He couldn’t believe this was just his illusion.
But why didn’t he call for him when he went out?
Tong Sui felt more and more wronged.
The sky had completely darkened, and the room had fallen into an icy darkness.
The surroundings were frighteningly quiet.
Tong Sui, however, felt no drowsiness at all, until he heard the sound of the door opening outside, and all his attention was drawn to it.
Jiang Hua had returned.
He silently perked up his ears.
“Knock, knock.”
Jiang Hua knocked on the door. “Are you asleep? I brought you food; you should eat it while it’s hot.”
Jiang Hua waited at the door for a while.
There were some rustling sounds coming from inside the room; after a moment, the door opened a narrow crack.
A snow-white hand reached out.
Tong Sui took the bag from his hand, accidentally brushing his fingertips against the back of Jiang Hua’s hand.
The icy touch made him shiver, as if a small current had traveled through him, almost causing him to drop the bag.
Jiang Hua reached out to steady it for him.
Tong Sui raised his head, making brief eye contact with him.
In an instant, it was as if he had been stepped on by a rabbit; he quickly retracted and closed the door.
A few seconds later, Tong Sui’s voice came muffled through the door, “Thank you, Team Hua…”
Jiang Hua stood there, lightly chuckling.
He rubbed the spot where he had been accidentally touched, saying, “No need to thank me.”
Tong Sui recalled Jiang Hua’s gaze, and his face burned even more.
But he could basically confirm that Jiang Hua didn’t seem angry; in fact, he had even brought him dinner.
His tension finally relaxed.
The aroma of food wafted out, and only then did Tong Sui realize he was already quite hungry.
He turned on the light.
The variety of dishes in the bento was abundant, and after eating his fill, Tong Sui completely relaxed.
He took a shower and lay on the bed.
Tomorrow he would be able to use the equipment in the lab, but he still needed to figure out how to get samples from Jiang Hua.
Late at night,
Tong Sui struggled against drowsiness and stealthily left his room.
He tiptoed to Jiang Hua’s room and turned the doorknob; this was his first time doing such a thing, and his heart raced in nervousness.
Moonlight streamed through the curtain’s crevice, spilling onto the floor.
A human shape rose on the bed.
Jiang Hua lay completely still on the bed.
Tong Sui sighed in relief.
He crept into the bathroom, turned on the light, and gently closed the bathroom door behind him.
At the very moment he closed the door, Jiang Hua, seemingly in deep sleep, opened his eyes; his eyes were clear and showed no signs of sleepiness.
In the darkness, he appeared somewhat indifferent.
What was Tong Sui’s intention in getting close to him? Why had he come here impatiently on the very first day? What was he hoping to find?
While in the bathroom, Tong Sui had no idea he had already messed up; he rummaged around but didn’t find a single strand of hair.
Was it cleaned too thoroughly?!
Tong Sui gritted his teeth; having come this far, he couldn’t go back empty-handed. He steeled himself and slipped out of the bathroom.
To avoid making any noise, he intentionally wore only socks, quietly padding his way towards the bed in the bedroom.
He squatted beside the bed.
Tong Sui found himself drawn to Jiang Hua’s face.
From his eyes to his nose bridge, finally to his thin lips, recalling what had happened earlier that day made his face burn in the darkness.
Jiang Hua’s breathing was steady, indicating he was probably fast asleep.
He reached out his hand.
Using the light streaming in from outside, he fumbled around on the bed, hoping to find some fallen hair or something similar.
But after a long time, he still failed to find any hair.
Tong Sui glanced at Jiang Hua.
Seeing he was sleeping soundly, he mustered up his courage and stretched to turn on the bedside lamp.
Under the warm yellow light, Tong Sui quietly climbed onto the bed, crouched down, and lifted a corner of Jiang Hua’s blanket.
Suddenly, Jiang Hua, who had been quiet, rolled over, warmth enveloping him; Tong Sui hadn’t had time to slip off the bed before he was tightly wrapped in the blanket.
Help!
Tong Sui’s body tensed up; he didn’t dare to move, and worst-case scenarios raced through his mind.
If he was discovered, it would be over!
He couldn’t explain why he was sneaking into someone else’s bed in the middle of the night.
But Jiang Hua fell still again.
It seemed that he had just turned over in his sleep.
Tong Sui turned his head.
The distance between them was ambiguously close; he only needed to lean in a bit more to touch Jiang Hua’s cheek.
Lost in his thoughts, Tong Sui suddenly felt a jolt at his waist.
He let out a sound of surprise.
Jiang Hua embraced his waist, pulling him closer, holding him tightly in his arms.
Tong Sui was so scared that his breathing began to tremble.
Why did Jiang Hua have the habit of grabbing people while he slept?
His hand trembled as it reached down, trying to pry Jiang Hua’s hand away, but his grip was like a vise, firmly holding him.
Tong Sui exerted some effort, attempting to pry Jiang Hua’s fingers off.
Jiang Hua frowned.
Tong Sui instantly dared not move again.
His heart raced, only able to let Jiang Hua hold him like that, unable to comprehend how they had ended up in this situation.
Tong Sui looked at Jiang Hua’s face in a panic.
The warm yellow light gave a bit of warmth to his austere features, while the part of his nose buried in shadow deepened the darkness.
For a few moments, he doubted whether Jiang Hua was truly asleep.
Time passed;
Tong Sui felt the warmth of Jiang Hua’s palm on his waist, and the hand holding him finally loosened a bit.
Quickly, Tong Sui climbed off the bed.
He didn’t dare linger, hastily running out of the room.
Jiang Hua opened his eyes, watching the direction Tong Sui had left in, his hand resting on the mattress that still retained a trace of warmth.
