Yan Chuan felt a bit complicated.
He chose to block a big streamer named “Keli,” to prevent him from remembering to rally his fans against him. The main quest was for him to become the most well-known streamer, but could he really attract over a hundred fans with his poor gaming skills? The identity assigned to him by the escape variety show was that of a cross-dressing streamer. So, unsurprisingly, he would be working as a small employee during the day and streaming at night. Suddenly, this scenario without any supernatural elements began to feel frightening.
Before Yan Chuan could close the streaming room, he heard the system’s alert sound.
“Task One Activated,” the mechanical voice droned in his mind, “Enter the top one hundred on the streamer leaderboard.”
Yan Chuan: ……
He went to check the platform’s homepage and counted the number of fans for all the streamers from high to low. He realized that to rank in the top one hundred, he would need at least over a million fans. Moreover, he would also need to engage with gifts in the streaming room to unlock various features, which meant he had to trick many people into donating gifts to him.
He couldn’t rely on anything else; it all depended on how many people could be attracted to his streaming room. The task’s difficulty was even greater than in the last world.
After thinking for a moment, Yan Chuan decided to set all the videos in the streaming room to private. He couldn’t play games, and the bullet comments in the videos were filled with insults from Keli’s fans. Once set to private, no one could see his works. The homepage was empty, and after a moment of contemplation, Yan Chuan uploaded a photo of his hand. At least it counted as having a work.
After completing all of this, Yan Chuan shut down his computer, tidied up a few things he needed for work during the day, and planned to sleep. He still had to go to the office as a small employee. Although the escape variety show wouldn’t impose professional work requirements on the contestants, being found lacking in skill would jeopardize his image. Plus, he needed to rush to the office to clock in, and if he didn’t sleep now, he wouldn’t wake up tomorrow.
Yan Chuan turned off the light.
Meanwhile, in Keli’s streaming room, he was an e-sports player, arguably one of the strongest streamers of the past few years. With excellent skills and high technical ability, he attracted many viewers in his streaming room, enjoying tremendous popularity.
Keli rose to fame at a young age, was good-looking, and had a rather bad temper, exuding an air of arrogance. His comments were sharp, and basically, every streamer who had connected with him left in tears. A small streamer who had previously connected with Keli was reduced to tears during their interaction, but Keli didn’t care; he was just a lousy gamer anyway.
Tonight, Keli turned on his computer. Outside of the competitive season, he would stream at night, but only when he felt like it, as he didn’t bother with the platform’s requirement for daily streaming hours. After all, this was his side job; his main focus remained on e-sports.
At midnight sharp, Keli opened his streaming room. He turned on the camera and microphone, revealing his handsome face. His short hair was dyed platinum, his features were chiseled and deep, with his brow decorated with an obsidian brow ring that glimmered slightly in the light, and his expression was relaxed. Keli casually greeted his fans with a “Good evening.”
Many fans who had been waiting immediately flooded into the streaming room, filling the chat with messages.
“Good evening, Keli!”
“Can’t wait for the stream!”
……
While Keli lazily scrolled through the bullet comments, contemplating which game to play that night, a discordant message suddenly caught his eye.
“Didn’t Keli link up with a small streamer yesterday? He was cursing really harshly; that person has deleted the video now.”
Keli: ?
He fell silent, trying to recall who he had linked up with yesterday.
Many viewers noticed this comment, morphing into internet trolls.
“Who cares if he deleted it; what’s so interesting about a small streamer?”
“LOL, he wouldn’t even dare to stream, acting all timid; you think we want to watch him stutter?”
Soon, the person who made the earlier comment was overwhelmed and dropped their streaming room number.
The comments read: “Just because he plays badly doesn’t mean he deserves the insults; linking is random. Why insult him? He looks pretty pitiful.”
“You guys are too harsh.”
“Stop arguing,” Keli said lazily, finally recalling the timid small streamer. “I’ll check how he’s doing.”
He remembered that the streamer was very bad at playing games, not even knowing where to jump, and his aim was all over the place. Wait, did he cry when Keli insulted him?
Keli couldn’t recall.
When he linked up with someone to play a game, he would turn on his camera, but the other person hadn’t, and it had taken significant persuasion to get him to start the call. It seemed he had even used a voice changer, making it hard to hear his voice clearly.
Keli casually opened the comments section, looking at a picture from earlier. He noticed that there were indeed no video works from his main career; it looked like they were really deleted. However, there was a photo dated just a few minutes ago, posted in the updates.
Keli clicked on the image to enlarge it.
It was a photo of a hand.
The hand was resting on a desk, with a wrist positioned on the mouse, capturing a slender wrist and long fingers.
The lighting was dim, and the background was chaotic. However, that hand was exceptionally white, as if sculpted from fresh snow, the blue veins visible to the point of transparency, the skin glowing white.
Even the fingertips seemed to have a faint pink tint.
It starkly contrasted with the background.
Keli’s handsome face raised an eyebrow, momentarily taken aback.
“…What the?”
“So white, I want to lick… no, cough, cough, that hand is quite beautiful.”
“With such beautiful hands, the person must be gorgeous too, right?”
“My wife, my wife!”
“Keli, how could you be so mean? Why did you insult him yesterday?! So fierce!”
“So harsh, no wonder he can’t find a partner nowadays!”
