Except for Luo Chu, Luo Yuan, Shi Hua, and Bai Yu Xi, no one else raised their hands. They probably thought that since someone was going out, they didn’t need to take risks themselves.
It’s human nature.
Lin Ya glanced at He Yu, who was gritting his teeth with a conflicted expression, the listless Wen Wen Xu, and the retching Lü Ci, who was covering his mouth.
“Since you raised your hands, just follow behind me. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.” Observing their nervous expressions, Lin Ya decided not to tell them to bring knives, lest they accidentally hurt a teammate.
“Don’t we need to bring a flashlight?” Luo Chu asked, realizing that the flashlight was left in the audio-visual room while they held hands and followed Lin Ya.
“My eyes can see a bit in the dark, and having a flashlight makes it easier for others to notice us,” Lin Ya explained as he walked at the front.
The others were not very convinced but had no other choice. However, seeing the calm demeanor of the person in front instilled a little faith.
They passed through the deck and quietly arrived at the cabin corridor.
Others couldn’t see it, but Lin Ya could see clearly; the floor was covered in bloodstains, and bodies lay sprawled on the ground, some facing sideways and others collapsed at the door, a strong smell of blood assaulting their senses.
“Follow me. We need to avoid some obstacles,” he whispered softly.
The others nodded silently but thought that because it was so dark, perhaps the others wouldn’t see, and they held back their words for fear of being overheard.
Carefully maneuvering around the obstacles on the ground, the others quickly understood what those so-called ‘obstacles’ were from the overwhelming stench of blood.
Bai Yu Xi accidentally kicked one of the ‘obstacles,’ stifling a gasp as her heart raced, following Luo Chu. Even though her hair stood on end and her palms were damp with cold sweat, her pace remained steady.
Behind her was Luo Yuan, followed by Shi Hua.
Led by Lin Ya, they navigated through the dining room and finally reached the kitchen. Unfortunately, the kitchen was a chaotic mess, clearly having been rummaged through by several people before them.
Lin Ya noticed a cupboard nearby where dishes were stored. He motioned for the others to wait while he pretended to search for a while, and at that moment, he placed unwrapped baguettes and compressed biscuits inside the cupboard.
As for water, he had already sent someone to collect rainwater earlier.
“I found it! There’s a box of bread and biscuits here; it should last us for a few days.”
“Come help me,” he said in a low voice, pretending to be excited, causing a sense of relief and joy to spread across the faces of the others.
Lin Ya had only brought them along as laborers; since these items weren’t particularly heavy, they loaded them into their backpacks.
“What luck! Even though we can’t see, we can tell there’s no place to step in here, and it’s clear others have searched already, yet we still found something, how fortunate!” Bai Yu Xi exclaimed, patting the bulging backpack, feeling that their trip had indeed been worthwhile; otherwise, they would have gone hungry.
Luo Chu quietly agreed, “It’s a good thing we came out; otherwise, if others found these, we wouldn’t have been able to get any, and even if we weren’t killed, hunger might get us.”
“Brother, stop talking and let’s go; we’re making noise. If someone comes, it’ll be trouble.” Luo Yuan, who was on guard outside, urged them as they finished packing.
“He’s right, Brother Shen, let’s move,” Shi Hua said, shouldering his backpack and fumbling to reach for Luo Yuan’s hand to regroup.
However, unexpectedly, his fingers brushed against something cold and slightly sticky, and he paused in shock.
[Ahhh! That’s not a teammate! Let go! Run!]
[Run now!!]
Although he couldn’t see, the viewers in the live stream could see everything clearly; the figure in front of him was not Luo Yuan but a killer wielding a knife.
The strong stench began to spread, and before Shi Hua could react, a gust of wind blew by him as someone grabbed him and pulled him backward, causing him to fall to the ground.
There was a loud “bang,” followed by the muffled groan of a man and indistinct chaotic foreign language.
Luo Yuan hadn’t reacted yet, but upon hearing the sound, he instinctively took a few steps forward, only to be pulled back by Lin Ya.
“Stay inside and don’t come out!”
“Be careful! Someone was next to me earlier, and I grazed a knife.” Shi Hua scrambled to get back up. It wasn’t until his fingers felt a sharp pain that he realized how close he had come to danger; if Lin Ya hadn’t pulled him, that knife might have landed on him.
“Are you okay?!” Bai Yu Xi quickly supported him, her eyes wide with confusion as she looked toward the source of the noise, nervously swallowing, “Brother Shen, be careful!”
Meanwhile, Luo Chu hurried to locate Luo Yuan, and they huddled together, filled with anxiety. They understood that if Lin Ya was taken out, the rest of them, unable to see, would surely be doomed against knife-wielding thugs. Thus, they began searching the area for anything that could serve as a defensive weapon.
“Don’t move; I won’t be in danger.” Lin Ya swiftly kicked at the weapon in the assailant’s hand, raising his arm to block a punch.
Wow, this guy’s strong.
“How many people like you are on this ship?” He switched to speaking in foreign language, attempting to communicate with the assailant, but the man refused to respond, so Lin Ya didn’t hold back and landed a punch on the man’s nose, then thrust his leg upward, successfully making the opponent howl in pain.
“Damn it! F**k!”
Under the watchful eyes of many, Lin Ya stepped on the kneeling assailant’s calf, and with a crack, the man screamed out in agony, swearing even more fiercely, rendering his right hand useless.
Even if he wasn’t killed, he wouldn’t survive.
Others on the ship would take care of him.
