Tong Sui tilted her head, pretending not to see.
“I’m sorry,” Chi Xingyu said.
Oh.
Sang Cai quietly lowered his head, but her ears perked up.
Is this the excitement from the gossip of late?
Tong Sui hadn’t expected Chi Xingyu to be so sincere in her apology; in fact, she wasn’t very angry. So, she pushed the breakfast she had just prepared over to Chi Xingyu.
“Here, eat.”
This could be considered a roundabout reconciliation.
Chi Xingyu’s eyes lit up, but her gaze involuntarily drifted to Tong Sui’s neck. “I didn’t mean to kiss you; I thought I was dreaming at that moment.”
Tong Sui’s skin was pale, making the red marks particularly clear; there was even a bit of a bite mark that left much to the imagination.
“What kind of dream involves just biting someone?” Tong Sui asked.
Chi Xingyu: “……”
She didn’t dare to tell the truth since the dream was quite similar to reality.
After a while, Zhong Yi yawned as he walked in, followed by Jiang Ciyuan, who also didn’t seem well-rested; both looked rather fatigued.
As soon as Zhong Yi sat down, he began to complain, “That tent was way too cold last night and so hard, I woke up feeling sore all over.”
He glanced at Tong Sui.
“You think so too, right?”
Tong Sui replied, “It was bearable…”
Thanks to Chi Xingyu, who was like a human electric blanket.
Zhong Yi, still half asleep, noticed the red mark on Tong Sui’s neck. “Why do you look worse than I do? Should we get some ointment?”
He instinctively thought it was a mosquito bite from the mountain.
Jiang Ciyuan also took a glance, then stood up and asked a nearby staff member for something.
“Forget the ointment; this might be more suitable.”
He placed a band-aid beside Tong Sui and returned to his seat.
It was better to cover up that unsightly mark.
Zhong Yi realized what was happening and stared closely at the mark, grinding his molars.
Despite his self-control, his wealthy friends often indulged in similar antics, so he had seen plenty of such kiss marks.
He had just failed to recognize it earlier because he hadn’t thought in that direction.
“Chi Xingyu, you’re too much,” Zhong Yi said. “You definitely took advantage of her while she was asleep and then kissed her!”
Chi Xingyu: “……”
From a certain angle, she had to admit that was nearly the truth.
Seeing her silent, Zhong Yi became even more convinced of his thoughts; he would not hide his temper, especially in a situation like this.
How could he remain indifferent while his crush was being bullied?
“Zhong Yi.”
Tong Sui called out to him.
Snapped out of his anger, Zhong Yi found a piece of bread shoved into his mouth.
“Eat,” Tong Sui said.
Zhong Yi’s mind went blank as he instinctively accepted the piece of bread.
Did Tong Sui just feed him?
Zhong Yi sat back down, his previous anger softened by joy, obediently finishing the bread.
Even though it was just a piece of rather bland whole grain bread, this prince, who had been accustomed to delicacies from a young age, savored it like it was a gourmet dish.
Chi Xingyu scoffed softly.
So what? She was the one receiving bread directly from Tong Sui’s hands, after all.
After Zhong Yi finished, he stayed still, propping his head up and looking at Tong Sui like a puppy watching its owner eat, making Tong Sui feel a bit awkward under the scrutiny.
He casually shared his sandwich.
“I’ll appreciate it with all my heart,” Zhong Yi promised.
Tong Sui: “……”
Not necessary.
After finishing their meal, Tong Sui cleaned his hands and, after some thought, put on the band-aid Jiang Ciyuan had given him.
They returned to the campsite to pack up the tents from the previous night, cleaning up all the trash to ensure no pollution was left behind.
Only then did they board the bus to start their journey back.
Seated beside Tong Sui, Chi Xingyu stared at the band-aid on her neck. “Do you really have to cover it up?”
“Of course,” Tong Sui replied.
Any sensible person would know it was meant to hide something, and trying to cover it could ironically spark curiosity about what was concealed.
Chi Xingyu inexplicably felt agitated and took out her phone to start a game.
Perhaps distracted, she didn’t even dodge a regular player’s attack, and the screen faded to gray.
She turned off her phone and unconsciously let her gaze drift back to Tong Sui.
Why did Tong Sui want to hide the marks she’d left?
What if she left a few more?
Wouldn’t that make it impossible to cover?
Noticing the gaze beside her, Tong Sui looked back to find Chi Xingyu, who had previously been playing a game, staring at her with a fixed gaze.
Her instincts were often quite accurate.
In a hurry, Tong Sui reached up to cover her neck. “Turn your head away.”
“Can’t I just take a look?” Chi Xingyu asked.
She wasn’t just thinking of looking; she probably already planned where to bite next.
Tong Sui insisted, “No!”
“Fine,” Chi Xingyu said, looking quite disappointed as she turned away, feigning interest in her phone for a while, but not long after, she turned back again.
Tong Sui was at a loss with her and could only pretend not to see.
The bus continued its journey to the cabin.
Having exhausted themselves yesterday, the production team decided to be nice and didn’t schedule any special activities for the day, allowing them to rest in their respective rooms.
Almost everyone returned to their rooms and immediately fell asleep; sleeping in a bed was far more comfortable than in a tent.
Tong Sui sat on the edge of the bed.
Jiang Ciyuan had already changed into pajamas, a subtle hint of gloom in her eyes.
It was clear she hadn’t rested well the night before either.
Jiang Ciyuan sat at the edge of the bed, pulled back the covers, and lay down. “I’ll sleep for a bit.”
