The woman who appeared at the ball caught his attention greatly. Her aura was not that of a ghost, but rather that of a human.
Was she wearing a facade of humanity, or was she truly human?
Moreover, Lin Ya walked back to the painting, feeling that this woman bore a resemblance to the one at the ball yesterday.
Just like in the morning, he spent money on lunch, then continued to nest in his room reading. He held the book “Lies” in his hands, while another book titled “Truth” lay beside him, which he had already finished.
It wasn’t until the banquet hall opened again in the afternoon that he closed the book, donned the same clothes as yesterday, and walked down the stairs as usual.
This time, however, he did not encounter any ominous barriers.
Once again in the banquet hall, Lin Ya took a number tag and found a corner seat to sit down. The ambiance of today’s banquet hall was different from yesterday’s.
Yesterday, roses adorned the tables, while today, daffodils were placed instead.
Daffodils symbolize beauty and purity, and convey meanings of hope and rebirth.
“Qin La! Come here!” A beautiful girl in a western dress was pulling along another girl with a pure appearance. They whispered to each other, occasionally breaking into smiles.
Su Ziyi glanced at Lin Ya, noticing his focus on the two girls, and asked in confusion, “Wu Yun, did you see those two NPCs yesterday?”
Wu Yun followed his gaze, pondering for a moment before shaking her head, “I didn’t pay attention, but I did see that man.”
She pointed to a man with golden hair seated on a nearby sofa, holding a champagne glass while staring at the girls.
“I didn’t notice…” Su Ziyi replied, realizing he had no memory of that and could only shake his head in resignation.
Hopefully, there were no changes with the NPCs; any alterations would signify danger.
Lin Ya took a sip from a drink.
“Qin La…” That was the name of the female lead in the movie “Lies.”
But he didn’t recall seeing them yesterday; his gaze fell back on the vase of flowers on the table.
After a slight pause, he suddenly understood.
“So that’s how it is…” If memory served, there were six occasions in the movie that featured a banquet.
“Lies” was actually the script for that movie, so it made sense that he remembered how the male and female leads encountered each other at the banquet.
So…
Was this the scene of their first meeting?
“Hey! Ladies, please hold onto your number tags; tonight, they will determine which fated partner you will dance with—” The lights on stage flashed, and the once-smooth waltz grew more intense. In the darkness, men and women exchanged number tags.
The lights brightened.
According to the number tags, everyone found their dance partners. Qin La, with her chestnut hair, found the golden-haired man. They embraced, both blushing as they stood in the dance floor.
One beautiful, one handsome—they seemed like a perfect match.
Lin Ya stood up, resembling an irate father determined to split them apart, and quickly intervened, separating the two with remarkable speed.
“What is he doing?!”
Chapter 48: Infinite Flow Survival (Part Four)
Lin Ya remained calm in the face of the golden-haired man, whose expression darkened noticeably. He extended his hand toward the chestnut-haired girl and revealed his number tag. “Sorry, madam, but the number you have is mine.”
Upon hearing this, the man’s expression shifted slightly. He quickly reached for his number tag, only to find that the number had mysteriously changed to—
A red background with black text, number 66.
“You—!” His elegant demeanor shattered, he glared fiercely at Lin Ya, gripping the number tag tightly in his hand.
Lin Ya tucked away the black background with red text number tag, a hint of amusement in his eyes. He turned toward the somewhat bewildered girl, extending his hand.
“Beautiful lady, may I have this dance?”
“Of course…” The girl glanced at the golden-haired man beside her, her black pupils deepening for a moment as she sweetly smiled and placed her hand in Lin Ya’s palm.
They began to dance together.
…
“What is he doing?!”
The other three watched in astonishment as the guy rushed over to separate the NPCs, stealing one of their partners. They gazed, wide-eyed, as he placed his hand on the waist of the female NPC.
Suddenly, the other two were speechless, but Lei Guang frowned slightly as he looked at the woman. She seemed somewhat familiar to him.
“Is he… insane? Instead of keeping his distance, he approaches them, isn’t he afraid of triggering the rules?”
“…I don’t understand.” Su Ziyi shook his head, furrowing his brow in thought for a while before suddenly remembering something.
“Could it be… he wants to find clues to clear the game early?”
In the infinite survival instance, players had two ways to survive until the end: avoid the rules of death or deduce the entire story of the instance and appease the boss’s wrath based on the clues they gathered. If successful, they could not only clear the instance early but also permanently shut it down.
However, that was exceedingly difficult.
Only a few could achieve it, as the timeframe for survival tasks in the instance was short. Most people preferred to survive rather than risk triggering the death rules.
So far, only the top ranks on the leaderboard had managed this because they were not ordinary individuals in reality.
Besides the criminal police, there was also a writer who specialized in criminal investigation who could accomplish this; for the rest, simply surviving in a regular instance was already quite challenging.
After their dance, Lin Ya strolled over to the golden-haired man who eyed him with growing malice, holding a glass of wine. As he passed by, he accidentally spilled the drink on him, soaking his black suit.
“Sorry, please forgive my clumsiness.”
He sincerely apologized, his eyes gleaming with mirth as he looked at the man while subtly hiding a small object in his sleeve alongside a dining knife.
As he breezed past the golden-haired man, who glared with increasing murderous intent, flames suddenly erupted around him, engulfing him in an instant. His terrified screams pierced the air, yet the surrounding NPCs acted as if they were oblivious, seemingly unable to see what was happening.
