The sofa was a bit narrow for Tong Sui, but it was manageable. However, for someone with a larger frame like Bai Xingluo, it would be quite uncomfortable.
“When I was on missions, the conditions were much worse than here; having just one sofa was already a luxury,” Bai Xingluo remarked.
Seeing the hesitation on Tong Sui’s face, Bai Xingluo continued, “I really can do this. Just watch.”
He proceeded to show that he could indeed sleep comfortably on the small sofa, despite his larger physique, attempting to curl up in an amusing manner. This strangely reminded Tong Sui of a cat trying to fit into a box, causing him to chuckle softly and, as a result, added a blush to Bai Xingluo’s cheeks.
“Alright, but only for tonight.”
If they needed to live together for a long time, the current environment would definitely not suffice. While he pondered this, Bai Xingluo added, “I have a few properties that I purchased previously; they have all been renovated, but I haven’t really lived in them. If you don’t mind, you can move in anytime.”
This was indeed a good suggestion. However, Tong Sui hesitated a bit more. Bai Xingluo suggested, “Or if you have a place in mind, we could buy that instead.”
“No, no, no, that would be too extravagant.”
This was Tong Sui’s first mission, and he was uncertain about how success was defined—perhaps it would be determined after a month or a year. He wasn’t clear on the timeline at all. So, simplicity was key; once he left, Bai Xingluo wouldn’t suffer any losses either.
Bai Xingluo was unaware of Tong Sui’s inner thoughts and was instead absorbed in the joy of the idea that the lord would move into one of his houses. Those previously empty properties suddenly gained significance. He recalled that some of those houses were purchased by him, while others were rewards from the empire. All were first-class luxury homes.
Even so, he felt the environment wasn’t quite good enough. After mentally sifting through them one by one, he settled on a location in the Star River Continent that was still acceptable. It was built by the riverside, and during sunsets, the sky was a spectacular canvas of reds. If the lord liked it, he could watch the sunset every day or fish by the riverbank. The location was also central, making going out very convenient.
Bai Xingluo opened his holographic screen and carefully displayed the virtual images of the properties. Although they were proportionally scaled down, the level of detail was remarkably high.
“My Lord, do you like it?”
Tong Sui was taken aback by the opulence on display, let alone the golden location. Even without a deep understanding of property value, he could instinctively tell the total price of these houses was far from cheap.
Bai Xingluo observed his expression, feeling somewhat relieved; it seemed the lord was somewhat satisfied.
“That’s great!” He quickly followed up, “Do you have any other plans tomorrow?”
Tong Sui shook his head.
The original owner of his identity was unemployed, surviving mostly on playing games and ordering takeout, which left him with hardly any formal work.
“There’s a furniture store nearby. You can choose your favourite style, and after it is delivered, you can move in right away. If that seems troublesome, you can also buy online.”
However, when it came to furniture, comfort could only be gauged by personal experience.
Tong Sui had nothing else keeping him busy. Thus, they settled on the plan for moving and buying furniture for the next day.
After a busy day, Tong Sui soon felt tired. After washing up, he fell into a deep sleep, only to wake up feeling hungry the next day.
Earlier, to save Bai Xingluo, he used the special nutrient solution produced by this world to suppress his hunger, but the taste was truly bad. It was gooey and only had the one advantage of being very filling.
Not sure if it was the lingering sleepiness or not, he seemed to smell the aroma of food wafting in through the crack under the door.
Since there were more convenient nutrient solutions available, residents in this world rarely cooked. Only the more delicate males would eat such finely prepared meals.
As for Tong Sui, his cooking skills were abysmal, which pretty much eliminated the possibility of him cooking.
After washing up, the aroma became stronger.
He opened the door and stepped out.
In the narrow kitchen stood a figure whose tall stature nearly filled the small space.
The tempting aroma was definitely coming from the kitchen.
The figure looked different from yesterday’s dishevelled appearance.
Today, Bai Xingluo had tied back his soft long hair behind his ears. His tall frame stood with a rigid posture, back straight as if he were a precious diamond—shining, with an expressionless face that seemed particularly cold, like unmelted snow atop a mountain—holy and unattainable.
Yet, here he was, wearing an apron, standing in the somewhat cramped kitchen, adorned with the smells of earthly life.
Hearing the noise, the person in the kitchen turned around, the icy aura instantly thawed, causing his demeanour to soften and become lively.
His bright white hair shimmered in front of Tong Sui, resembling a dazzling meteor.
“Lord, good morning.”
Bai Xingluo had gradually become accustomed to this form of address, as he looked at Tong Sui who had just woken up, his heart racing a bit.
The just-awakened lord looked incredibly cute.
His black hair was fluffy and soft from sleep, with a few strands standing tousled atop his head that looked adorably awkward.
His cotton pajamas were a bit oversized, hanging crookedly on him, covering half of his drooping hand.
His clear eyes still held a trace of sleepiness, rubbing his eyes, and his voice had a raspy edge from just waking up.
“Morning, why didn’t you sleep a bit longer?”
“I thought you might prefer cooked food, so I prepared it in advance. I hope it suits your taste.”
Bai Xingluo placed the final omelette on the table.
The already narrow dining table was filled with all sorts of breakfast items.
There were pan-fried dumplings sprinkled with chopped green onions and beautifully crisped, crunchy deep-fried dough sticks, soft-boiled eggs, aromatic soy milk, and some dishes Tong Sui had never seen before.
