Recalling the events of that day, Tong Sui’s expression became somewhat awkward as he averted his gaze. “I’ll pack my things first.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up the call, Tong Sui quickly stuffed the assigned homework into his backpack, taking little else with him, just a small handbag, before leaving the dormitory.
As he was nearing the school gate, a figure suddenly blocked his path.
“Tong Sui, I need to talk to you.”
Tong Sui looked at Lu Yiming, feeling his mood worsen further. “What do you want?”
“Are you really not going to join the student council? This is a great opportunity for you to showcase yourself. Do you want to be seen as a slacker by everyone outside?”
Lu Yiming continued, “Your relationship with your brother isn’t great either. In the future, the entire group will belong to him, and you’ll only get that little dividend. Don’t you want to defeat him just once?”
If it had been the original host, he might have fallen for it.
But Tong Sui felt no inner turmoil.
He responded, “I’m very happy to receive dividends without doing anything.”
Lu Yiming was momentarily speechless. He didn’t expect Tong Sui to be so unambitious and could think of nothing to say.
Sitting in the car, Tong Si Nian watched the whole scene unfold remotely.
It was not until Tong Sui opened the car door and took a seat that he spoke up.
Tong Sui was sulking, looking rather unhappy.
Tong Si Nian handed him a dessert he had bought on the way.
“What’s wrong? Was that the young master of the Lu family? What did he say that upset you?”
Tong Sui replied, “He wanted to recruit me into the student council. When I refused, he said my relationship with you was poor and that I wouldn’t have a share in the group in the future, urging me to compete with you.”
“Utter nonsense.”
Tong Si Nian clenched his fists, a hint of darkness flashing in his eyes.
Their group had been negotiating a collaboration with the Lu family recently, as it involved a significant order, but the quality of the products they were offered was unstable and did not meet their requirements.
Tong Si Nian had intended to give them another chance, but it now seemed entirely unnecessary.
He told his secretary, “Notify the Lu family now that we won’t be collaborating on this order. Additionally, regarding the contract signed earlier, we won’t be renewing it after this quarter.”
“Understood.”
After taking care of everything, Tong Si Nian turned to look at Tong Sui.
Tong Sui had unwrapped the cake Tong Si Nian gave him and was eating it in neat little bites, appearing adorably obedient.
Tong Si Nian softened his voice, “Don’t listen to those ill-intentioned people. If you want to manage our family’s group, I can hand it over to you as soon as you graduate.”
Tong Sui replied, “I don’t want it; it’s too tiring. Brother, you work hard to earn money. I’ll just live off dividends for the rest of my life.”
Tong Si Nian burst into laughter.
The two exchanged casual conversation as they returned to the villa. Upon entering the estate, Tong Sui noticed colorful lights hanging over the lawn.
“Are they planning some kind of event?”
“Yes, tomorrow,” Tong Si Nian replied. “There will be many people in the evening; you don’t have to come down if you don’t want to.”
After getting out of the car, Tong Mama hurried over, noticing him with a bag, and shot a glare at Tong Si Nian.
“How are you being a brother? Your younger brother is hurt, and you don’t even help carry his things.”
If it had been before, Tong Si Nian would probably have turned and left coldly, but now he kindly accepted the lightweight small handbag.
Tong Sui said, “It’s fine; my hand doesn’t hurt anymore.”
“It doesn’t matter; he should carry it. That’s his duty as a brother,” Tong Mama said, affectionately patting Tong Sui’s shoulder as she guided him inside. “You’ve been working hard lately; I asked the aunt to make you some pig trotters soup, and it’s still warming up in the pot.”
After finishing a bowl of soup, Tong Sui was finally sent upstairs.
He closed his eyes, intending to rest for a while.
In his dream, Ye Lin came towards him, kissing him as he asked, “Didn’t you say you liked me?”
“Then who is Luo Luo?”
When Tong Sui woke up, his clothes were soaked. After showering and finishing dinner, he started on his homework.
For him, the amount was quickly completed.
However, he took his time at the desk, doing it slowly for an entire evening.
Seeing his internal struggle, the system said, [You aren’t thinking about revealing the truth to him again, are you?]
Tong Sui, hit by the truth, responded, “……”
The system continued, [Although they are the same person, they have no shared memories. Even if you tell him everything, he won’t remember.]
Tong Sui whispered, “I understand.”
The next day.
The banquet hall was adorned with a variety of delicious foods, and Tong Sui, dressed in a suit, stood at the door welcoming guests.
Although he inherited most of the original host’s memories, he was still uneasy about socializing like this.
He hid behind Tong Si Nian, not saying much.
Fortunately, most of the guests were not here for him; he stood beside them like a wooden post, lost in thought.
After standing for a short while, he heard a rather sycophantic voice approaching.
“President Tong, long time no see. You still look so distinguished. Our little Lu is in the same school as your brother.”
Hearing this, Tong Sui came back to reality.
The family of three standing in front of them was Lu Yiming and his parents.
Lu’s father smiled and said, “We’ve been collaborating for so long; suddenly saying the collaboration is off, isn’t there some misunderstanding?”
“Let’s not discuss work at today’s banquet.” Tong Si Nian paused, an imposing gaze landing on Lu Yiming. “If you really want to know, just ask your precious son what he has done.”
As soon as his words fell, Lu’s father and mother instantly turned their expressions toward Lu Yiming.
In a secluded corner, Lu’s father slapped him hard across the face, leaving a clear hand mark that made half of Lu Yiming’s face swell up.
“Waste! I asked you to curry favor with the Tong family, and this is how you handle it? Speak! What have you done?!”
