His lips parted slightly, seeming as though they had been coated with a thin layer of moisture.
Upon closer inspection, there appeared to be a faint red mark on his delicate chin, as if someone had kissed his there.
Shan Qi subtly directed his gaze away.
“Here?” he confirmed with the man.
“Yeah,” the husband’s voice was deep, tinged with a hint of satisfaction, as if something had pleased him greatly.
His collar was slightly wrinkled; the previously crisp and ironed formal garments now looked crumpled.
The fabric of his shirt was stiff and firm, making it difficult to leave such a noticeable mark.
It was evident that he had been pushed to the limit; Shan Qi lowered his head, pretending to inspect the water valve with his slender fingers aimlessly fiddling.
His delicate fingers fumbled, but the fabric of the shirt was just hard enough that it probably rubbed his beautiful wife’s fingers raw, and he couldn’t grasp anything at all.
Yet his husband seemed very fierce, not allowing him to escape. His strong arms tightly embraced him, perhaps even holding onto his slim waist with the palm of his hand, fingers lightly stroking…
His originally light red lips deepened in colour, and his pale cheeks began to blush softly.
Then he could certainly hear his beautiful wife’s low sobs, whispering softly to him, pleading for him not to be so harsh with his.
Their interactions were common; the husband, returning home after work, would be affectionate with his wife. Moreover, his wife was so young and beautiful, with black hair and fair skin, his bright eyes seeming to speak, likely capable of persuading his husband with just a few gentle words.
Shan Qi stood in the living room, clearly interrupting the atmosphere, becoming the “clumsy” neighbour.
Another drop of water fell from his brow, barely trailing along the corner of his eye, carrying a hint of sourness.
He too could charm the wild men outside.
Willing to be the beautiful wife’s underground lover, without needing a title. Every day he would wait, a kiss could make the wild man dizzy.
Shan Qi was that unfortunate fool who became disoriented.
“Are there any other tools here?” Shan Qi heard his own voice, calm and steady: “The valve is difficult to pry open.”
“Yeah, I’ll find something inside,” the husband replied.
Soon, only Yan Chuan and Shan Qi remained in the living room.
Yan Chuan glanced towards the bedroom and walked over a few steps, lowering his voice: “What’s going on outside? Why did you come here now…”
Did something happen?
He was surprised to see Shan Qi outside.
The excuse about fixing the plumbing sounded reasonable, but they weren’t actual apartment residents; they were still part of a survival reality show.
However, Shan Qi’s clothes had indeed become damp, with drops of water still dripping from his bangs, looking quite a mess.
Yan Chuan had a bellyful of questions, but it was inappropriate to ask with his husband present.
“Task.”
Yan Chuan’s puzzled inquiries received only a brief response.
Shan Qi still held a wrench in his hand, half-squatting in front of the counter, speaking succinctly: “The night I came to fix the plumbing, I encountered XX, flirting behind my husband’s back.”
As he spoke, his piercing gaze remained fixed on Yan Chuan, his pale eyes shrouded in shadows in the dim light.
[This escape reality show is not as simple as it seems]
[Plumber seeks online help: What to do if I catch my wife being affectionate with his upright husband?]
[Drop a 1 if you also suspect the plumber of being in collusion]
[Without being able to kiss my wife, the world would come to a halt! Who can keep calm? Just holding on!]
[Hey, does no one remember that I haven’t eaten many strawberries yet?]
Yan Chuan let out a small sound of surprise.
Task.
The sound of the cabinet door opening and closing echoed; the husband hadn’t yet come out of the bedroom, likely still searching for the right tools. Yan Chuan frowned, feeling a bit anxious: “Does it have to be now?”
He didn’t voice the rest of his sentence but looked into Shan Qi’s eyes, hoping he would understand.
“The husband” was still in the bedroom.
He was looking for tools, trying to solve the issue of the leaking plumbing with the neighbour. Little did he know, the neighbour was exchanging flirtatious glances with his wife in the living room, hiding their ambiguous relationship from him.
This was rather absurd.
Yan Chuan pressed his lips together; his swollen lower lip still felt warm, reminding him that his husband had just embraced him and kissed him tenderly before knocking.
Now, he was discussing this matter with one of his lovers.
A slight breeze from the loosened window brought in a chill; his exposed calves felt cold, causing Yan Chuan to shiver involuntarily.
After waiting a while without receiving Shan Qi’s response, Yan Chuan’s expression became even more confused.
“We are in a romantic relationship,” Shan Qi finally spoke, his voice low and hoarse, yet his tone inexplicably rising at the end: “How can we call it cheating if it’s not in front of your husband?”
His voice was chillingly calm: “Isn’t this a good opportunity?”
Yan Chuan: ?
What does that even mean?
“Your husband has no idea about our relationship,” Shan Qi explained: “You see, he thinks I’m just here to fix the plumbing, talking with you is nothing unusual.”
“He’s not home during the day, convinced that his wife is at home waiting for him, eagerly anticipating his return. If he were to catch me chatting with the neighbour, he’d merely think it’s ordinary socializing.”
Shan Qi’s expression remained unchanged, his thin lips curving into a sly smile: “Perhaps your husband even believes that the neighbour is very friendly, helping his wife with many tasks and might even come visit again.”
[Either explode in silence or go insane in silence]
[You’ve got quite the imagination]
[Let’s have some sneaky romance scenes right under the main character’s nose, I love it!]
Yan Chuan: “…”
Shan Qi’s tone was as usual, but the content of his words made Yan Chuan’s eyelids twitch.
Realizing the implication of his words, his already slightly flushed cheeks turned noticeably warmer.
Had Shan Qi slipped into character so quickly? He had already gone from furtively glancing in the public bathroom to boldly talking in front of the main character?
