Now he realizes that he had settled down too soon.
“What about the others on the ship? Do you know how they got on board?”
“We didn’t ask that, so we’re not quite sure…” The young man shook his head, hurriedly adding, “They stayed on the same floor as us; let’s go ask them now!”
“We’re in room 439, so feel free to come find me later. We’re all fellow travelers; it’s better to let each other know what’s going on in a situation like this. I appreciate it.”
Once back in his room, He Yu left the door open and sat on the sofa in a daze. He hoped the others would find the director and prove they weren’t deceived, while also hoping that the others’ phones had signal. Suddenly, he sat up, his eyes brightening.
“Right! Let’s find the crew and the captain and tell them what’s happening. Maybe they have equipment that can contact the mainland!”
“The others might not have thought of that. If you want to go, then go ahead; I’ll wait here for the others to return,” Lin Ya said, not pouring cold water on his enthusiasm. It was still relatively safe now, but who knew about tomorrow or lunchtime?
Watching He Yu rush out, Lin Ya shook his head. However, he didn’t remain idle in the room; he studied the blueprints he had in hand. In the past two days, he had almost explored the entire ship, except for a few places: the captain’s quarters, the staff lounge, the cargo hold, and the kitchen. The special items the director mentioned were various weapons hidden in different locations on the ship, with the most special being the only gun and ammunition.
Though he couldn’t utilize much strength at this stage, when the remaining numbers dwindled, it could be a lethal weapon. While he could ignore the other various weapons, firearms were different. With limited manpower, he needed to secure the deepest hidden weapon first.
Lin Ya rolled up the blueprints, having memorized all the locations.
“Shen Ge? Why are you alone?” Wen Wenxu knocked lightly on the door. Lin Ya looked up to see a panicked expression on his face; he had clearly discovered something.
“The others haven’t returned yet. He Yu went to find them. Why are you alone too? Where’s Lu Ci?”
Wen Wenxu came in and sat down, his usually fair cheeks now even paler. He trembled as he spoke, “Lu Ci felt dizzy when he saw the sea outside, so I sent him back to the room. When I went to look for others, I suddenly heard… I heard someone say the captain is missing…”
“And also, there’s no sign of the crew on the ship…”
“Later…” His voice trembled with fear and choked sobs, “Later I thought I’d check the kitchen, but then I heard those chefs say that the original head chef is missing, and they just found out that there’s no food left on the ship; the food this morning was prepared by the previous chef…”
“What should we do?!” Wen Wenxu didn’t expect that participating in a variety show would lead to such a situation.
Even a fool would now realize that they had been deceived.
“Calm down,” Lin Ya sighed, observing the redness around his eyes.
“When the others arrive, I have something to share too.”
No matter what, he would do his best to protect these fellow travelers.
Meanwhile, He Yu had just caught up with Bai Yuxi and Shi Hua on the deck, and the three of them took action together. They walked along until they realized that they hadn’t seen a single crew member the whole way. So they began searching together.
They didn’t know where the captain’s quarters were; the ship was simply too large. However, it was true that the crew members, who were usually visible, had vanished.
After searching for nearly an hour without results, they found that the other tourists were blissfully unaware, wandering around sightseeing.
Although they tried to ask others, the foreign tourists thought they were strange and questioned their sanity.
Thus, the three decided to check on the others first, but then Shi Hua suddenly remembered that their room seemed to have a ship’s map?
By the time everyone returned, Wen Wenxu had calmed down.
At the same time, that couple arrived with a group of people looking for them.
Lin Ya looked at the crowd and rubbed his forehead; this small room was truly overcrowded.
“Let’s go to the dining room; it’s more spacious there.”
In the dining room, the clock’s hour hand pointed directly at 12, ringing out several times.
The area once filled with plates was now empty, devoid of anything but water.
“Lunch time has arrived; why hasn’t the food been served?”
“Oh, heavens! You must give us a reasonable explanation.”
“What?!”
Seeing the hurried expressions of the waitstaff in the dining room, many people, hungry and growing impatient, began to raise a commotion. The waitstaff could only explain the situation honestly.
Upon hearing that the captain and other crew members were missing and that there wasn’t enough food left on the ship to feed everyone, the news caused an uproar among those present, including those who had just arrived with Lin Ya.
“What about the ship?! Without anyone at the helm, how are we supposed to return?!”
“Exactly! And we can’t contact anyone on land for rescue!”
“We won’t starve to death, will we?! What is going on?!”
“No food? Can we catch fish?” Some people felt relatively okay about the food situation, reasoning that, as long as they had fishing tools, they wouldn’t starve at sea; besides, some people had food in their luggage, though not much.
“If there are tools on the ship, we might be able to.”
“Now isn’t the time to talk about that! Even if we won’t starve, what if something happens to the ship? Didn’t they say the captain and crew have run off?”
Lin Ya glanced at the clock and thought it should be about time. He opened the ship’s live-streaming equipment directly.
The invisible live-streaming device floated in the air, unseen by anyone. Due to the crowd in the dining room, he placed only two of them, and the screens suspended in the air displayed the entire scene of the dining room.
