“Don’t worry, I’ll find a vehicle to take you to another place.”
He quickly found a small motorcycle and sped off with Yan Chuan.
Yan Chuan glanced at Ke Li and Lian Zhan’s location on the map. “What about them?”
He could barely see those two anymore on the map. Was it really okay to leave the other team members behind and run off?
A’s voice remained indifferent, though his tone softened slightly. “We’ll see them once the circle shrinks. There are too few supplies here; it’s better to split up.”
“Four people have a bigger target,” he explained further. “I will make sure to protect you.”
Yan Chuan nodded in agreement.
After all, he wasn’t good at the game, and being behind anyone else would only be a burden.
Clearly, A was a taciturn person; after explaining, he went silent but continued to lead Yan Chuan forward.
During the game, Yan Chuan didn’t often pay attention to the bullet comments, even if he could win effortlessly by doing nothing. Still, he anxiously stared at the screen, adjusting the volume to try and catch any sounds of footsteps.
Perhaps it was his nervousness that caught A’s attention, as he comforted him, “You don’t need to be so tense; my aim is quite good.”
Worried about dragging A down and being scolded, Yan Chuan replied, “I know, but I’m afraid of being a burden, making you come to save me.”
Getting carried along was one thing; being a novice who held others back was another entirely, especially when facing a stranger like A for the first time.
“No,” A denied, explaining under Yan Chuan’s confused gaze, “I’ll keep watch here; no one can hit you.”
His tone was cold, yet his words conveyed a sense of certainty that offered some reassurance, even over the screen.
Yan Chuan paused, smiling at A, who had his camera off. “Thank you.”
With only his eyes visible behind the mask, it was easy to see he was exceptionally handsome with those bright, clear eyes.
His small face was pale; soft, jet-black hair hung down, and his eyes sparkled.
His voice was gentle and obedient, dressed in a perfectly fitting maid uniform, thanking a man he didn’t know through a network connection.
This beautiful little streamer sparked hidden tensions among the team leader and the members.
A usually wasn’t keen on taking others into games, but he had seen the little streamer’s photos on someone else’s phone.
Those slender, perfectly straight legs could excite any leg enthusiast on the spot.
His expression was innocent, concentrating on the screen as he answered one question after another, slightly nervous.
In his heart, he was left with only one thought: no wonder he could push his usually disciplined team leader to nearly fight over a streamer who had never shown her face.
Being looked at this way, A paused for a moment before saying, “You’re welcome.”
【You must be thrilled.】
【I’m laughing so hard; the captain diligently wanted to duo with Yan Bao, yet you took the advantage.】
【He’s the type that’s cool, but I feel like if his girlfriend said a few more words to him, he’d reveal himself.】
A took Yan Chuan into a tall building to scavenge for supplies. After collecting all usable gear, they took cover on the rooftop to snipe. Whenever someone appeared, A took them out, and when he encountered groups, he tossed grenades and moved to another position.
Yan Chuan controlled his game character to lie low and stay alert.
However, his eyesight wasn’t good; he only noticed someone approaching when A fired.
He may have been a novice, but he was being carried along.
Yan Chuan felt what it was like to have a noob being taken to rank up.
A had keen hearing and excellent marksmanship, taking out one after another. Yan Chuan didn’t even have to follow up with throwing grenades; he easily played the novice role.
Following the same method, they eliminated two grouped teams, leaving only a handful of players remaining.
“Should we go find Ke Li and the others now?” Yan Chuan glanced at the flood of messages in the chat box and asked, “They’ve been urging us for a while.”
“Alright,” A agreed, “Let’s drive to find them.”
By the time they reached the final circle area, Ke Li and Lian Zhan were already on the mountain.
Their haul was better than what Yan Chuan and A had, probably because both were skilled, while A was busy being cautious with Yan Chuan, the novice.
“Shall we take the high ground and set an ambush?” Lian Zhan suggested.
Ke Li nodded in agreement. “Let’s wait a moment. The last three players will be here soon, possibly as a team.”
As they discussed where to lie in ambush, Yan Chuan quietly followed behind and took medicine to raise his stats, so he wouldn’t collapse right before victory.
As a group of players climbed down to the prepared ambush, the sounds of gunfire erupted nearby, followed by grenades and smoke bombs. Yan Chuan couldn’t see where they were.
But this also proved that the remaining three players were not from the same team; they had to engage.
Ke Li took the opportunity of the fray, waiting until the two groups exhausted their ammo before rushing out with a few bursts to take down the three players.
The victory screen lit up in the live stream chat.
They won the match; although Yan Chuan didn’t contribute much, he did level up considerably.
Ke Li gained the most points, but he didn’t seem very happy, pursing his lips and glancing at Yan Chuan from time to time.
Once the other two exited the game, he stiffly asked, “What did he say to you just now?”
Yan Chuan had no idea why he was so curious and replied, “Nothing much; he just told me to stay close and not wander off.”
Ke Li responded with an “oh.”
He quickly added, not sure who he was speaking to, “Following me can protect you, too.”
His voice sounded a bit jealous, like old vinegar.
Yan Chuan pursed his lips. “I know, but in a team, there’s no difference between following you or him.”
He hadn’t even spent ten minutes alone with A before they joined together with several others.
Besides, why would a game streamer like Ke Li care so much about the movements of a newbie in their team?
Yan Chuan glanced at the time, feeling it was about time to end the stream and take a break, so he informed the viewers.
