Tong Sui hummed in response.
He had been sleeping for a whole day and was starting to feel hungry. However, Jiang Hua did not hand him the porridge, instead, he held it in his own hands.
Tong Sui was slightly taken aback, suddenly realizing, “Captain Hua, were you taking care of me the whole time I was asleep?”
“Yes.”
Jiang Hua picked up a spoon and brought it to his lips, “Eat.”
Didn’t Jiang Hua always think he was a hassle?
Why was he here personally taking care of him instead of letting the other team members do it?
Could it be that he actually liked me a little?
Tong Sui was lost in a jumble of thoughts as he absentmindedly opened his mouth to get closer to the spoon, only to feel a slight burn on the tip of his tongue, “Ah.”
Covering his mouth, Tong Sui hesitantly looked up at him and said softly, “Captain Hua, this porridge is still a bit hot…”
Jiang Hua paused.
He didn’t simply splash the porridge on him to eat but clumsily blew on it before bringing it back to Tong Sui’s lips, “Try again.”
This was so strange.
So strange!
Tong Sui was momentarily unable to accept Jiang Hua’s sudden kindness, feeling anxious as he ate the porridge.
Jiang Hua asked, “Are you full?”
Tong Sui nodded, “Captain Hua, how did I faint?”
Jiang Hua took out a crystal core, “Stretch out your hand.”
Tong Sui complied, still confused.
He watched as the crystal core was absorbed into his hand, “I… I awakened a special ability?”
Jiang Hua replied, “Yes.”
Tong Sui tried to sense it, but everything around him remained quiet, without any changes.
He looked bewildered.
“What ability did I awaken?”
Jiang Hua answered, “Psychic.”
“Ah?”
Tong Sui was stunned. Was there really such a thing?
He carefully recalled the original plot and realized that it had never introduced anyone who had awakened such an ability.
Tong Sui asked in confusion, “What’s the use of this psychic ability?”
Jiang Hua explained, “You controlled the zombies at the scene, making them fight among themselves.”
“Did I?”
Tong Sui was shocked,
He had no recollection of that at all.
But looking at Jiang Hua’s expression, he didn’t seem to be joking.
Tong Sui hesitantly asked, “Did I help you at all?”
“Of course,” Jiang Hua said, “You were awesome. Without you, I probably would have been injured from excessive use of the special ability.”
Tong Sui felt sweet inside.
Although he didn’t remember, it was truly wonderful to be able to help.
Jiang Hua said, “But awakening the psychic ability is just like the spatial ring. Don’t tell others casually, okay?”
Psychic abilities had never appeared before; if it fell into the hands of someone with ill intent, it could harm Tong Sui.
Tong Sui obediently nodded, “Got it.”
“Okay, rest well.”
Jiang Hua left with the thermos.
Tong Sui threw off the blanket and got out of bed, only to notice that his clothes had also been changed.
Did Jiang Hua help him change?
Tong Sui’s cheeks turned slightly red, and he said to the system, “Do you think he might like me a bit?”
The system humph-ed twice: [Why don’t you consider that he is trying to win you over now that he knows you’ve become a special ability user?]
“He’s not that kind of person.”
Tong Sui went to the balcony to retrieve his clean clothes that had been hung up to dry, then he took a shower in Jiang Hua’s bathroom.
He changed back into his own clothes.
He washed and hung up the white shirt that Jiang Hua had given him.
Just then, the door to the room opened.
Jiang Hua walked back in.
Tong Sui quickly said, “Thank you, Captain Hua. I feel much better. When are we heading back to the base?”
Jiang Hua replied, “Tomorrow.”
“Okay, then I’ll head back to my room.”
Tong Sui waved goodbye to him.
The room was left with only Jiang Hua.
He looked at the already empty bed and reached out to stroke the cold sheets that no longer held warmth.
Jiang Hua had been used to solitude.
For some reason, staring at the empty bed made him feel a bit uncomfortable.
The next day.
The weather had completely cleared up.
If it weren’t for the dried bloodstains still left on the ground, it would be hard to imagine the carnage that had taken place under the rain.
Next to the off-road vehicle,
The team members were packing their things.
They casually chatted, “But I still don’t quite understand. How did those zombies suddenly turn on each other?”
“Could it be that they got so vicious that they even attacked themselves?”
Tong Sui walked downstairs.
Hearing their discussion made him a little uneasy.
Another team member said, “Who knows? Maybe they were in the middle of a mutation and had a program error.”
Tong Sui sighed in relief.
It seemed no one suspected his involvement.
“Little Sui, you finally woke up!” Zhang Binyu came over, patting him on the shoulder.
Tong Sui was startled.
Zhang Binyu said, “You look good. Seems like Captain Hua’s close care has worked well!”
Zhang Binyu chuckled, “So, how far have you and Captain Hua gotten? Have you kissed?”
“Of course not!” Tong Sui’s ears turned red, “Don’t say nonsense!”
Jiang Hua walked down the stairs and coldly said, “Zhang Binyu.”
“I’m sorry, Captain!”
Zhang Binyu laughed and ran away.
Jiang Hua said to Tong Sui, “Get in the car. We’re ready to leave.”
“Okay.”
As Tong Sui was about to sit in the car, a small figure came running over.
“Brother!”
Nana dashed over, followed by a group of ordinary people from the base.
“Brother, are you leaving?” Nana grabbed his shirt, “Can you not go?”
Tong Sui patted her head, “Brother has other things to do.”
