Of course, this “chat” was one-sided from Keri’s perspective, seemingly casual in his inquiries.
“Your clothes…” The small screen in the live broadcast reflected Keri’s face, his platinum hair and subtle frown suggesting a nonchalant demeanor while the browbone glimmered under the light.
Keri’s gaze wandered, fixating on the beautiful face on the screen: “Did you buy it to wear during the livestream?”
[No, it’s for showing off to the boss.]
[Keri’s second century crisis during the livestream, his wife is spending the night at another man’s place!]
[Stop being so fixated on your livestream; actually pursuing your wife offline is the way to go.]
[A man who is clumsy and lacks scheming cannot win in the battle for his wife. Here’s a suggestion: first get rid of that green tea boy in the team, then spend money to meet your wife offline, use your innocence and sincerity to impress her, and you’ll succeed if you persevere!]
The barrage of comments made Keri feel increasingly uncertain.
What had happened while he was away? Who was this boss?
More than anything, he felt an unspeakable frustration; it wasn’t long before other men surrounded the beautiful streamer, making him feel like a pathetic puppy.
At least a puppy could receive some affection; he couldn’t even muster the courage to message the beautiful streamer without second-guessing every word he typed.
Just yesterday, when Lian Zhan was antagonizing him in front of Keri, he had nearly gotten into a fight, only for the other teammates to intervene upon hearing the commotion. Otherwise, the two would have really clashed at the training base.
Keri recalled the words of his agent who hurriedly separated them, asking him why he would get angry over something said by a teammate.
But how could Keri explain?
How could he tell his agent that Lian Zhan had been disrespectful to the beautiful streamer he liked?
To be fair, it wasn’t outright disrespect; it was merely Lian Zhan expressing his intention to pursue her while mocking Keri for having been blacklisted by her and still trying to mingle.
It was just stating the facts.
Yet, Keri felt like a dog whose tail had been stepped on, so anxious he could hardly stay still.
Lian Zhan chuckled at him, implying that how could the beautiful streamer possibly like someone who had bullied her?
Those words dampened Keri’s mood even further, and when other teammates tried to mediate, he found himself growing angrier.
Because that group of men couldn’t take their eyes off the beautiful streamer’s photo!
They were saying sweet nothings but had even changed their screensavers to her picture!
Lian Zhan was one thing, but why were the others so infatuated with just a photo?
A bunch of lecherous fools!
In any case, Keri felt truly miserable, suppressing his frustrations until the evening’s livestream.
As captain, he cleverly exerted his privilege by kicking out the overly eager team member who wanted to join the livestream, opting instead for A, a teammate who usually spoke very little.
Lian Zhan was still there, so he couldn’t kick him out.
But upon entering the livestream, Keri found a new opponent waiting.
“I bought it myself,” Yan Chuan said, his seasoned confusion evident behind his mask. “Of course it’s for the livestream; I can’t wear it to work during the day.”
Keri’s eyes brightened slightly. “Really?”
He asked again, “What about your boss…?”
Yan Chuan murmured in response, “He’s just here for overtime; he doesn’t know about the livestream.”
His simple explanation prompted Keri to repeat “good” several times, like a naive husband believing a pale promise from his wife.
He knew he had donned multiple eco-friendly hats, but when he closed his eyes, he saw nothing.
Yan Chuan bit his lip.
Keri wanted to say more, but Lian Zhan had already unmuted.
He broke the strange atmosphere between Yan Chuan and Keri, engaging Yan Chuan in idle chatter.
“Don’t be afraid when you meet someone later,” Lian Zhan said with a smile. “If it’s an NPC, just shoot him in the head and chest. If it’s a real person, just shoot anywhere; I’ll cover you.”
Strangely, he ignored his teammates yet remained enthusiastic when addressing Keri.
This thought flashed through Yan Chuan’s mind, and he quickly responded to Lian Zhan.
“Okay.” He nodded obediently.
Keri, dissatisfied, unmuted himself, though his discontent was directed at Lian Zhan.
“Stick with me; I’ll help you fight,” he mocked coldly. “Some people can’t even protect themselves yet want to protect others.”
Lian Zhan snorted, retorting, “You’re able to?”
The back-and-forth conversation between the two could be heard in the earpiece, and Yan Chuan felt a bit confused: “No, right…?”
He could actually fight by himself; he wasn’t at a level where he needed to hide behind others for protection.
A tapped his earpiece, his voice cool and smooth, sounding like a tough guy: “Stop arguing.”
Before Keri and Lian Zhan could say anything, he commanded, “Stick with me; let’s search the house now.”
[LOL, how did it turn into a fight already?]
[Keri carefully picked a reliable teammate, but he doesn’t know that he’ll be attracting his wife’s attention. How pitiful.]
[Three men in a scene, while I sit in the audience with my wife watching the drama unfold.]
[The beautiful streamer has so many husbands jpg.]
[Keri thinks it’s a duo when it’s really just himself with someone he doesn’t see eye to eye with, while his wife is happily paired with someone else.]
Yan Chuan: ?
Stay close to him?
Yan Chuan didn’t recognize him and thought he was going to sternly criticize him for being a gamer hiding behind others, not realizing A was inviting him to stick with him.
“Hurry up,” A urged him. “Someone’s coming.”
Yan Chuan nodded eagerly, maneuvering his game character to catch up, leaving Keri and Lian Zhan behind.
The sandy map was vast; finding gear relied on luck.
A eliminated an NPC, snatched his gear, and picked up a weapon while leaving a gun and ammunition for Yan Chuan.
Yan Chuan looked at the approaching red dot on the screen, hesitating: “You take the gun; my aim is terrible.”
