Where did such a caring friend come from?
The “friend” Yanchuan was in contact with was Shan Qi.
Indeed, this person had been in touch with Yanchuan since the last script ended and continued to contact him even as Yanchuan entered the new script.
As soon as Yanchuan opened his phone, he saw 99+ messages.
All of them were sent by Shan Qi, starting with greetings at 9 AM and ending with good nights at 10 PM. Yanchuan could even tell from the photos Shan Qi sent what he had been doing throughout the day.
It could be said that he was very persistent.
Shan Qi’s last message was received at 2 PM.
“I’m back at home in A City,” Shan Qi texted, sharing a photo of a lush little garden and subtly mentioning, “The flowers inside are blooming nicely.”
Yanchuan pondered for a moment.
He replied, “The flowers look nice.”
Shan Qi’s chat window showed that he was typing.
Before Shan Qi could send anything, Yanchuan wrote, “Do you have any empty rooms in your house?”
Shan Qi, confused for a moment, deleted the message he was typing and replied, “Yes, there are plenty.”
Yanchuan: “I plan to leave the hospital and haven’t found a place to stay yet. Can I stay at your place for a night or two?”
Shan Qi: !
He reread the message, word for word, almost doubting if he read it wrong.
Yanchuan was asking if he could stay at his place!
Shan Qi jumped up from his chair and immediately replied, “Sure!”
Feeling that his response was very perfunctory, Shan Qi quickly sent another message: “When? Tomorrow? Should I come pick you up?”
“You don’t have to worry; I’m the only one living in the villa, there are no others.”
“I can cook, and there are plenty of shopping malls nearby. I’ll make whatever you want.”
“I have a lot of free time; I can spend it all with you.”
Staring at the flurry of messages, Yanchuan was: …
Did he say anything else?
All he asked was if there was a place to stay, intending to stay for a couple of days, and he sent so many messages?
Yanchuan felt a bit flushed, wondering if this was a side effect of entering the script.
Stop—
Yanchuan interrupted Shan Qi’s promotional messages about himself or the villa, sending a smiling emoji.
“Thanks in advance,” Yanchuan replied, “I plan to leave the sanatorium tomorrow; are you free?”
Shan Qi: “Yes, morning or afternoon?”
Just like that, Yanchuan’s discharge was confirmed.
Early the next day, Shan Qi arrived to pick him up, though Yanchuan did not tell him which sanatorium he was in, and yet Shan Qi managed to find him accurately.
“I’m downstairs,” Shan Qi texted, having driven into the parking lot of the sanatorium.
He had dressed up for this occasion, and anyone could tell at a glance.
His hair was neatly styled, cut short and clean. The light stubble on his chin was also well-maintained, and his handsome face showed a hint of fierceness.
However, at that moment, there wasn’t an ounce of fierceness left in Shan Qi’s expression; he frowned, restlessly looking between the screen and outside the window.
He was waiting for Yanchuan to respond.
Shan Qi arrived too early; if the sanatorium hadn’t opened to the public until after 10 AM, he probably would have come much earlier.
In fact, he hadn’t slept much the night before.
Shan Qi participated in the escape variety show for thrills; in a way, entering this script had given him a great deal of freedom. After leaving the last script, Shan Qi had not entered a new script.
The reason, of course, was unmentionable.
After all, the other party hadn’t really interacted with him much.
Their attitude had always been distant, polite yet indifferent, but there was never any warmth.
He could recall the beautiful, pristine face with a calm expression, even through the screen.
Shan Qi felt he was definitely hooked.
It even felt like an online romance; ever since leaving the last script, the other party rarely replied, yet he sent messages like clockwork every day.
Some people in relationships weren’t as diligent as he was.
Shan Qi scorned himself while frowning at the messages, afraid of missing any.
Until a small shadow appeared outside the car window.
“I’m here,” a beautiful face suddenly filled his vision, and Shan Qi heard the soft voice, “Did you wait long?”
The person outside the window slightly bowed their head, soft black hair falling down, partially covering their pale cheek, with a pair of dark, shiny eyes that seemed to hold a deep well of emotion.
It was a delicate, handsome young man, looking more fragile than jade.
Shan Qi held his breath, almost unable to hear his own heartbeat.
The beautiful young man frowned slightly, a hint of embarrassment crossing his face.
“I’m sorry…” he explained, “The discharge formalities took a bit of time, I came down as soon as I saw your message.”
Even after explaining, he still felt embarrassed, pursing his lips to smile slightly at Shan Qi.
“It’s fine!” Shan Qi quickly responded, “I haven’t been here long; I just arrived!”
In truth, Shan Qi had been struggling to get ready for several hours since deciding to head out: “Was it quick? Have your discharge procedures been completed?”
Yanchuan nodded, “Yes.”
Shan Qi got out of the car and opened the passenger door for Yanchuan: “Can I ask you a question?”
Yanchuan fastened his seatbelt: “Sure, go ahead.”
Since he would be staying with Shan Qi for a couple of days, answering a few questions was no problem.
However, Shan Qi’s question was, “Why were you hospitalized… Are you in poor health?”
This question was also related to why Yanchuan entered the escape variety show.
“Organ failure,” Yanchuan confessed, “The cause couldn’t be found, I’ve been in the sanatorium for over two years, but I’m much better now.”
