“No problem,” Ko added, “Can I join your call? I can teach you how to play; I’m a professional player and very good at games.”
Yan Chuan accepted his invitation to join the call.
He wasn’t great at games, often just button-mashing, but since Ko was his benefactor, he had no reason to refuse his request.
“Hello,” Ko’s unexpectedly bright voice came through the speakers. “Shall we start now?”
Yan Chuan nodded enthusiastically.
“Where should I go now?” he asked, “To that hut ahead?”
“Yes, move forward,” Ko instructed. “Pick up some weapons for self-defense and grab a smoke grenade.”
Yan Chuan followed his instructions.
He controlled his character to search the hut for supplies, encountering an NPC along the way, which he quickly dealt with after firing a few shots.
Ko directed him again: “Head towards K City; there are plenty of weapons there. Pick up a vehicle on the way but be careful of ambushes on the hill.”
Yan Chuan replied, “Sure.”
Focusing on the game, he found it a bit hard to keep up with the comments on the screen while still talking with Ko.
As a result, he missed some of the comments that were flying by.
“I can’t believe this! He’s using a secondary account to deceive his wife!”
“I’m dying of laughter. His main account got blocked by his wife, and now he pretends to be a passerby to help her play and gain her favor.”
“Ko, where’s your dignity? The platform requires you to connect with others for a live stream, but here you are, stumbling over to help your wife!”
“Such a simp… using a voice changer too…”
Under Ko’s guidance, Yan Chuan successfully collected a lot of supplies and avoided ambushes thanks to Ko’s reminders, managing to survive until near the end of the game.
Unfortunately, when it came time to shrink the safe zone, Yan Chuan ran out of healing items and couldn’t find any even after searching half a building. He ultimately fell just before victory.
Despite the loss, Yan Chuan was still extremely happy, even wondering if he had some talent for gaming.
He thanked his benefactor, hearing Ko reply, “No need to thank me; it’s because you’re clever.”
Ko seized the moment, “Can I get your contact info? Can we play games together in the future?”
Yan Chuan answered, “Sure.”
He might not be a pro, but Ko seemed to be really good at games, and partnering with him might boost the view count for their streams.
The comments were also suggesting he find a skilled player like Ko to help him rank up.
However, Yan Chuan didn’t care much about ranking; the viewership skyrocketed when he connected with Ko, almost pushing him to the top of the newcomer charts.
Yan Chuan thought this strategy was quite excellent.
He privately added Ko’s contact information, labeling it as Benefactor No. 2.
No. 1 was Evan, whom he met during the day.
His social media account was open, but it had nothing on it. Yan Chuan decided to post some of his photos tomorrow.
After all, he listed Ko as his benefactor, and he should show him some perks.
Thinking of this, Yan Chuan glanced at his profile and noticed that his followers had surpassed ten thousand.
He now had nearly thirty thousand, which was impressive for a small streamer who had only gone live for a day.
Yan Chuan felt very satisfied, but it reminded him of the streams he had observed earlier, and he planned to leave a little suspense.
He opened his microphone, speaking softly to the viewers, “Today’s stream is ending, everyone go to bed early.”
The comments began to pour in with gifts; although it wasn’t as ludicrous as the first-place gifts, they totaled nearly two thousand.
“Aww, I can’t see my wife; I’m not going to sleep tonight.”
“Baby, go to bed! You poor thing has work tomorrow.”
“Darling, you’re making big money! You won’t have to deal with the stresses of work anymore!”
However, just before the stream ended, Yan Chuan stood up and twirled his skirt in front of the camera.
The hem of his sailor-style short skirt was just above his knees, and his long, slim legs seemed to glow under the lights, with a hint of pink on his knees.
His waist was also very slim, delicate, and slender. Due to his position, his short top rode up, revealing a patch of fair skin.
There was no one in front of him, yet many viewers were watching him from behind their screens.
The realization made him feel a bit shy, but facing the dark camera was easier than confronting real faces.
“This skirt comes with matching stockings,” Yan Chuan said. “Let’s make a wish. If we reach fifty thousand followers before tomorrow night’s stream, I’ll also wear the stockings for everyone.”
His voice was slightly quiet, but the microphone captured his words clearly for the audience.
After a moment of silence, the comments erupted.
“White stockings or black stockings? Or perhaps my drool stockings?”
“Wow! You’re so good at attracting attention, wife!”
“I can’t handle it! I’ve been hooked by the spicy wife!”
“Let’s call our friends and boost the stream to one hundred thousand followers!”
“What a white outfit and such a delicate skirt! I told you, if my wife has such beautiful hands, she must look great everywhere else!”
Seeing the positive reaction from the chat, Yan Chuan pressed his lips together, and after saying “goodbye,” he ended the stream.
He took off his mask, his fingertips touching his flushed cheeks, and stared blankly at his dark computer screen for a while.
His earlobes were so red they seemed ready to drip blood, and if his hair wasn’t covering them, the keen-eyed viewers in the chat would have pointed it out.
These fans were so enthusiastic, chatting with him constantly, and he was surprised that the platform didn’t block many keywords.
The inexperienced Yan Chuan seemed a bit dazed by all the attention.
On the other end, Ko was not streaming today. Ever since last night, his mind had been a mess, and he was fixated on the photo he had seen earlier.
In the dim light and noisy background, he usually wouldn’t even pay attention to the content of the photo. But that hand was so beautiful, like a piece of artwork—long and fair, making one want to hold it and kiss the fingertips with reverence.
Even while playing ranked matches, Ko found himself distracted, nearly losing a game.
His teammates noticed his lack of focus and asked what was wrong. Ko couldn’t possibly tell them it was because he had seen a small streamer’s hand that he liked, and then discovered that she had blocked him.
