“You may arrange the time as you see fit.”
Ye Linyuan said, “The empire is holding a conference for committee members over the next few days. I will take some time to attend and bring up the proposal for introducing Omega once more.”
“That proposal has been rejected three times already, hasn’t it?”
Several department heads were veterans of the academy, some of them having been there longer than Ye Linyuan.
“I plan to modify it a bit and give it another try,” Ye Linyuan replied.
They glanced at Ye Linyuan, noting that the content of his proposal had remained unchanged even after three attempts, but it was clear that the empire held a firm stance against it. All three times the proposal had been turned down.
It was unexpected that Ye Linyuan had not given up and intended to propose it for a fourth time.
One of the department heads asked, “If it’s rejected again, will you continue to propose it?”
The military academy was a longstanding bastion of aristocracy, with an internal set of rules that had been in operation for many years.
The empire was unwilling to allow Omega to enroll, not just because of pheromone concerns, but more so to prevent Omega from accessing the core of power, allowing for better control.
In the past, such opportunities led previous deans to propose innocuous items like teaching funding, attempting to make minor changes that would be less controversial.
“Hmm, I will keep proposing it,” Ye Linyuan said. “Only with the military academy setting an example can other higher education institutions consider opening up to Omega.”
Indeed, some universities had started to allow Omega certain privileges, but there were severe professional restrictions.
The opportunities available were mostly limited to marginal professions.
Fields like medicine, law, judiciary, and policing still kept them at bay.
After discussing other topics in the meeting, Ye Linyuan glanced at the time.
“Alright, let’s call it a day for this meeting.”
Once the room emptied, Ye Linyuan stood up.
He returned to his office to revise the proposal but found his gaze often drifting past the desk to the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Through the glass and at a considerable distance, his sight accurately caught a glimpse of a figure.
Ye Linyuan felt a familiar warmth prickling at his collarbone, and he casually unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt.
He adjusted the air conditioning temperature down a notch.
Bowing his head, he grasped a pen and wrote down a few words on paper.
When he came back to his senses, his paper clearly stated “Tong Sui.”
He moved the pen tip, intending to strike out those two characters, but it hesitated in mid-air and did not come down. Eventually, he opened the drawer and tucked the paper inside.
Closing the drawer, Ye Linyuan stared at the blank paper in front of him, beginning to zone out.
A faint scent of sweet oranges flickered in his mind; Tong Sui, standing in the sunlight, asked him, “Ye Linyuan, do you have any feelings for me at all?”
After a long day of military training, students exhausted from the heat rushed into the cafeteria.
The instructors had also clocked out.
Little Fatty brought two plates of food and squeezed in front of Tong Sui, especially for him, without letting him continue eating the broth.
“Thank you,” Tong Sui said.
He picked up his chopsticks and ate for a while when a crisp voice asked softly, “…Is there anyone sitting here?”
Tong Sui turned his head.
Jiang Che was cautiously carrying his tray, looking at him.
“Please sit.”
“Thank you.”
Jiang Che took a seat next to Tong Sui, eating quietly and making hardly any noise.
Little Fatty across the table stared at how Jiang Che ate, furrowing his brows. “Jiang Che, how come I’ve never noticed before that you eat so gracefully? You look like an Omega; upon closer inspection, you—”
“Cough, cough.”
Tong Sui cleared his throat twice, “Water.”
“Oh, oh.”
Little Fatty quickly twisted open the water bottle and handed it to Tong Sui, forgetting the previous topic, “Sui Ge, how long until your hand is healed?”
He couldn’t even open the water bottle; it must be quite a struggle for him.
“I’m not sure.”
Tong Sui accepted the opened bottle of mineral water and took a sip.
“It doesn’t hurt anymore. It should be healing soon.”
When he put the bottle down, he caught something blocking his view.
Tong Sui turned his head.
A pale blue figure, completely different from their uniforms, wore a refreshing and bright college outfit.
Tong Sui had never seen it before, but Jiang Che had already lowered his head.
Surrounding them, many people turned to look in their direction, whispering among themselves.
Noticing Tong Sui’s gaze, the person gathered their courage.
“Hello, I’m from the neighboring college,”
Their voice was soft and gentle, holding something in their hand and extending it toward Tong Sui, “This is an invitation to our social event. I would like to invite you to attend.”
Tong Sui stared at the ticket for two seconds, recalling what Little Fatty had said earlier. He turned to look at the standing Omega.
Unlike them, who had been tanned to a char by military training.
The Omega before him smelled fragrant, with well-maintained hair that looked soft and fluffy, and he was also quite beautiful, with long eyelashes and shiny lips.
Tong Sui was certain he didn’t know this person.
Little Fatty’s eyes brightened.
Tickets that were hard to get were suddenly being offered personally by an Omega.
How impressive is that!
Then he heard an unexpected refusal—
“Sorry, I’m quite busy with military training recently and might not have the time to attend.”
Tong Sui refused politely.
The Omega lowered his eyes, a hint of disappointment showing, and gently placed the ticket on the edge of the table, saying softly, “It’s okay. You can keep the ticket. If you can’t come, you can give it to someone else.”
After speaking, he turned and left.
Once he departed, Little Fatty excitedly grabbed the ticket.
“Sui Ge, you’re so popular! An Omega from the neighboring academy came personally to deliver a ticket to you. That Omega was stunning and looked great with you too.”
