He swallowed hard, his throat moving slightly. “How about we all go out for a meal together?”
Before Yan Chuan could respond, Ke Li glared at Lian Zhan, wishing he could kick this person out of the group for deliberately showing off.
It was clearly he who had invited the cute little streamer and asked if they could go out to eat together. Why had this now turned into Lian Zhan suggesting it?
Was he shameless?
Not only did Lian Zhan speak up, but others in his group chimed in as well.
“Yeah, why don’t we just go out together?”
“Two people are too lonely, let’s go as a group.”
You guys?!!
The joy of having gotten close to the pretty little streamer was gone. Ke Li didn’t know who to glare at, so he had no choice but to turn his gaze to the little streamer surrounded in the center.
He was smaller in frame than the other team members, making him seem even more delicate when surrounded. His expression was a bit bewildered.
“Oh, um…” The beautiful little streamer hesitated and politely replied, “That’s okay, but are you all free?”
His voice was soft and trembled a little.
One or two of the team members immediately replied, “Yes!”
“How could we not be free?”
“The captain probably has no time.”
“He definitely doesn’t have time.”
Ke Li felt like he was going to burst out laughing from anger. After hugging the pretty little streamer, he was not only pushed aside but now they were saying the chance to go out for dinner was gone.
He squeezed into the crowd and got in front of the pretty little streamer. “Don’t listen to their nonsense.”
“Delegating tasks is for the agents,” Ke Li naturally took the little streamer’s wrist. “There’s no need for me to go. Besides, we already agreed to go eat together.”
The little streamer nodded blankly.
Ke Li immediately said, “It’s too inconvenient with so many people, let’s just go by ourselves.”
As soon as he said this, the nearby team members started interjecting.
“What’s inconvenient about it?”
“The other party hasn’t said anything. How did the captain just decide that?”
…
“Stop!” Yan Chuan, slightly annoyed by the noise, frowned and shouted, “Be quiet.”
As soon as he frowned, the break room instantly quieted down, a group of tall men staring at him obediently.
Yan Chuan felt his scalp tingle under their gazes and simply took out a bouquet he had purchased from a flower shop.
With so many people earlier, he hadn’t found the opportunity to give the flowers away.
“This,” Yan Chuan looked at Ke Li, enduring his dazed gaze, “I saw it on the way.”
The bouquet was beautifully wrapped, with a light pink ribbon fluttering, complementing the deep green petals.
Ke Li hesitated, “Is this for me?”
He watched as the beautiful little streamer reached out with delicate fingers to untie the ribbon and then…
Chose a flower for himself.
A single flower was placed in his hand.
The petals were slightly damp, and the deep green leaves contrasted with the tender pink bud that was on the verge of blooming, at its most beautiful moment.
However, he only received one.
Ke Li stared at the beautiful little streamer in disbelief.
He watched as a small bouquet was divided among the team members behind him, and not a single person was left out.
The number of flowers was exactly right; by the end, there was neither an extra nor a missing flower.
Each person received one, perfectly divided among the team members in the break room.
As the team captain, the only privilege he had was to receive the first flower, having chosen the prettiest one for himself.
Of course, the most beautiful flower still resided in his imagination.
The pretty little streamer skillfully selected from the bouquet, moving gracefully among all of them, handing out flowers to each person.
Ke Li realized this, and the excitement of his victory diminished significantly.
Lian Zhan was still trying to pick on him, exaggeratedly praising the beautiful little streamer’s good eye, saying how much he liked this, while the other team members expressed their joy at receiving flowers.
Just like that, Ke Li found himself inadvertently pushed to the outside again, watching the delicate beautiful little streamer surrounded by them, smiling at everyone with a overwhelmed look.
He was looking similar to how he had been in front of Ke Li, even forgetting that this captain was still stuck behind.
Ke Li pinched a thin flower, feeling his face turn as green as its leaves.
In his heart, it felt sour, like he had swallowed a lemon, and he even forgot to bring out the medal he had intended to show to the beautiful little streamer.
That medal lay in his pocket, suddenly feeling heavier than a thousand pounds.
The winning team from the afternoon’s competition would receive trophies and medals. The medal had been taken back by the agent to be displayed prominently at the training base. Players could take their medals home.
Ke Li had a little scheme in mind; when the agent took the trophy away, he stealthily grabbed his own medal, intending to present it to the beautiful little streamer.
The medal’s edge bore two small letters, “kl,” the initials of his name, which were not very noticeable and could only be seen when light reflected off them.
If the beautiful little streamer could wear it, and placed it in his house, would he discover that the medal had his name on it?
Besides, since he won the competition, the little streamer wouldn’t refuse to accept a gift from him, right?
But now, Ke Li couldn’t even squeeze in.
Clearly, he was the captain and the first to invite the pretty little streamer to watch the match. Yet, his teammates surrounded him in layers, their hands and feet brushing against the little streamer—who didn’t know what they were thinking?
But the little streamer was exceedingly innocent, not angry at being surrounded by men, and diligently answered everyone’s questions.
