A pleasant voice sounded, “Hello, I’m here to report.”
The two boys in front of her were nearly dazzled by the sight; what stunning looks! Could they really be from the School of Computer Science?!
They immediately felt proud and handed over two forms. “Please fill these out and submit your information.”
Chi Xingyu said, “I’m not here for that; I’m just accompanying him.”
After completing the enrollment procedures, Chi Xingyu and Tong Sui went to check out the allocated dormitory.
Standard is four people in one room, with beds on top and desks below.
This condition is already considered decent in the dormitory, but it can’t compare to living in their own place. Chi Xingyu was originally reluctant to let Tong Sui stay in the dormitory.
However, H University requires residence for everyone without exceptions.
From a distance, they could hear the sounds of video games coming from inside. The dormitory door was open, and three boys were huddled together playing a shooting game.
Chi Xingyu glanced at their faces and dismissed any possibility of Tong Sui forming deeper feelings beyond friendship with them.
They were not cooperating very well and soon got surrounded; all three screens dimmed.
One of them remarked, “Do you think you are Chi Shen? Not playing it safe and just charging in to die.”
As they talked, they noticed the two standing at the door.
“Holy sh*t?!! Chi, Chi Shen?!”
“Am I dreaming? Someone slap me!”
They were so startled that they immediately stood up.
For boys who play games, being a professional player is an unattainable dream, and someone with the prowess of Chi Xingyu is the most popular of them all.
Many people spend a lot of money on tickets just to watch a game in person.
And they were actually seeing him in the flesh today!!
It was surreal…
Under the halo of Chi Xingyu, it was almost effortless to establish a rapport with the other three dorm mates, and they added each other as friends.
The three patted their chests, promising to notify Chi Xingyu first about any matters.
The first week after the semester started was military training, and everyone was exhausted and sunburnt, but Tong Sui still stood out as the brightest in the class.
Chi Xingyu was worried he would get sunburned, so he bought a bunch of sunscreen.
He stayed beneath a tree not far away, attending online classes on his phone, handing out water and towels during breaks, helping him drink water and wipe the sweat.
At first, people would approach them to chat, but as they gradually discovered the two were a couple, the number of people trying to strike up a conversation dwindled.
This made Chi Xingyu very satisfied; he wanted everyone to know they were together, almost wishing the whole world knew.
However, there was one thing that left him somewhat dissatisfied.
Tong Sui was busy with military training, resting only a little each day, and had to practice more on the playground in the evenings. There was hardly any time to look at him more, let alone do anything else.
He could only sneak away with Tong Sui to a secluded, unused teaching building to exchange a brief but passionate kiss before the afternoon rest ended.
It felt like merely scratching the surface of their desires.
Whenever he wanted to go deeper, he would see the tears welling in the corners of Tong Sui’s eyes as he softly said, “I want to sleep…”
Chi Xingyu could only suppress his frustration and let him go.
After military training ended, just when the two had not yet found time to get together, Chi Xingyu received a notice from his team to return for training in preparation for the upcoming new season.
Caught up in love, he had no choice but to leave.
Although they couldn’t meet, whenever there was time, they clung to each other through voice messages, chatting about random things and asking how university life was treating Tong Sui, whether he was adjusting well.
When it was time for Tong Sui to turn off the lights, Chi Xingyu reluctantly hung up, converting to text messages.
Because there were too many mundane matters during the day, he also had to attend night study sessions, and the computer major was something entirely foreign to him.
Tong Sui often ended up responding only to fall asleep.
Once they officially started competitions, the frequency of their communication plummeted; it became completely normal for a response to take several hours.
The new season required frequent matches, reviewing games, and maintaining high points to select the strongest teams from each region to compete in the global finals.
During one of his classes, Tong Sui overheard nearby classmates discussing.
“The EV team has been performing quite steadily, ranking first in points; they’re likely to qualify for this round.”
“Such a shame we can’t watch in person…”
“The tickets for the qualifiers were instantly sold out; even scalpers couldn’t manage to get front-row seats; they only had the back rows at inflated prices.”
Listening to their discussions, Tong Sui recalled how Chi Xingyu would send him tickets for every match, with seat numbers in the front rows, the closest position to him.
It seemed to have become a habit.
However, because Tong Sui was selected to participate in a computer knowledge competition, he had weekend training and couldn’t find the time to fly to the city where Chi Xingyu’s match was taking place.
He glanced at the match time; it coincidentally fell on the same day he would be taking an exam, but the match didn’t start until nine in the evening.
If he flew right after the exam, he should still have time.
On the day of the exam, Tong Sui quickly completed all the questions and submitted his test paper while the others were still absorbed in their work.
The proctor looked momentarily stunned, “There’s still half an hour left; don’t you want to double-check?”
This exam’s results were directly tied to the qualification for the provincial competition.
“No, I confirm that I want to submit.”
Seeing Tong Sui’s determination, the proctor let him leave.
In his rush, Tong Sui didn’t even grab his luggage and ran straight to the airport. As soon as he entered the hall, he heard the announcement calling his name to board at the designated gate.
After a two-hour flight, the temperature suddenly dropped upon landing.
Tong Sui finally arrived in B City.
This ancient northern city was shrouded in a thin mist, with white frost hanging from the branches.
B City’s temperature was much lower than H City, and the people passing by were bundled up in warm coats or down jackets.
