It was a perfect match for a steel-strong player like Number 4.
However, it was extremely unfriendly for a rookie player like Tong Sui.
Tong Sui followed closely behind Number 4, slowly searching for supplies.
Suddenly, shots rang out in rapid succession.
Tong Sui, equipped with a level three armor, lost a chunk of health and panicked. He struggled to grasp his gun, unable to locate where the attack was coming from and could only awkwardly dodge while shouting, “Number 4, someone is shooting at me! It hurts!”
After calling out, he felt a bit embarrassed; he was truly dragging the team down.
Just after needing rescue, he was already in trouble again, and Number 4 looked like he hated complications, which made him worry.
Tong Sui addressed the audience in the livestream, “I’m so bad at this. Next time, I’ll just play by myself.”
The bullet comments flooded in:
— Wifey is doing great! The jungle is just full of snipers lurking around.
— Don’t be scared, sweetheart. Just hold on for a bit; Lord Pool will save you.
— No, darling! It’s Lord Pool over there; he never takes teammates along. Playing with him has increased the audience count. It’s so lively!
…
Tong Sui glanced at the comments, murmuring softly, “Lord Pool?”
Hearing Tong Sui’s distress call, Chi Xingyu decisively abandoned searching for supplies and aimed towards the direction of the gunfire, firing his incomplete M416.
He controlled the recoil perfectly, and in just a few moments, he eliminated the threat.
The bullet comments exploded in a flurry of “666”, along with a wave of cheers.
— Wow, upon hearing Sweetheart 1’s plea, he turned around without a second’s hesitation.
— If this isn’t love, then what is?
— Of course. There’s no supply that smells sweeter than Sweetheart 1!
…
Chi Xingyu put away his gun and chuckled lightly at the comments, saying, “It has nothing to do with him. I just prefer searching the enemies’ loot boxes over empty houses.”
— He’s so cool; I totally love it.
— Today’s quote from Chi Xingyu (1/1).
— Heh, let’s see how long you can keep acting tough.
…
After saying that, he heard Tong Sui’s small voice, “Number 4, am I bothering you again? I promise I’ll dodge better next time—no, I will try harder to get kills myself.”
Tong Sui’s voice was soft and warm as it came through the headset, brushing against Chi Xingyu’s ear.
The smirk at the corner of his mouth momentarily stiffened.
The comments in the livestream exploded again.
— Help, help, help! Where did this treasure come from?
— So soft, so soft, woo woo woo.
— Come hide in my arms, darling! I don’t mind the trouble!
Chi Xingyu slightly furrowed his brows.
Does this guy even turn 18?
He should be older, so why does his voice sound so young, full of a charming whine? Doesn’t he feel embarrassed at all?
Chi Xingyu clicked his tongue and simply removed the headset he had on.
His ears turned bright red under his messy black hair, creating a stark contrast to his usual cool, indifferent face.
The sharp-eyed viewers in the livestream quickly commented:
— Your ears are so red.
— Your tough exterior hurts my heart; even your ears love him.
— ? Is this your excuse for acting tough?
— Blushing at just a few words? What a pure boy; how will you ever kiss?
Although Chi Xingyu had just turned 18, his experience in streaming was vast. He normally remained unfazed even when bombarded with criticism from numerous viewers.
Yet now, just being told his ears were red, he irritatedly rubbed his ears.
“This headset is uncomfortable.”
— The sponsors are furious.
— Alright, I’m done with it.
— What does that make me, using a headset worth over a hundred bucks?
Tong Sui called out to him, “Number 4? Why aren’t you saying anything?”
Only a second ago he was complaining about how uncomfortable his headset was, but now Chi Xingyu had put it back on, speaking in a calm tone, “It’s nothing. You don’t need to hide. I can take care of you.”
“Oh, okay.”
Tong Sui healed himself with a medkit, feeling revitalized and a bit more confident.
Even though Number 4 spoke little, he must be a well-known player or streamer; otherwise, the viewers wouldn’t be calling his name.
Their luck was good; the safe zone was shrinking in their direction, so they didn’t need to run from poison this time.
With Number 4 at his side, Tong Sui only had to happily loot.
At first, he worried that Number 4 might get impatient again, so he quietly asked, “Do you need any supplies? I can look for you.”
Chi Xingyu glanced around and noticed they were low on a compensator, but he replied, “Don’t worry about me; just focus on your own.”
Tong Sui felt a bit touched.
The supplies in this area were abundant; after a thorough search, he filled his level three backpack to the brim, resembling a small airdrop.
While Tong Sui browsed for supplies, Chi Xingyu occasionally fired shots to eliminate players trying to sneak into the safe zone.
As the next circle began to shrink, Chi Xingyu secured his weapon. “Let’s go; we need to run from poison.”
“Oh, okay.”
Tong Sui followed him with joy. The jungle map was small, and the resort was located in the center, making vehicles unnecessary.
However, Chi Xingyu had somehow acquired a motorcycle and told Tong Sui, “Get on.”
“Sure.”
Tong Sui obediently sat on the back of the motorcycle, his hand instinctively resting on Chi Xingyu’s waist. He whispered, “We’re so close together!”
Chi Xingyu glanced over.
Having played countless times on a motorcycle, it felt a bit strange hearing Tong Sui say that.
Having never had such intimate contact with anyone in real life, Chi Xingyu clicked his tongue.
Fine, he settled himself down, but he still insisted on having that hand around him.
He really wondered what the game developers were thinking.
Chi Xingyu sped down the road on the motorcycle. Even when encountering steep slopes, he managed to land smoothly.
Passing through a housing area at a distance, gunfire echoed towards them.
Naturally, Chi Xingyu would not let the provocateurs go.
