entirely different; it narrated a story about two noble sisters who fell in love with a man, leading to conflict between the siblings.
The elder sister, Bella, and the younger sister, Sheila, were identical twins. Bella fell in love with a handsome but poor boy, and they eventually succeeded in being together. Bella often brought Sheila along on their dates, and the three of them became acquainted, frequently spending time together. However, under Sheila’s intentional seduction, the boy gradually fell for Sheila.
One day, the three of them attended a ball together, but the boy invited Sheila to dance, which made Bella extraordinarily jealous. After drinking too much, watching the two embrace while dancing ignited her fury, and in her attempt to separate them, she accidentally knocked over the candlestick and wine bottles, causing everyone present to be burned to death.
Only Bella managed to escape the calamity.
She survived, but her body was burned and disfigured.
Lin Ya suspected that the woman who appeared yesterday could very well be Bella, or more accurately, her impersonator.
For now, he could only wait and see.
As usual, a few of them took some pastries back with them.
Ray Guang trailed behind Lin Ya, looking at his back with complex and entangled emotions. After much hesitation, he decided to collaborate with him.
He believed that this person was truly exceptional; not only was he calm and meticulous, but he was also daring and willing to act. If they managed to survive and successfully clear the instance, he might genuinely want to pull him into his own team, if Lin Ya was willing.
“Do you want to cooperate with me to clear the instance?” Lin Ya asked in surprise, as he had thought these people would band together. Although Ray Guang had approached him before, his attitude last night hadn’t been as humble and sincere as it was now.
Ray Guang nodded heavily. He had used up his items, which could only withstand two more attacks. The elevator, which had seemed uneventful in the morning, had already consumed one of those uses. It was still the second day; if it continued like this, he would not even survive until the fifth day.
Conversely, Lin Ya had nothing but a watch; he seemed to have no items on him.
Generally, besides a few rare weapons, most items were for self-preservation. For example, Su Ziyi’s crystal necklace, Wu Yun’s necklace, and his wooden bead bracelet.
However, Lin Ya appeared to have no items, yet he managed to survive until this moment, proving that he certainly possessed genuine skills.
Ray Guang could only think of ways to cling tightly to this uncertain big leg, reasoning that even if he exhausted his items, he would still ultimately perish.
He might as well take a gamble.
If he really was like Su Ziyi said, wanting to clear early, succeeding would mean a huge gain for him.
He could boast about it after leaving, as people who could clear early were truly rare. More importantly, he had heard that those who cleared early received special rewards.
If he were to obtain a special reward, that wouldn’t just be a profit; it would be a windfall.
In light of all this, he decided to ally with Lin Ya and revealed a piece of information that Lin Ya wasn’t aware of.
This morning, when he visited the reading room, he had seen a book about the hotel’s origins.
“This hotel was supposedly built on the site of a noble estate, and the estate’s most famous feature was a pair of exceptionally beautiful twin sisters.”
Ray Guang handed him a photograph: “I’m not sure if this is useful for clearing the instance, but based on my years of reading novels and experiencing other instances, it might contain some secrets.”
Lin Ya took the photo, his gaze sharpening.
The photo was in color, depicting two girls who looked strikingly similar, one with golden hair and the other with chestnut. They stood amid a sea of roses in elegant dresses, smiling sweetly at the camera.
A white sleeve peeked out from the corner of the photo, clearly belonging to the photographer.
They were Bella and Sheila.
And that male lead who was clearly involved with both in the two books.
“That woman who danced with you at the ball… she looks a lot like this person in the photo. Did you… discover something?” Ray Guang asked tentatively, genuinely curious as to why Lin Ya had danced with that woman.
Since Ray Guang had allied with him and even provided some clues, Lin Ya didn’t hold back, sharing all the insights he had gathered since the items he obtained in this world wouldn’t have much use anyway.
“What?!” Ray Guang’s brows furrowed tightly. The last day would reenact the fire; if his items ran out, there would be no escaping.
Moreover, most items could only withstand one attack. If a real fire broke out, even if they had items, if they couldn’t escape, they would still end up being burned alive once their items ran out.
They would only buy a few more minutes of life.
Thinking of this, Ray Guang couldn’t help but feel relieved, shifting his gaze to Lin Ya with admiration. How had this person managed to uncover so many clues?
“If you want to survive the ball in the coming days, you need to exchange for a different tag first.”
“A tag? What tag?” Ray Guang, not being dull, quickly realized. He opened his mouth: “Are you referring to the number tag for the ball?”
