“I can get someone to bring you some food?”
Yan Chuan shook his head. “No need.”
He sliced a tomato and stuffed it into a sandwich with cheese. “I’m not very hungry, just a little snack will do.”
Evan enjoyed cooking in front of him or ordering takeout from expensive restaurants. He was enthusiastic about watching him eat, as if it could significantly enhance his appetite.
Yan Chuan often suspected he could gain a few pounds just from this script.
On the screen, his voice sounded faint and not very warm.
But Evan was already accustomed to it; he could talk to himself without needing a response.
“It would be great if you were here,” Evan said. “There’s a kitchen, and I could cook for you here. Otherwise, business trips are too boring.”
After saying that, he added, “I just want to be with you.”
The words felt a bit cheesy, and Yan Chuan merely raised an eyebrow.
Since their last meeting, it seemed Evan had awakened some skill in sweet-talking. Every day he either said “I love you,” “I like you,” or “I miss you,” even if they were never more than a hundred meters apart.
What a fine second-generation heir, suddenly an executive, dealing with piles of paperwork, yet he occasionally had to say these almost harassing words to an innocent employee.
Yan Chuan had grown immune to it and could even respond without changing his expression.
“Don’t you have work?” Yan Chuan asked him, casually spreading some sauce in the sandwich. “You seem free?”
Evan looked at him as he placed the sandwich on a plate and responded, “Not much work.”
Thinking about how long he’d been apart from Yan Chuan due to business trips, and seeing the little response from the pretty employee, made him feel a bit down.
“I was supposed to be on a business trip for a week,” Evan said, “but I managed to shorten it, though I’ll be back late.”
Yan Chuan thought for a moment: “Won’t that be busy? Will you manage?”
But he was thinking that if Evan were on a business trip for a week, he might finish his upcoming live streams in the meantime.
Evan smiled, feeling like Yan Chuan was showing concern for him. “I can manage.”
He felt good: “Work isn’t as important as seeing you.”
[Poor thing, he definitely doesn’t know that my wife just cuddled with another man.]
[I can’t help but ask, can he discover his wife’s identity before she participates in the live streaming event? Joining the all-in army, who wouldn’t want a self-strategizing sponsoring superior?]
[Bring on the plot of thinking they’re mutually invested only to find out his wife has many men outside, love it!]
Yan Chuan shot Evan a glance, labeling him as slick-tongued.
But Evan had been like this for over a day, and if he could hold on, it would pass.
This person loved to self-analyze and would react for a while after a couple of words, eager to use all the “how to date” tips to figure out his thoughts.
Yan Chuan just needed to pretend in front of Evan, hiding his identity as a little streamer.
“Do you have any more business trips coming up?” Yan Chuan asked after some thought.
He surely had to participate in that January live dating event; he could spend the previous week at home streaming with his partner, but the following three weeks would require him to go to a designated location.
When streaming normally, he could wear a mask to hide his appearance, but once it became time for the event, he definitely couldn’t keep the mask on.
If he refused to show his face, it wouldn’t be genuine streaming, and there would surely be dissatisfied viewers.
However, he initially chose to wear a mask for fear of being recognized.
His social circle was narrow, mostly consisting of coworkers in the same office and more frequent meetings with Evan.
His colleagues politely didn’t disturb his private life, knowing he was a female streamer who was referred to as “wife” on the platform. They might be more surprised than anything, after all, Yan Chuan really saw the other side pursuing his stream.
But Evan…
Yan Chuan hadn’t forgotten the role he had taken on before him – the “cool, stubborn, and independent little flower.”
Evan only knew he was a quiet, unremarkable employee in the company, with a hint of a tragic backstory.
He was cool and stubborn, unwilling to accept any financial support in ambiguous dealings with his boss, appearing very much like a little flower.
But Evan had no idea that the cool little flower behind his back was a female streamer, engaging in vague relationships with many men.
During the selection process for her potential husband in the live stream, almost ten options were presented.
He had also streamed once at Evan’s house; if Evan stumbled upon his streaming room, he could find out everything.
After finishing a livestream in a maid outfit, he was still in that outfit in the stream.
If he were to see the chat records with his financier, that would be something else entirely.
Yan Chuan felt a bit guilty, lowering his head as he took small bites of the sandwich, not daring to look at Evan’s face.
Evan was still talking, asking what he wanted for dinner and if he should order takeout for him.
Just then, Yan Chuan heard a knock at the door.
“Hang on,” Yan Chuan put down his cup. “I’ll get the door.”
He stood up and left the range of the video.
When Yan Chuan opened the door, he saw Li’s face.
“?” He was still mindful of the video call with Evan, so he didn’t let him in right away, first asking, “What’s up?”
Li was holding a food box, evidently bringing him something he had cooked.
“I made some soup and wanted you to try it,” Li said in a淡淡 voice, with a tone a bit cold. Looking cool, yet carrying the persona of a household husband.
Recently, Li had been cooking for Yan Chuan, and even the fans in the streaming room were quite pleased with this new husband candidate.
Who wouldn’t like a cool guy who could cook, do housework, and take care of his wife?
