The message came from a particularly concerned person.
However, Yan Chuan didn’t know which one of them it was since he had set all his contacts, including Kelly, as particularly concerned.
He couldn’t help but glance toward the table, but since Evan was still present, he didn’t pick up the phone to check.
“Reply to the message,” he heard Evan say with a somewhat bitter tone, “Don’t mind me.”
From now on, he was going to fully implement the idea of “not interfering with the beautiful little streamer’s activities.”
No matter how many men she was with, whether chatting or live streaming, Evan had to turn a blind eye.
This was the only way to maintain their precarious “transactional relationship”; otherwise, he wouldn’t even qualify to participate in the romantic live streams.
Yan Chuan glanced at Evan with some curiosity.
Not for any particular reason, but simply because Evan had expressed such a seemingly friendly sentiment.
Despite being so tall and strong, when he stood there saying such things, he ended up looking a little pitiful, like a big dog that no one wanted.
He was sitting at his owner’s feet, holding the leash in his mouth, and couldn’t bark even as he watched his owner pet some sleek little puppies.
“Should I reply then?” Yan Chuan said, a bit surprised, before opening the message box as Evan spoke.
Evan, waiting for Yan Chuan to see his message, was speechless.
It seemed that showing weakness didn’t work on the beautiful little streamer; at least not for him.
Evan could only watch as Yan Chuan replied to someone else’s message.
The first message came from Kelly.
The time was over half an hour ago, just shortly after Yan Chuan had sent him a message.
“Sure!” Kelly replied eagerly, afraid Yan Chuan wouldn’t include him. “I’m free; just let me know!”
Next came a long string of confessions, each accompanied by cute emojis to lighten the mood, all filled with puppy expressions.
Yan Chuan struggled to decipher what Kelly wanted to tell him amidst the animated emojis.
“I told them you invited me to join the qualification activities.”
He added slyly, “Even Lian Zhan is furious now, constantly asking me why, saying he wants to message you.”
“By the way, did you receive any messages from them?”
It seemed Kelly was rather pleased to be included in the “partners” category and was boasting about it in front of teammates who hadn’t received anything.
Yan Chuan found this amusingly perplexing.
Kelly… had also become quite strange.
After thinking for a moment, Yan Chuan simply replied with a “Good,” then scrolled down to see messages from Lian Zhan and A.
Why were there so many messages?
From Lian Zhan: “Are you there?”
“I saw your streaming room said you want to join the ‘January Romance’ event. Have you picked anyone?”
“Can I be considered? (starry eyes)”
Scrolling up, he saw many messages from this person, either sharing interesting little anecdotes or sending performance screenshots that he could view.
Yan Chuan would occasionally respond politely with something like “That’s really impressive,” but later he stopped replying due to being busy and the sheer volume of messages.
But now, he had to respond.
Yan Chuan:…
He focused on Evan’s probing gaze, nearly awkwardly standing in front of the screen, and laboriously typed in the chat box, “Sorry, I’ve already chosen someone.”
Almost the instant he sent the message, Lian Zhan replied—
Yan Chuan didn’t see what he said because he arrogantly exited the chat box.
He couldn’t look.
Yan Chuan calmly thought that after reading it, he would indeed question whether he was being a little villainous.
He still had to decline the next person.
Yan Chuan opened the message from A.
This cool guy was quite reserved when not in person, and his messages were far fewer than Lian Zhan’s, which relieved Yan Chuan a bit.
“Have you already selected someone to attend the event with?” that was the first message.
The next one was, “Okay, I understand your choice; sorry for bothering you.”
“If you’re willing, you can consider me after it’s over.”
Yan Chuan:… What should I do if I feel worse?
He almost closed his eyes and replied with a polite apology.
Fortunately, neither of these two pressed him too hard or demanded to know why he hadn’t chosen them.
Yan Chuan skillfully opened the next person’s chat box.
This time, it was Li.
Thinking of how this person lived next door, and noting that Evan had knocked on the door quite loudly earlier, he definitely knew.
Yan Chuan grew anxious.
He awkwardly moved a bit to the side to shield Evan’s gaze from the screen.
Behind him, Evan…
Yan Chuan continued to read the messages.
“Are you home yet?” This was an older message.
Yan Chuan scrolled down and saw another message: “I’m glad to be one of the options.”
It was accompanied by a slight smiling emoji.
Yan Chuan cautiously averted his gaze, feeling nervous.
Okay, he also found it quite uncomfortable talking to Li.
The following message was more recent, and thankfully, Li didn’t mention anything about the knocking but only stated he would join the event to accompany Yan Chuan.
Feeling guilty, Yan Chuan replied, “Okay, I understand. Thank you for that.”
Then came the messages from Black Spade.
Upon opening this series of messages, Yan Chuan could sense Evan nearby, going from just managing to stand still to unconsciously pacing back and forth.
Yan Chuan felt his own cheeks heat up.
Sure, it was indeed a bit too crowded.
But he still had to brace himself and respond to each message; they had been neglected for so long, after all.
Under Evan’s intense stare, Yan Chuan clicked open the chat box.
“I will participate in the event on time.”
