The corners of her eyes slightly tilted upwards, revealing a line of dark lashes connected like a shadow, imbued with a lustrous pink hue.
She was even more beautiful than in the photos.
“You are stunning,” Qi Yan unabashedly complimented, “You’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen. I misspoke the last time; it’s not that many people like you, it’s that everyone will like you.”
“I feel the same.”
His words were overly flattering, leaving Yan Chuan blushing.
This person really liked to say such things, showering others with compliments quite liberally.
Yan Chuan hesitated, unsure whether to interrupt, but simply listened with a flushed face.
Qi Yan spoke at length, all the while looking directly at Yan Chuan, before softly saying:
“When I see you… I really don’t know what to say.”
What seemed like a scene of workplace relationships transformed into a confession.
Qi Yan slowly walked over, motioning Yan Chuan to sit at the office desk, where he took his place behind the screen.
On the screen appeared something resembling a project proposal.
Yan Chuan glanced at the title.
“Regarding… the training plan for streamers…?”
Is this the training plan for him?
The beautiful young streamer looked at Qi Yan in confusion.
“Yes,” Qi Yan nodded at the screen, looking from behind as though wrapping his arms around him: “It’s the development plan drafted for you in the meeting.”
His tone remained unchanged: “Your performance has been great, and the platform values you not because of me.”
Yan Chuan couldn’t escape the warmth that seemed to linger on his earlobes, giving a small hum in acknowledgment.
The posture inevitably felt a bit ambiguous; Yan Chuan felt as if he was completely embraced by Qi Yan and awkwardly shifted away.
But Qi Yan appeared natural, showing no signs of discomfort.
“For future plans,” he pointed to the next page, “it’s to further develop you, not just as a streamer, but also into film and entertainment.”
Yan Chuan reluctantly looked at a page titled “How to Start Cultivating a Star from Scratch.”
He finally regained his composure and shook his head in rejection: “No… I don’t plan to become a star.”
Yan Chuan found himself at a loss for words.
He streamed merely to fulfill the tasks of the script, not genuinely seeking fame or money.
From beginning to end, he was only focused on achieving the “most popular streamer” status; the script didn’t require him to become a big star, so why even consider it?
He thought of something else.
What if Qi Yan was trying to use the chance to make him a big star as an excuse to implement a plan disguised as development, but was really a form of patronage?
Just like Evan?
Was he fixated on this poor little employee/streamer?
Hearing the firm refusal, Qi Yan paused for a moment before saying, “It’s fine if you don’t have thoughts in that direction; we can still develop you as a streamer.”
Yan Chuan hesitated and nodded.
“Why cultivate me?” he asked, somewhat perplexed: “I’m just a newcomer streamer. Aren’t you worried about investing in me and facing failure?”
He was just a newcomer with less than a month of streaming experience, only half-understanding the medium, relying on the audience for support; surely the platform should choose someone… with a bit more experience?
“Because you are the most suitable candidate,” Qi Yan replied. “No one is more suitable than you.”
“And…” he elongated his words, a rare smile gracing his tone: “There are also some personal reasons.”
“What reasons?” Yan Chuan turned his face, blinking uncomfortably.
“Such as liking you,” Qi Yan said bluntly.
[Young streamer upgrades! Becomes a big star!]
[Hilarious, my wife is left stunned by what she hears]
[Really, why not throw in some forced plot twists? How about “You wouldn’t want to lose this job,” right? I’d like to see my wife cornered by a bad man in the office like this.]
[Oh no, my wife is about to become a big star; more people will be vying for her! Sob sob sob]
Yan Chuan turned red, avoiding Qi Yan’s gaze.
This person was indeed inexplicably strange.
But he also needed the platform’s focus on his development.
After all, it was improbable for him to achieve the task on his own, without knowing how long he would need to stream to gain the “highest popularity.”
If only he had the platform’s support, it would surely bring in greater traffic.
Yet Qi Yan’s words clearly hinted at a small ulterior motive…
Yan Chuan hesitated, looking over at Qi Yan.
But just as he opened his mouth to speak, he swallowed the words back down.
Both Qi Yan and Evan were the kinds of individuals who were… peculiar; the latter could be misled by him. However, Qi Yan was both his top supporter and the person in charge of the platform, making it harder to deceive him…
He seemed much sharper than Evan, not someone who could be swayed easily by a couple of words.
Yan Chuan certainly couldn’t treat Qi Yan with the same attitude he had towards Evan, casually dismissing the major investor of his streaming career.
So he could only obediently nod, indicating he understood.
Finally, Yan Chuan confirmed the contract with Qi Yan.
Overall, there were no significant changes, but the revenue share and time frame were adjusted to be more favorable to Yan Chuan.
One additional clause stated that the platform would vigorously support him as a newbie streamer.
Overall, the new contract was extremely beneficial to Yan Chuan.
Qi Yan continued explaining right by his ear, warm breath fanning against his delicate white earlobe.
It sounded very professional, yet Yan Chuan’s face turned red, with delicate fingers twisting the hem of his dress, leaving marks on the fabric.
Somewhere along the line, Qi Yan naturally drew Yan Chuan to sit on his lap.
The spacious office chair felt a bit snug for two people. With warmer body heat leaning in, Yan Chuan shifted awkwardly into the corner.
But no matter how spacious the office chair was, it was still limited in size; he had nowhere to hide.
