But this is merely a way to delay time; it works this time, but what about next time?
Ye Linyuan couldn’t understand why he kept getting distracted and even wanted to interfere in someone else’s personal relationships.
However, as soon as he thought about the curve of Tong Sui’s smiling lips, the sweet orange fragrance on his body, and those delicate bite marks he would leave on others, his hand tightened into a fist.
The veins on the back of his hand stood out, each one clearly visible, and the unprecedented frustration grew more intense, nearly swallowing him whole. He didn’t want to accept that such a thing could happen.
Ye Linyuan clicked on Tong Sinian’s communication.
Tong Sinian, upon receiving the call, answered in a second.
He looked up and saw Ye Linyuan’s stern face, even colder than usual, and was startled, “Don’t scare me! Did something happen to Tong Sui?”
“He’s going to a social event.”
“…Huh?” Tong Sinian was taken aback, somewhat at a loss, “A social event? Isn’t that a good thing? Didn’t we have them all the time during school? A lot of couples were formed each time.”
After Tong Sinian said this, it seemed Ye Linyuan’s face soured even more.
It was so heavy it seemed like it could drip water.
Ye Linyuan said, “Not at all. He’s so young. If he can’t control himself and marks an Omega, how will he take responsibility? What if he’s sued? The Omega Protection Law is no joke; money won’t solve it when it comes to that.”
Tong Sinian was stunned.
This was the first time he had seen Ye Linyuan speak such a long string of words outside of a public speech.
“Did you hear me?” Ye Linyuan asked.
“Yeah, yeah, so what do you plan to do?”
Tong Sinian truly hadn’t considered this problem.
His rebellious younger brother had been reckless in many aspects—poor grades, bad temper—but clean when it came to relationships.
He wouldn’t even say the name of his crush without turning red.
“I’ll keep an eye on him,” Ye Linyuan said, hanging up before Tong Sinian could respond.
His old classmate was truly reliable.
The next day, Tong Sui stood in line with his class.
Today, they had a new training activity, but he couldn’t focus, his gaze constantly drifting outside the playground.
As the day went on, he still didn’t see the person he wanted to see.
It seemed that after encountering him several times a few days ago, Tong Sui realized that if Ye Linyuan didn’t actively appear, he could hardly find him.
He should be in the office.
Tong Sui thought he couldn’t find an excuse to go there.
In the following days, he didn’t know if Ye Linyuan was busy or avoiding him, but he didn’t show up even once.
Not a single time.
During break time.
Tong Sui maintained a straight face among his laughing classmates.
He looked at the names quietly lying in the list, having typed countless random things into the dialogue box.
[Can you meet me today?]
[I said I liked Omega the other day, but I was frustrated about the social event; what I really like is you.]
Tong Sui frowned, deleting the input once again.
If he didn’t come, then he didn’t come.
Tong Sui glanced at Jiang Che, who was practicing assembly during his break, and walked over, “I’ll teach you.”
Finally, the military training ending ceremony arrived.
This military training was different from the original plot; even though Bian Sheng didn’t participate, Jiang Che still passed the assessment.
They were arranged to listen to the speeches from the stage.
The head of the Mecha Department said, “Director Ye has been away for meetings these past few days; he’ll probably be back tomorrow morning. I’ll say a few words in his stead regarding…”
After the speeches came a series of military training result displays, during which Tong Sui was completely distracted.
Finally, it was their class’s turn to showcase their talents. After taking a stroll on stage, Tong Sui couldn’t help but ask the system in his brain, “Can you help me check on Ye Linyuan?”
He remembered that the system had this function.
System: [Sure.]
A mirror appeared in mid-air, visible only to Tong Sui.
In the image, he saw Ye Linyuan, wearing a military uniform, looking cold and handsome. His posture was straight and sharp, sitting among a group of plump, balding officials, standing out like a crane among chickens.
His brow was slightly furrowed, and the depth of his eyes indicated his dissatisfaction with what the speaking official was saying.
Sure enough, after the official finished speaking and sat down, Ye Linyuan began to talk, though the content was inaudible.
The system had upgraded but wasn’t fully functional yet.
This time, the image held for several minutes before being cut off.
Yet compared to the pitiful few seconds last time, it was quite an improvement.
System: [See, just because he doesn’t have his memories doesn’t mean he will like you.]
Tong Sui: “…”
System: [After so many days without seeing him, he doesn’t even miss you, and he doesn’t care that you’re going to the social event today. You won’t find love if you keep chasing after him.]
Tong Sui finally couldn’t help but retort, “You, as an artificial intelligence, have no right to speak.”
After standing for what felt like an eternity, he finally heard the voice of the department head over the broadcast, “Finally, I declare the military training summary assembly officially over. Please exit in an orderly manner.”
Tong Sui followed the crowd back to the dormitory, removing his hat.
He grabbed his clothes and took a shower.
After changing back into his clothes post-shower, with a towel draped over his damp hair, he heard Xiaopang’s voice, “This is impossible! Why have I gained two more pounds?”
Xiaopang turned to see Tong Sui, “Sui Ge, why did you not get tanned at all? I’m almost as dark as a shadow!”
“Not really,” Tong Sui replied, glancing at the mirror, “Maybe the red hair makes me look fairer.”
“That’s not it; you’re just naturally fair.”
At that moment, Bian Sheng changed into his clothes, leaning against the bed, and asked them, “Tong Sui, how much longer do you need?”
Tong Sui turned his head, “What?”
