What is Tong Sui actually trying to do?
After returning to his room, Tong Sui felt anxious and scared, sitting on the bed for a long time before managing to calm down.
Jiang Hua probably didn’t notice him.
After tossing and turning all night without gaining any useful information, Tong Sui let out a deep sigh.
He certainly couldn’t directly confess to Jiang Hua that he would eventually turn into a zombie, but he harbors a secret that could lead to the development of an antidote, so he wanted to conduct some research on him.
If he were to say such things, he would probably be killed on the spot by Jiang Hua.
Tong Sui could only think of other ways to get closer to Jiang Hua.
He yawned widely; after a period of intense tension, sleepiness washed over him, and his eyelids were already heavy, almost fighting against each other.
He closed his eyes and fell asleep almost instantly.
After he fell into a deep sleep, the door creaked open.
Jiang Hua walked in with a stern face; he didn’t even bother to muffle his footsteps.
But the sleeping Tong Sui was completely unaware.
He looked peaceful in his sleep, with long, sleek black eyelashes, showing no signs of the danger that was slowly approaching.
Jiang Hua’s knees pressed into the mattress.
His slightly rough fingertips gently brushed against Tong Sui’s cheek, leaving a faint red mark.
He couldn’t help but recall the extremely red corners of Tong Sui’s eyes from earlier that day.
Jiang Hua leaned down.
His lips grazed the pale tip of Tong Sui’s ear, his hoarse voice sounding from his throat.
“Little Sui.”
In his dreams, Tong Sui couldn’t hear the words spoken, yet the originally delicate and fair tip of his ear turned a little red under Jiang Hua’s teasing.
Jiang Hua, not satisfied with just that, lowered his head and softly pressed his lips against the corner of Tong Sui’s mouth, murmuring, “Why did you sneak into my room at midnight? What do you want? Why can’t you just tell me directly?”
Tong Sui unintentionally parted his lips.
Jiang Hua’s gaze was deep and dark; he unabashedly seized on Tong Sui’s vulnerability, kissing him greedily.
While kissing, Jiang Hua recited, “Do you know how much I wanted to wake up just now and keep you by my side? You would probably be so scared you’d cry, right?”
Jiang Hua narrowed his eyes slightly.
“Little Sui, why do you always so easily tempt me, yet run away in fear?”
Tong Sui frowned slightly.
His fingers unconsciously clenched into fists as Jiang Hua forced his hand into the gaps between his fingers, intertwining their hands.
The skin on Tong Sui’s palm was as delicate and fair as the rest of his body, with no rough calluses.
In contrast, Jiang Hua’s hands were roughened by years of handling various weapons, rubbing against Tong Sui’s palm.
Tong Sui uncomfortably twisted his wrist.
He tried to shake off the intruding hand, but no matter how hard he tried, it felt like being ensnared by a snake.
The more he struggled, the tighter it coiled around him.
Jiang Hua leaned down and tenderly kissed the back of his hand, his eyes shrouded in darkness.
“Little Sui, stay by my side always.” Jiang Hua said softly, “Like they say, be a vine that depends on me.”
The next morning.
Tong Sui awoke feeling exhausted, yawning long and deep.
He slept poorly last night, and his mind felt a bit hazy; his steps felt unsteady as he walked.
Yesterday’s plan failed miserably.
Not only did he not get what he wanted, but he also made himself so tired.
After washing up and changing clothes, he opened the door to find Jiang Hua already had breakfast prepared.
Thinking back to everything that happened last night, Tong Sui’s expression briefly faltered, but he fought to suppress the panic inside.
He sat down at the dining table.
Jiang Hua took out the breakfast.
Tong Sui couldn’t help but yawn again, his eyelashes glistening with moisture.
“Did you not rest well last night?” Jiang Hua asked.
Tong Sui’s heart raced; after stammering for a while, he replied, “I—I guess I’m just not used to sleeping well yet.”
He looked down as he lied.
Unbeknownst to him, Jiang Hua’s gaze toward him was filled with deeper meaning.
“Oh, I thought you went out to steal something last night.”
Tong Sui lowered his head to drink the porridge.
Upon hearing this, he almost spat out the hot porridge, coughing as he bent over, “What did you say?”
“Just talking nonsense,” Jiang Hua replied, handing him a tissue.
Tong Sui took it with a guilty conscience, mumbling a few incoherent sounds.
After finishing breakfast, Tong Sui quickly stood up and headed to work.
He feared that staying with Jiang Hua for another second would lead to being seen through about how he hadn’t slept properly last night after climbing into bed.
Meanwhile, Jiang Hua leisurely sat by the window, watching Tong Sui dash out of the apartment with a panicked expression, his eyes full of depth.
Tong Sui rushed out of the apartment, exhaling a long sigh of relief.
He was plotting how to secretly collect a few of Jiang Hua’s hairs for the next attempt when he arrived at the research institute.
He walked in.
Tong Sui didn’t arrive early; people in the lab had already begun their experiments.
At that moment, a panicked cry came from one of the labs, “What do we do? Don’t come over!”
“Quick, give it a sedative!”
A zombie was approaching two young lab technicians in the laboratory, who were frozen in fear, trapped in the corner with icy hands and feet, unable to react otherwise.
Behind them, the restraints on the original experimental table had broken.
It seemed the zombie had freed itself from confinement.
The zombie had been locked in the glass chamber for too long without seeing any fresh meat; its eyes gleamed green as it lunged toward the nearest technician.
The technician shielded their face with their hands and shouted in panic, “Help!”
Seconds later.
The anticipated pain did not arrive; the zombie stood still in place, as if frozen mid-attack.
At that moment, the door behind them was pushed open by a handsome and unfamiliar young man.
