“No… call me… Ice Cream!!!”
“What did you say?!” Lin Wei’s pupils constricted in shock as he recognized the familiar words coming from Ho Qijun’s mouth.
Ho Qijun woke up completely after muttering the dream phrase, and upon opening his eyes, he saw Lin Wei’s astonished expression.
The two locked eyes, and Lin Wei was still holding his hand, forgetting to let go.
Ho Qijun ran away, not forgetting to take Yu Yu with him. It wasn’t until just before boarding the plane that he sent Lin Wei a text saying he was going on a business trip. After sending it, he immediately turned on Do Not Disturb mode and hid the chat, then activated flight mode, performing the entire sequence of actions in one smooth motion.
Once he settled onto the plane, just as he was leaving the city that carried Lin Wei’s scent, he finally had the courage to reflect on everything that had happened the previous night.
All the folly could certainly be attributed to… he must have drunk too much!!!
At first, he woke up from a light sleep after about ten minutes and found Lin Wei gripping his hand tightly. His heart leaped at that moment, and a whirlwind of shocked, hesitant, delighted, and angry emotions flashed through his mind in an instant…
Of course, he didn’t immediately pull his hand away; only his fingers reflexively curled slightly in Lin Wei’s palm, and he was uncertain how to react thereafter.
Fortunately, Lin Wei quickly returned to his senses and no longer clung to him, but before he could even relax and sit up, he heard the other person’s enigmatic voice: “Ice Cream?”
“…..” Ho Qijun almost choked on his breath. At least he knew that those three words didn’t serve as proof that he had been dreaming that kind of silly dream, so he merely maintained a stiff expression and responded with one syllable: “Hmm?”
If Lin Wei only heard those three words from his sleep talk, he might not have thought much of it. However, some previously lingering memories, which had left traces of doubt, were suddenly intertwined as soon as Ho Qijun had uttered that dream phrase, as if there had been a premonition.
He always felt that Ho Qijun was like a cat. Perhaps it wasn’t that he actually had feline tendencies, but rather, the reason why Ho Qijun felt familiar was because of a cat. It wasn’t that he resembled a cat, but sometimes his temperament reminded Lin Wei of ice cream.
Moreover, during their last supermarket visit, Ho Qijun had casually complained that some ice cream and canned goods weren’t tasty at all. Given that he had never owned a cat and had never eaten any by mistake, his instinctual reminder seemed rather baseless, didn’t it?
Lin Wei found it strange at the time, simply considering it an inconsequential detail, and didn’t think much of it. But connecting this to the earlier dream talk…
He didn’t believe in coincidences; he trusted his instincts more.
[Can you help me check if there’s any connection between him and ice cream?] Since it wasn’t part of the mission, Lin Wei didn’t directly give the system an instruction.
However, the system had a strong emotional connection to ice cream. Without needing a reminder, it was already researching: [Investigating, but the analysis is expected to take a few days.]
[No problem, take your time.]
[Master, if he really is…] The system was a bit unsure how they should regard Ho Qijun.
Lin Wei chuckled, [Isn’t that great? The little cat has grown up.]
[Oh? That’s true!] The system was persuaded, albeit a bit confused. Even though the little cat had transformed into a tall and handsome CEO, the ice cream remained, which was certainly something to be happy about.
“Nothing much.” With a way to confirm, Lin Wei didn’t feel the need to pry further from Ho Qijun’s lips. Seeing his reluctant demeanor, he decided not to ask and simply said, “Get up and drink the hangover soup first.”
“Oh.” Ho Qijun didn’t expect him to give up on the inquiry so quickly. Still a little dazed, he subconsciously obeyed and sat up.
Lin Wei thought he could remain composed until he got a definitive answer. However, once he felt an eighty percent certainty that the person before him was indeed his cat, his mindset shifted dramatically, and he couldn’t help but reach out and pat Ho Qijun’s head gently.
The system was stunned by this unexpected action. To be honest, it felt less like petting a cat and more like stimulating a tiger’s mane, which left the system both amazed and terrified.
When Ho Qijun sensed the touch on his head, the hand that was about to lift the bowl froze immediately, as if he had hit a pause button. After a long moment, he regained his composure and quickly brought the hangover soup to his mouth, taking a sip.
He didn’t dare to ask Lin Wei why he suddenly touched his head, just like he had refrained from asking why Lin Wei had held his hand earlier.
Yet, he accepted this gradual invasion of personal space, while Lin Wei showed no awareness of the unspoken understanding. After patting him, he continued to comment, “Too much hair gel; it doesn’t feel great.”
He thought he was petting a humanoid cat, but it turned out that the young master’s hairstyle was so sturdy that even a typhoon couldn’t mess it up.
His disappointment was palpable.
Ho Qijun shot him an annoyed glance.
Seeing this, Lin Wei chuckled lightly and added, “It’ll be fine after a wash; it’s all the hair gel’s fault.”
“…” Ho Qijun felt at a loss for words. Did Lin Wei expect him to wash his hair and come back for Lin Wei to test the feel again?!
“By the way, you should wash up here before heading back. I’m worried you might have a surprise if the alcohol hasn’t worn off.” Lin Wei paid no attention to what he was grumbling about internally, threw out this line, and took the empty bowl from Ho Qijun’s hand to head to the kitchen.
After two seconds of processing, Ho Qijun covered his head while standing up. He went home to grab a change of clothes and finally made his way to the first-floor bathroom.
Lin Wei had finished cleaning up the kitchen when he heard some movement coming from the bathroom. He deliberately pulled up a chair at the door to wait, in case something happened inside and he couldn’t help right away.
He even kindly knocked on the door, informing Ho Qijun that he was waiting outside and to call him if needed.
This made Ho Qijun, who was in the middle of taking off his clothes, suddenly feel awkward.
There was only a frosted glass barrier between the bathroom and the outside, and when he was unaware of Lin Wei’s intentions, he could have acted comfortably. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case at that moment!
Leaning against the back wall of the bathroom, he took a few deep breaths to regain his composure before he slowly continued his movements…
Unaware of the turmoil inside, Lin Wei waited while scrolling on his phone. After nearly an hour passed, the sounds from the bathroom stopped completely, and he looked up.
Ho Qijun seemed to be fine, without any injuries or dizziness. He was in his pajamas, his hair just styled into a smooth finish, with strands falling across his forehead, significantly softening his sharp demeanor.
